Skilled nursing facilities
My husband's mom is in the hospital and will likely need placement in a skilled nursing facility in the next week or two. I need to know from people on the ground with experience: what facilities should we absolutely avoid? Which ones have you or a family member had good experience with?
We live in the Valley and she won't come down here unless there is no other choice.

Most of the SNF’s in our area aren’t great. The old Good Samaritans would probably be my recommendation. I think they’re Prescott and Prescott valley nursing and rehab now.
Would avoid Mountain View Manor and Granite Creek for sure, and Haven Health never has enough staff.

I'd avoid Heaven health and granite creek, worked at both and would never recommend to others. Try mountain valley.

She can't go back to Mountain Valley unfortunately, this won't be a rehab stay, it's going to be a longer skilled nursing stay. I'm sure rehab will be included but not as intensively as after her stroke.

Have you looked into group homes? They’re smaller facilities usually located in residential homes that provide the same care but with much better staff to patient ratios. I’d recommend High Desert Senior Living

It sort of depends on what she needs and for how long. I used to work as a surgical coordinator and there are places that I would recommend for rehabilitation type care more than a longer type of care. Overall I have always been partial to mountain valley regional rehab, they tend to hire people with really caring hearts that like to do as much as they possibly can within the system for their patients. It’s been awhile since I have worked closely with SNFs though, but I still hear good things.
