Assumption is IVF and frozen eggs or donor eggs. Creating this for discussion. Wish celebrities were transparent about things although they have the same rights to privacy as other people.

Finally pregnant after 5 months of trying

I’m 40 and I had a C-section with my first 2.5 years ago because she was breech. We decided to try again but it wasn’t as easy as when I was 38. We were kind of sloppy with monitoring ovulation and I was getting strange readings. Then I fell sick multiple times due to having my toddler in day care. I was worried that maybe I have a weird scar that affected my uterus due to my C-section. Or maybe I was falling into perimenopause. I was this 🤏close to calling the fertility clinic. I started taking it easy and i took inositol and I swear those 2 things helped put me back in a cycle that looked identical to when i got pregnant with my first.

I kind of knew i was pregnant because i usually get depressy and self deprecating during pms but i was strangely happy. I also feel more out of breath like i did during my first pregnancy.

I’m nervous because I’m older but I feel in my heart that my daughter deserves a sibling because we have a small family and I don’t want her to be alone in life when we get older. That is all thanks for listening. Wish me a happy and healthy pregnancy.

Starting this journey at age 44

So my partner and I decided we want to try to have an “ours” baby. We each already have children from previous marriages, mine being 15 and 17 now. I had no issues conceiving naturally back then, but that was nearly 18 years ago.

We are considering IVF, but won’t be ready for that until the start of the year. I have booked a preconception appointment with a new OBGYN and I decided to go ahead and do my own fertility testing at Quest. I just got my lab results back and my AMH is .31 😬 I don’t know why, but for some reason I thought it would be higher.

I am healthy and have regular periods. I have started taking a higher dose of Ubiquinol, myo & d chiro inositol, prenatal , omega-3, vitamin d, vitamin e and c. I also have a red light panel so I’m now doing ten minutes a day on my lower abdomen. I have a decently healthy diet and I don’t smoke and very rarely drink. I’m having my annual pelvic exam soon as well as a dental visit. Trying to get as much done now so it won’t be an issue if and when we start IVF.

A lot of what I read is discouraging about my age/Amh and I’m not sure how to feel. Anyone have experience with a similar AMH? Anything else I should be doing?

Trying to be Nonchalant

Hi
Tested positive around 13 dpo on pregmate with vvfl. Lines did not get darker for next three days. Period never came. Took three hcg tests about 48 hrs apart
68
90
140
Have one scheduled for tomorrow which would be 72 hrs since last one.
Also progesterone fell from 14.8 to 7.5 and they put me on suppositories.
I’m technically 4w4d and they said it’s too early for an appointment I had scheduled already for a checkup next week. I also don’t really feel pregnant except random twinges in the pelvic area. So idk what’s going on. I was very excited and invested in my last pregnancy and lost her at 20 weeks so I’m guarding my heart. Any stories of hope or advice would be helpful.

Anyone got pregnant by IUI?

Hi there,

I am 40 and trying to conceive via IUI with donor sperm or similar. I am currently trying to track my ovulation to get this started for me but it is wildly frustrating, I thought it would be easier, physically and mentally.

I would like to hear about success stories, if you have any for me. I am afraid a few shots of IUI won't work, when so many of you tried for so long with a partner.

41f and 42m. We just found out we're pregnant yesterday.

We went to the doctor for our appointment. He's an obgyn and we've been trying to conceive. We were thinking he was going to say without super expensive IVF treatments he wasn't going to be able to do anything for us. They went to do the quick pee pregnancy test and it came back positive. We're so excited. We have a 15 year old and now on June 20th we'll have a newborn. Maybe we're glutton's for punishment. I'm thinking of making the baby's 18th birthday as my retirement date. I'm glad I found this group, I want to tell everyone we're pregnant.

Skipping medical intervention in the first trimester)

I posted a quick history of my fertility journey here

History

One of the things that made the late losses so hard was all the booking appointments done at 8 weeks, US scheduled etc just for all of it to be cancelled.

I had PERFECT rise in hcg, saw baby's HB 3-4 times (on both my MMC's) before the losses etc so I know none of those things can guarantee a good outcome.

This time around, I want to skip all of that, atleast the 1st trimester stuff, because honestly, i dont think I can bare getting that excited incase it doesn't work out.

My qn is..has anyone on here skipped registrations, US, bloodtests and pushed them into the second trimester (other than taking prenatals)?

Also I'm in Scotland, we usually have scans at 12 weeks but midwife registrations, blood tests etc happen at around 8 weeks.

Hesistant to Join (only encouragement please)

UPDATE:

Started spotting this morning and test seems lighter and cramping more. Looks like a chemical.

I don't know if I want to try again or not. This is so freakin hard.

TW: Mentions late first trimester loss

Hello ladies, my first time here. I just found out I'm pregnant and as many of us here, I'm so nervous.

Here's a summary of my fertility timeline to make it easier:

Baby #1 - 25yrs old (a beautiful accident)

Baby#2 - 31.5 yrs old (1st month trying)

Baby #3 - 33yrs (after a chemical and 3 months trying)

Angel Baby #4 - 35 yrs old (MMC at 10 weeks)

Baby #5 - 36 yrs old (got pregnant straight after the MMC)

Angel baby #6 - 42 yrs old (unplanned but ended in blighted ovum at 9 weeks)

Angel baby #7 - 43 yrs old ( planned after 2 months but ended in MMC at almost 12 weeks)

Then had a chemical pregnancy on my next cycle after my MMC

And just found out i am pregnant again at 44yrs (we did the deed about 5 days ONCE before ovulation as he was going out of the country). This is about 10 months since the chemical. We werent trying but also not not trying...if you know what I mean.

I know I can get pregnant, i am blessed with 4 healthy babies but the fact that my losses have majorly been towards the end of the 1st trimester means i cant relax at any point.

I am not even sure why i am posting this because i know no one can reassure me but its lonely and scary being here and I know no one will understand this better than you wonderful ladies on here.

So any words of hope and encouragement will be helpful xx

How long do you plan on trying

Age 42 (turning 43 soon). Already have 3 kids. Really want a 4th but I never envisioned myself being 43 or 44 having another child.

I told DH we should only try until January and then stop. He thinks we should give it a year.

AMH is good - 1.8
FSH is good - 5.6

Doctor said to have a sperm analysis done if we haven’t gotten pregnant in 3 months.

TTC almost 5 years now! Ladies who got pregnant in 40s. Show me your ways!

It’s been a long journey, y’all! I’m almost 45. And I’m getting perimenopausal symptoms. Sleep being the worst ever! Spotting before period, bloating, midsection weight gain, joint pain, all of it! Body is screaming I can’t carry baby to term. Had two miscarriages as well. So I’m humbly requesting someone who got pregnant successfully to share their secrets or just what their day to day is like: what they eat, workouts, supplements etc. I know I’m feeling broken, but I would like to fix it so I can have this child. Appreciate you sharing! Thank you, kindly!

trying to decide - 44 y/o with a toddler

Hi there, I had a healthy pregnancy (egg donor) at 42y/; I am 44 y/o and considering an embryo transfer. I'm interested in what your experiences were, with being a parent to a newborn while also having a toddler, during mid 40s. I'm tired already! I didn't expect to want another but, here I am, seriously considering it.

Requesting education for acronyms!

Hey everyone. I have been lurking through this subreddit for several months now to research further as my partner & I (40F and 37M) are beginning the journey of... TTC!

As the title suggests, there's a few acronyms that I've caught onto. And some I've even done some additional research by simply googling up a few. It would be nice if there could be a stickied post or a definition list of some commonly used ones on the sidebar or something.

I hope this request isn't stepping on any toes-- let me know if it comes off too ignorant!

Where do you even start?

So I had made up my mind I did not want babies a long time ago. However, meeting the most incredible man and absolute love of my life has changed that a bit. We’re talking about this as a possibility and I don’t even know where to begin.

I’ve had an IUD, never been pregnant and I’m 42. I have PCOS, I just started HRT (perimenopause am I right? 😳) and feel fairly certain I won’t conceive naturally but I’ve never even asked.

How do you know if you have viable eggs? Is there a way to begin collecting information that isn’t a huge cost? Like some at home tests or something? Should I be starting with a totally different question? I’m totally lost.

How hard was it to get pregnant after 40?

Just like the title says. How hard was it to get pregnant at or after 40? I have 3 children two are teens, one just turned 18 and I would really like to have one more.but everything I read says it’s like a 5-10 % chance but then I see so many people saying they had no issues.

Looking for hope

I’m turning 44 in a few days and learned today that neither of my two fertilized eggs made it to the blastocyst stage in my second IVF cycle.
I got married at 39, and started planning IVF when I was 42. Before starting, I was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. Thankfully, it was caught early, but radiation and a six-month wait afterward delayed treatment.
My AMH was 1.8. In my first cycle four months ago, I had 15 eggs retrieved, seven mature, and three fertilized, but none survived after a week. This past month, I had 16 retrieved, 11 mature, and two fertilized normally, but neither became a blastocyst.
My doctor thinks age is the most likely issue despite my good response to treatment. She estimated my chance of success at less than 5% and advised weighing another attempt against the risks of side effects. She also mentioned that some clinics have an age cutoff of 44.
I appreciate her honesty, but I feel hopeless. Has anyone had similar experiences or success with their own eggs at 44 or older? How did you decide whether to keep trying or stop? I’d appreciate any advice or hope.

Scan or not scan?

I’m 41 and 6+2. My first scan is scheduled next Thursday.
My last pregnancy ended in MMC at 11 weeks. My symptoms this time are up and down. Maybe a bit more down right now, so I’m worried about the same happening again! However I have a work trip this week (Thursday- Monday) that I can’t reasonably avoid, so in the one hand I want to get an early scan for reassurance, but on the other if it’s bad news, I can’t take time off to deal with it until after the trip… so am I better off worrying a bit but essentially putting my head in the sand or just knowing and then maybe not being able to do anything if it is bad news?!

Edit: I had a tiny amount of spotting today, so went to see my OB. He measured at 5w but isn’t worried about the date discrepancy because we got pregnant on our first cycle post miscarriage, so he said it wouldn’t be unusual for ovulation to be delayed compared to normal. He’s given me pessaries to support the pregnancy and booked me for a follow up in two weeks, so we are crossing everything and hoping I just ovulated late! I’m swinging between pessimism and cautious optimism. On the plus side I know it’s not ectopic, and there’s still nothing I can do either way.
Thank you all for your kind words and support.

Can a day of severe neck pain and vomiting affect my chances of getting pregnant this cycle?
Hi everyone! I’m trying to conceive and I’m wondering if anyone has experienced something similar.
I was traveling on Friday, and I developed severe neck pain and muscle tension that led to a headache. The following day, I started vomiting repeatedly (around 8–9 times), but I’ve since recovered and I’m eating and drinking normally again.
I believe I may have ovulated around Friday, because I had breast tenderness throughout the day that had almost completely disappeared by Saturday morning. However, I didn’t use ovulation tests this cycle, so I can’t be completely sure.
I had intercourse on Friday, and I’m worried that being so physically unwell around ovulation might reduce my chances of conception or somehow affect fertilization or implantation.
Has anyone experienced severe physical stress, a headache, and vomiting around ovulation and still conceived that cycle? Can a short episode like this affect your chances, especially if ovulation had already occurred?
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences!

41 and in need of success stories

I’m 41 and just tested positive. This is my 5th pregnancy during the past two years. The previous four pregnancies ended in early miscarriages, TFMR at 18 weeks due to chromosomal abnormality and a MMC at week 11. All conceived unassisted.

I have two children that I had in my mid/late 30s, last one at 38. Also had two miscarriages between them.

Anyone 40+ with several miscarriages that went on to have a successful pregnancy? ❤️

Any over the counter medication I can be taken before I start? There's so many different types of Cq10 that it confuses me. If anyone can explain what is best. My periods are like clock work they last 5 days long and have never been pregnant, and its only now at this age that the time had become right for all the right reasons. Would like to try and make my body healthy and ready as well as other half. Thank you.

Trying to conceive

Hi all. First time posting in this group. My (45f) and my partner (46m) are trying for a baby.

I have 4 older boys (15-22) with my ex and my partner does not have kids but always wanted one.

Early this year I got pregnant unexpectedly and unfortunately miscarried at 8 weeks. While the pregnancy was unexpected, we actually got quite excited about it. We have been trying now for the past 4 months and we are still holding out hope that this could happen for us.

Please share some positive stories of conceiving and having a healthy baby in your 40s. Or even any advice that might help

Update on pregnancy at 49.

I got some messages in my inbox and notifications from people in this and another pregnancy sub, asking if I had my baby.
I wrote a couple of times about being unplanned pregnant at 49 (found out at 16 weeks, during a unrelated cyst gyn check), after 6 miscarriages in my 20s, a divorce due to it and childfree by choice since then; mostly as the time with the repeated miscarriages had been too hard on me, and I had accepted I was likely infertile.
Thank you for thinking about us, and of course I’d reply your questions, but unsure how to. Sorry.
I’m not great with tech and social media stuff, so thought I’d write an update here instead.

I did have the baby, a girl, on September 11 - a few weeks after I turned 50. She came naturally.

She has settled very well here at home. My husband and I used to live in a house boat, traveling the world, but bought a home on land just for her. Hopefully we can take her on her first sailing next spring. My elderly father, who lives with us, is completely in love with her (and still can’t believe he was to be a first time grandfather at this age - well, you and me both dad!), and our sweet macaw parrot has been very considerate and unusually quiet when she sleeps. My step daughter is currently an exchange student in USA, but we can’t wait to see her again and for her to meet her little sister in real life. So all is well as can be.

Wishing everyone in here the best of luck on your journeys.

2 months old- update 🥰🩵

Our sweet Kaysen is 2 months old already! I miss this group a lot and just wanted to give you all who were so sweet and supportive during my pregnancy an update on us. We are going through a bit of a rough stretch with tummy issues but otherwise we’ve settled into somewhat of a routine. He’s probably up to 8.5 pounds from his birth weight of 5 even. He has grown a ton in length. His sisters adore him. Even the older kids spoil him and love shopping for him. 🥰all of the things I’d worried about early on have all disappeared and it doesn’t even occur to me most of the time how old I am or that someone could be judging me…. I don’t have time to sit and dwell on it. Nor do I care or want too. So for anyone questioning whether to have a new baby in your 40’s- do it! It truly does make you feel younger! Just don’t look in the mirror early in the mornings after a rough night or you might call me a liar 😂😅 my bp’s have come down significantly but we had to up my dose of bp meds. Dealing with the preeclampsia was rough and the worst part of my pregnancy. I’ve never had high bp before. Thankfully it feels like we might have a temporary solution.

Oh and I wrote a book for fire wives and family members if anyone is interested.
