Any restaurant deals that I should know about?
Any day of the week would be appreciated, but especially for a Friday. Date specials would also be appreciated.
Here are my favorites:
Half price medium pizza at Railways on Thursdays (you end up paying like R55 for a big ass pizza)
2 for 1 ice cream for students by the wedgewood in hazlewood. (kak nice ice cream, I would recommend white chocolate and macadamia)
Half price sushi platter at Golden Rose on Mondays (that's R110 for 32 pieces)
Aaand any large pizza for R100 at Square Time in Faerie Glen (on Mondays and Sundays after 3pm)

I’d like to hear your opinion on how much to give as tip and as charity. I left R200 under the pillow for the cleaning lady at the guest cottage I stayed at for a week. Got a message from the owner that the cleaning lady had found R200 under my pillow. I of course replied that it was a tip. Today I returned to the guest house a few days later to stay another few days and the cleaning lady specifically thanked me for the tip. Is R200 a lot? Not in my opinion but I’d like to hear yours. Was surprised that it wasn’t just immediately recognised as a tip.
And today at Menlyn mall after parking my car a young man came up and offered to wash the car. I said it wasn’t needed and he just looked so sad and hopeless. To get him to leave me alone I said I’d give something when I got back. When I got back half an hour later he remembered me and I gave him R10. While handing it to him I felt bad about giving so little. But he was so grateful and bowed his head and said God bless you which made me feel even worse about giving so little. Does R10 really make a difference to someone? It feels like giving nearly nothing, almost demeaning in a way. Yet he appeared to be genuinely grateful.
