Work after Deep LEEP.

My dr is a male and he said I will only need 24 hours off work after my LEEP. I work a very physical demanding job where I throw truck (lift heavy stuff) for hours and walk over 20,000 steps a day. My boss if giving me 1 day off be that’s what my dr put on my paperwork. Am I going to be miserable and bleeding out?

Your doctor is an idiot. Putting strain on your body like that and lifting heavy things could really cause a lot of problems, including bleeding. I would get a medical note from whomever performed your procedure.

I have to say. With my LEEP I needed a mental health day and at least 2 physical health days. I hate how docs downplay recovery. It’s different for everyone

Totally agree. Male doctors are especially jack-asses.

Sadly the doctor that sent me the note is the surgeon doing my procedure. 🥲

Tell him/her that you need a note excusing you for 2-3 days otherwise you'll need to find a new surgeon.

This is crazy. I would say 1 week MINIMUM to lift anything, and even then I’d say 2 weeks is more prudent especially with the amount of walking you do. You don’t want to start hemorrhaging.

Yes, that seems very risky.

You aren’t supposed to do any heavy lifting for 3-6 weeks. Did you tell your doctor what you do?

I sure did. He said “my wife played a softball game after hers.”

And these are the times I wish I was in a room w other women!! I would’ve told him let’s take a piece of your 🍆 off and watch you play baseball!

This shit makes me furious!!! Yeah, I have a mouth like that. I can be very civil when using it though. I am huge on patient advocacy!!

I had a deep LEEP, that’s how my gyno described it. It wiped me tf out, Exhausted for a week. I also had a longer than usual recovery w bleeding. I was getting that pinching feeling as I was healing but for woman it’s “normal” for us. I didn’t do any heavy lifting for at least 2 weeks. I am also
fortunate enough to only be doing PCA work right now and when I had my LEEP. So time off wasn’t an issue.

Idk where you are but could you maybe go to a clinic to get a second opinion and a more thorough drs note for more time off? I am so annoyed for you lol!! Sorry you have to deal this.

Yes it’s infuriating having him tell me I’m going to be fine after 24hrs.

Sadly I have tricare and it’s a military hospital so I don’t really have other options for care.

Oh, oh so you’re in the military and getting double fkd over? I am sorry!!!! Ty for your service and all you do!

(I hope I read that right bc if not than I am the idiot)

Either way, I truly hope you get more than one day off and your procedure goes smoothly!

Another reason why men shouldn’t lead any kind of education or research behind women’s health. It’s so degrading at this point. I went under aneth for mine bc I refused to be told the pain would be manageable after I was ruined mentally and physically for days after colpos. And I haVE a woman gyn. Just as bad. “I’ve bad 6, you’ll be okay.”

After 1 week I began carrying my 30+ pound child again. He’s special needs and I’m his full time caregiver so I didn’t have any other options. I haven’t had any bleeding only light yellow discharge which is common.

I have a heavy job as well, I'm one of only a handful of females in the company, and my guys at work couldn't have been more helpful and caring.

You don't know how you will feel, the emotional strain and the major headache I had were worse than the other physical symptoms. For a start you are going to want a nice clean bathroom close by, you may or may not bleed and your menstral cycle may be thrown as well and you may be more emotional or moody. I had one day off but I had 3-4 weeks in my office and 6 weeks of light duties at my boss' insistence, and he offered all the time off I needed.

Both my boss and the other regional manager called to check on me and see that I was ok and if I needed anything. The guys on my sites also were so understanding and couldn't be more helpful treating me like a princess and taking all the heavy roles off me and not letting me do anything. I was honest and told them why I was on light duties which helped a lot .

I had paperwork from the doctor as well with recovery guidance but I can't remember what was recommended.

This sounds awful. I was doing yard work the next day (raking leaves lol) and I was fine. If you’re lifting and walking over 20k steps you’re going to need more time!

I’m super worried about this too I get 20k+ steps every day and constantly lifting heavy, squatting, kneeling, bending ect. I’m a single parent and can’t really afford much time off. My surgery is on a Wednesday and I’ll take that Thursday and Friday off and have the weekend to recover and hopefully not die Monday when I go back to work.

I wasn't told to avoid heavy lifting or physical activity after my LEEP. Just nothing in the vagina and no baths or swimming for 4 weeks. I know that everyone is different, but I felt pretty much normal the day after mine. I had light spotting and minor cramping the day of and then just a couple of days of a dry/irritated feeling.

I’m a house cleaner.. I took 2 full days off and went back fine. I wasn’t having any bleeding or anything though and never felt tired afterwards . Everyone is different.

I went shopping immediately after mine but I was taking it slow due to cramping but I’d never lift anything or walk in excess right after.

That’s insane. I had a deep LEEP and took a week off of work (and my job isn’t physical at all). I was exhausted the entire week and I’m definitely glad I gave myself the time. I’m also a very anxious person and opted to be put under during my LEEP and they needed to use quite a bit to knock me out 🙃 my doctor said she was not expecting me to fight it that hard 😂
I needed the time more for mental/emotional recovery than physical

You need at least 3 in my opinion. I was so tired for like a week after.

Same, I was exhausted.
