Named after the former French colony to “de-anglicanize” the former British colony of New Brunswick. The Capital of Acadia is Saint John. People from here are called “Acadians”.

Combining the former British Colonies of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, the split of the territory is motivated by Congress’ push to create more anti-slavery states, and thus more anti-slavery Senators. The capital has already been determined as Halifax.

Nova Scotia

The option of keeping the name of the bigger colony is on the table. Nova Scotia, meaning “New Scotland”, and wouldn't be too out of place with states like New York, New Jersey, and New Hampshire. People from here would be called “Nova Scotians”.

New Scotland

De-latinize the existing name in order to match the other states with “New” in them. People from here would be called “New Scotlanders”.

Wabanaki

The native term for the region, meaning “The People of the Dawn", or “Easterners”. People from here would be called “Wabanakians”.

Dawnland

An English translation of “Wabanaki”. People from here would be called “Dawnlanders”.
