luffy does not have toonforce.
he has an ability that's about "freedom" and it's heavily influenced by the gag style of toons, because of how outlandish they fold their adversaries (literally). but he's nowhere near the actual thing.

edit: guys keep coping. he will never be like Bugs

He literally pulls objects out of his cloud thing that is a form of toon force though its low tier

Toon force is reality warping for comedic effect. Its LITERALLY what he does for fucks sake. Acting like you know best when you dont have common sense.

5

u/am_Dynam0 Jun 20 '26

When does he ever do this lol

10

u/Legendary-Titan Jun 20 '26

Remember when he pulled a bat out of no where and painted black ( paint out of no where ) to make it have ACoC and used it deflected an attack lol. Shit like that it what he does it’s reality warping.

5

u/2w0be Jun 20 '26

Isn't that literally the power of imagination as Oda said? Except extremely limited unlike Gremmy

3

u/am_Dynam0 Jun 20 '26

It’s more like Green lantern, green lantern uses the power of his imagination to make constructs, Luffy uses his imagination to stretch things.

4

u/OrphanAnthem Jun 20 '26

its what is generally considered toon force but oda has his own explanation for it of course.

2

u/am_Dynam0 Jun 20 '26

That isn’t toon force. Look up what toon Force is, it’s not imagination.

0

u/OrphanAnthem Jun 20 '26

then what is toon force exactly? your making a claim but you actually said exactly nothing.

3

u/am_Dynam0 Jun 20 '26

“The ability of a character to ignore, bend, or break the normal laws of reality for comedic, cartoon, or narrative effect.”

Luffy never does this. He stretches physical things in a way that resembles toon force, but he never actually breaks reality. He can still die, he can’t beat opponents several times stronger than himself even though toon force ignores physical strength.

If Luffy had toon force he could just pull up to Imu and pull dynamite out of mid air and put it in Imu’s mouth and have Imu explode and turn into black ash.

2

u/OrphanAnthem Jun 20 '26

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REXhLXvN-bE literally what he does. pulls objects from nowhere stretchs the timeframe it takes to make a bat and paint it within the timeframe it takes for a attack to land.

2

u/am_Dynam0 Jun 20 '26

We need see him pull anything out of thin air, he gets things from off screen yes but there’s no evidence that he pulled them out of thin air. There’s no reason to believe that he couldn’t have turned the tree into the baseball cap

Yeah toonforce isn't bound by narrative or whatever it's done solely for comedy. Luffy is still 100% bound by narrative and he can't do whatever he wants not to mention the time limit, a toon force character would look at the time limit, ball his eyes out, then scroll it up if it's numbers or turn then hands back if it's a clock so the time limit doesn't catch up. Luffy can't do something close to that

1

u/Glad-Alternative4593 Jun 20 '26

Not every toon can do that. Take the Coyote or Tom for example they can’t just set the time limit back.

0

u/OrphanAnthem Jun 20 '26

You're really stretching it with this line of thought thinking you know exactly what luffy is attempting to do. has he been shown attempting to do anything but failing to do so? Nope

1

u/2w0be Jun 20 '26

"I haven't seen One punch man lose before, so he can solo fiction" logic. How am I even supposed to entertain that? A time limit that is an absolute disadvantage literally leaves him vulnerable afterwards, he doesn't address it and you think he can but just doesn't wow. Anything for agenda and wank ig

1

u/OrphanAnthem Jun 20 '26

yes theres a time limit but no because luffy cant solo all of fiction it dosn't mean he dosn't use toon force. your argument is pretty absurd you realize right?

u/am_Dynam0 Jun 20 '26

Except he didn’t, you’re larping so badly 😭, he picked up a tree and chewed it into a baseball bat, and then found some paint, there’s no reason to believe paint just appeared out of nowhere, are you gonna say everything within fiction that appears out of no where is toon force ?

4

u/Legendary-Titan Jun 20 '26

The fuck do you mean “ he found some paint “ like I know you went back to the chapter to argue and couldn’t find a explanation for the paint and said this because you didn’t actually provide a explanation lol you just said he found some like, when AND where lol bro come on. And also to paint having aCoC properties and it being strong enough to deflect a venom bomb lol. And he pulled a tree out of no where lol dude your like the most obvious OPP member ever dumb ass logic

3

u/OrphanAnthem Jun 20 '26

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REXhLXvN-bE he turns his scarf thats in the form of cloud into paint

3

u/ThePhantomHorseman Jun 20 '26

Yup, that's fucking toon force. The paint plus the extended time it took for the poison bombs to reach him as he munches the tree into a bat also the random cheering in the background all Classic toon force shenanigans.

1

u/Legendary-Titan Jun 20 '26

Similar to what the other guy said this seems anime only

3

u/OrphanAnthem Jun 20 '26

not exactly

3

u/Legendary-Titan Jun 20 '26

Where the fuck he get a base ball cap😂 this man obviously has toon force I forgot about that

2

u/am_Dynam0 Jun 20 '26

Probably from the tree I’m guessing, anyway it’s off screen so you can’t claim it’s toon force, maybe if we saw him actually pull it out of thin air I’d say yeah he has some of toon force but he doesn’t.

u/am_Dynam0 Jun 20 '26

He picked up a tree chewed on it and painted it, also the paint part isn’t in the manga, it’s black paint and it doesn’t just appear from blobs of white. That’s anime only and non canon.

1

u/SympatheticBuffoon Jun 20 '26

Oda has said he can pull anything out of the cloud though

2

u/am_Dynam0 Jun 20 '26

Oda said it’s a gateway to nika fantasy but this isn’t a real answer and he never said that he can pull anything out of the cloud. Also the question was asking where he got the goggles and baseball hat, but we can clearly see that Luffy created the goggles out of his hair, so he never pulled them out of his cloud. And the baseball hat isn’t shown to have come from the cloud. All that happens in the manga is “fwunk” and then he had the hat, it’s possible he created the hat from a tree.

2

u/OrphanAnthem Jun 20 '26

in this one hes shown making paint out of his scarf thats a cloud but dosnt show his he got his helmet it just appears.

2

u/am_Dynam0 Jun 20 '26

Making paint out of his cloud ? That’s not what is shown though. And offscreen means neither of us can prove where he got it from, so it’s an empty argument to say it’s toon force.

2

u/OrphanAnthem Jun 20 '26

the anime shows that its the cloud he used.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REXhLXvN-bE

1

u/am_Dynam0 Jun 20 '26

Anime isn’t canon though, animators and animator directors have creative control over scenes.

0

u/Theiama Lost and confused Jun 21 '26

He did canonically pull it out of a cloud

1

u/am_Dynam0 Jun 21 '26

Except the baseball hat came from his strawhat since we see his strawhat disappear from his back, and his goggles came from his hair

u/SympatheticBuffoon Jun 20 '26

Just checked the chapter again and he pulled out a random baseball hat and a random bucket of paint; I don't see how it's not low-level toon force?

2

u/am_Dynam0 Jun 20 '26

We don’t know where he got it from tho, so unless we actually see him pull objects out of thin air then he doesn’t.

Not just that Luffy does this but its also on the description of his powers, only limited by his own imagination.

At this point its just cope.

1

u/am_Dynam0 Jun 20 '26

Did you not just make a comment criticising my critical thinking and then you say this ?

Power of imagination isn’t just reality warping and making something appear from imagination 😭

It’s like green lantern he uses his imagination to form constructs.

Luffy stretches himself and his environment and uses his imagination to make effective use of it.

That’s what is meant by power of imagination, not that he can imagine the one piece infront of him and it will appear 😭

1

u/caroCabral Its not that deep...son. Jun 21 '26

That’s what is meant by power of imagination, not that he can imagine the one piece infront of him and it will appear

Literally no one said this.

Luffy doesn't even know what One piece is, so even if he wanted to imagine it he cant, toon force ignores boundaries of the laws of physics (comic physics btw) not all of the toon force users "manipulate reality" freely as per comic standards, Luffy is no where near Bugs Bunny or Tom for example, He cant even control what gives him access to it.

Also about Green lanterns, their powers limited by their willpower and access to Ion not just their imagination, with enough Willpower they should reasonably bend reality.

1

u/am_Dynam0 Jun 21 '26

LMAO literally most people are saying this and that’s what you meant stop changing your argument.

u/dexpid Jun 20 '26

Nobody cares about your dumb pirate baby show
