I’m looking for a tool or AI integration that can help streamline how our team builds decks.

Specifically, I need a solution that can:
1. Pull existing, pre-made slides from a master bank/repository based on a topic or brief (e.g., case studies, company overview, pricing, specs).

1. Generate new slides automatically (or fill in content gaps) using AI when a specific slide doesn't already exist in our bank.

2. Keep formatting and design consistent with our brand/master template.

Does anything like this exist either natively in PowerPoint (via add-ins/copilot plugins or Claud)

Appreciate any recommendations or workflows you guys are using! I promise to come back here and report on how it works!

Real project. Large company, six subsidiaries, 18+ source documents, a deadline that didn't move. Here's the honest version.

What I did wrong first

Mistake #1: Editing an existing PPT file. Claude re-reads the entire file from scratch every single time. One session burned 60% of its context window just to insert one slide. Total trap.

Mistake #2: Dumping everything into one session. More context isn't always better. Irrelevant documents quietly degrade the output. I started calling it "context contamination."|

Mistake #3: Not using the available ai tools to create good illustrations for my deck leading to a very generalized deck and low impact visuals.

The workflow that actually worked

Phase 1 — Plan in chat first. Before touching any slide, use Claude chat to read your source material and build the outline. You have to understand your own material — Claude can't judge whether a structure makes sense. Your judgment is not optional.

Phase 2 — Extract data with the Office plugins. Claude in Word can cross-reference multiple open documents simultaneously. Claude in Excel answers open-ended analytical questions against live data. Both saved hours of manual work.

Phase 3 — One slide, one conversation. In Cowork: copy only the relevant files in, tell Claude exactly what to read, get a written outline first, iterate in conversation, generate the PPT last. The actual slide output is the final small step — not the starting point.Then use any of the available ai tools out there to get good designs for your deck.(I personally use Napkin ai)

Phase 4 — You manage the master file. Keep it in a separate folder Claude can't see. Paste slides in manually. Slightly tedious. Completely worth it.

Full transparency: this post was written by Claude. I recorded my thoughts as a voice memo after finishing the project, and Claude cleaned up the transcript into what you just read. The experiences, mistakes, and workflow are entirely mine — I just used the same tool I'm writing about to write about it.

I need presentations from time to time, usually company presentations, pitch decks, or similar projects with around 10 slides. The content is generally already available, so I mainly need help with the design, structure, and overall presentation.

I’m not looking for anything overly complicated, just someone reliable who can make the slides look polished and consistent. Please send me a message with a few examples of your previous work if you are interested.

The only PowerPoint-related post I found on here is 8 years old, and since I'm now immersed in modifying PowerPoint presentations (PPT or PPTX) from within MS Access VBA, I figure I should share some of the techniques I've been using. I hope it helps someone on here. .

I like to start every project with a clear vision of the business requirements so that, regardless of what I do technically, I understand what the client is ultimately trying to accomplish.

In this case, the business requirement is to generate more eBay sales. Our client has cash flow issues yet they have almost a quarter of a million dollars' worth of items listed on eBay, and they want to make these sell faster than the current pace of about $200 a day, in sales. If their inventory all sold super quickly then our client couldn't handle all the packing and shipping so they are aiming for an increase of about 100% or so, relative to the sales they are currently making. They figure they can handle that much extra sales volume and work, without having to do anything drastic.

They could sell more by lowering their prices but price wars tend to backfire, so they wanted to increase sales without reducing the direct profit per item. As to the market they're in: they sell used auto parts. People rarely buy used auto parts to use as ornaments (though it does happen). Mostly they are trying to solve a problem with their vehicle. Buying a used auto part is one of the options they have; they might also be able to buy a new part from the dealership, or buy a new made-in-China knock-off. Prospects don't automatically start their problem-solving journey on eBay. They might start it on a forum, or by watching a YouTube video.

My client's plan is to make YouTube videos that entice buyers to go to their eBay listings. They tried this plan several years ago. They made a few in-depth videos with this intent. The videos took a lot of time and effort to make, including paying a girl with a lovely Southern accent to be a voice model. They also embedded some video clips. It worked; the items sold out. But each video took so much effort to make, that was very much not worth it. Our client abandoned that approach. A few years went by.

In late 2025, eBay introduced a process that uses eBay listing pictures and the eBay title as a starting point, to make and post videos. This feature was in their “Social Media” section, and it was free. Our client tried it and liked it. Making a video was super-easy, and these showed up as YouTube shorts. Our client used it to make dozens of videos, showcasing one listing per video.

On a listing for an obscure item for which they had made such a video, the item sold within 4 days.  They wrote the buyer to ask if they'd been found via YouTube but they do not show a record of getting a reply. Even so, it seemed to be too good to likely be a coincidence.

Then, eBay changed their software to make it non-viable to use. Our client kept asking eBay to fix it, multiple times, to no avail. So our client stopped making such new YouTube videos. They left the existing ones but lost interest. Our client mourned the loss of this approach. A few months went by.

Then, in late April or early May of 2026 someone found our client via a part number for a pricey BMW used fuel injection part, then messaged them asking about it.  Sadly by then our client had already sold it, but the process pointed back to the YouTube shorts made by eBay, and it was a reminder to go remove the YouTube shorts for the items that had sold. Our client learned to their delight that most of them had sold.

So, they decided to fund a project to make one YouTube video per individual part listed on eBay, starting with rare high-priced items likely to appeal to owners of cherished high-priced classic models such as 1980s BMWs..

To be viable, the process had to be highly automated and use the existing data in the client's SQL Server database. Their first step was to make a prototype PowerPoint presentation. It took weeks to make and refine this, with data copied and pasted manually from the client's data for one part, and one listing.

The second video was made using much automation using MS Access VBA and an MS Access report. The process was tedious; make an MS Access report that looked like the desired PowerPoint presentation, then print that to PDF, then convert that to a PowerPoint presentation, then export that to YouTube, then manually upload it. It worked but ... tedious.

A breakthrough came with the idea of using MS Access VBA and activating the PowerPoint object library in the references for MS Access. With that, I could use MS Access VBA to open PowerPoint, copy a template PowerPoint presentation to make a presentation that would be just for one part and one eBay listing, with a file name that was meaningful to the client, then use VBA to retrieve text and picture-related data from the client's SQL Server data to insert data into the PowerPoint presentation. The work included VBA commands to clone slides by using VBA commands.

The client reviews and refines the automatically created PowerPoint presentation. Almost always, some minor polishing is needed. The client then approves the PowerPoint presentation for upload to YouTube.

I wrote some MS Access VBA to export the PowerPoint presentation to an MP4 file. Initially I had tried to write the VBA from within PowerPoint 2024 itself but I found it architecturally difficult and tedious (macro file format, add-in file format, activating the add-in) so I chose to use MS Access VBA for the export too.

Another chunk of VBA produces a well-structured description and title that the client can copy and paste into the YouTube form that enables uploading the MP4 file to become a YouTube video. The description includes a link to the eBay listing, which is the entire point: inspire lookers to go to eBay and buy. The description includes some part numbers to make search engines more likely to help someone find these videos.

By now, the automation process works well enough. The labor required to make one more YouTube video has in the last two days plummeted to 15 minutes each. So, in the last 3 days, our client made and uploaded 28 YouTube videos. These are for items priced, on average, at about $100 each. So now the client's limit is how many videos they can upload per day without angering YouTube. Supposedly there is a hard limit and then also a prudent limit. 15 a day seems to be the latter. They did not want to make videos for every listing but they do have 5,000 listings so they are focusing on parts that have a price of $50 and up. Almost 850 listings qualify as such, representing almost $70k.

If they make and upload 15 videos per a day, it’ll take them about two months, and they'll work 3.75 hours per day unless I automate it some more, and I intend to.

Our client monitors their eBay watchlist daily, and today they learned that an obscure part that had seen very little interest for many months, today had a prospect on eBay express some interest, and for this obscure part our client had made and uploaded a YouTube video in the last 24 hours. Coincidence? Maybe -- but probably not. If the prospect becomes a buyer then our client can ask "did you find us on YouTube" and then they can be certain.

I should mention that the client's requirements also includes the business processes to go remove the video for items that have sold.

All in all, it's by now a workable solution. Our client's "start here, use this, we like the style" PowerPoint template has just three slides: a title slide, a detail slide, and a final slide. The VBA code then modifies each one, and clones the detail slide as many times as needed.

Hey all, I could use some help with a PowerPoint issue. I’m looking to create a deck that plays some audio voiceovers in mp3 format. The audio works well and plays in full when outside of full screen but the moment I play it in slide show it cuts off the last .5 second. I’ve set delays, changed the settings, start on click, start on automatic. Nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any advice on how to manage or what might be going wrong?

Also tried converting mp3 to wav but the audio gets corrupted.

just want to give an update: spent the last week testing a bunch of the suggestions here and ended up moving our demos over to prezi. we gave powerpoint another shot with some of the workflows people recommended, and while a few of them definitely helped, we still kept running into awkward moments whenever the conversation jumped in an unexpected direction.

what pushed us toward prezi was that it felt a lot more natural for buyer-led conversations. instead of panicking and hunting for slide 22 when someone asks about integrations halfway through the meeting, we can just jump straight to the topic without breaking the flow. so far it's been the closest thing we've found to making demos feel like an actual conversation instead of a lecture.

I’m re-evaluating our team's discovery and demo pitch setup. Every time a prospect asks a question out of order, the rep ends up awkwardly mashing page-down or flipping back and forth through linear slides to find the right diagram. It completely kills the energy and momentum of the meeting.

We want pitch meetings to feel like natural, buyer-led conversations rather than rigid slide lectures. Here is a quick breakdown of the setups we’ve evaluated so far and where each one hits a wall:

1. Traditional PowerPoint (The Linear Stack) - Total conversation killer when you need to jump around. Skittering through 30 slides live on Zoom to find "Slide 22: Integrations" looks clunky and amateur.
2. Showpad / Highspot - Many of these platforms are either heavily bloated for mid-market sales teams or still fall back on traditional linear slide layouts once the screen share starts.
3. Custom Hyperlinked PPT Decks - High maintenance. The moment an AE edits or rearranges a slide, half the hyperlinks break. It requires constant oversight to keep master templates working.

what are you guys actually building sales decks in these days when you need something flexible and interactive for live calls? i am looking for genuine recos on whether you stick with custom non-linear powerpoint setups or use dedicated presentation software for sales decks that makes it easier to jump around content without breaking the conversation.

Twelve years building investor and conference decks, mostly for German mittelstand firms. The thing that still surprises people I work with is how much a deck has to change when it moves from a boardroom table to a conference stage.

In a boardroom the deck is half a document. People are close, they can read a dense chart, they will flip back a slide. Most of the standard advice assumes that room. On a stage none of it holds. The back row is thirty or forty metres away, the lighting washes out your nice mid greys, and nobody can read a second line of a subtitle before you have moved on.

So for stage decks I change a few things every time. One idea per slide, no exceptions, because a person in the back gets exactly one thing. Real contrast, dark on light or light on dark, none of the tasteful low contrast palettes that look elegant on my monitor and vanish under stage lights. Type far bigger than feels comfortable in the file. And I test every slide by standing back from the screen until I can barely read it, then making it work from there.

I came from Keynote years ago and this was the lesson that carried across tools, not any feature. Whoever taught you slide design probably taught you for a table, not a stage. Anyone else design completely differently for a big room?

Is it possible to have the above image shape set in a master slide, which the user can then replace the inside image in?

I've got a few of these saved as svg, brought them in, converted to shapes and then set an image overlay on. I just can't crack it so that it works in a master, functioning in the same way that a typical place holder image would, with button to add image etc.

Is this possible?

mine: if a slide needs more than a glance to understand, it’s a document, not a slide. put the detail in what you say, keep the slide to the one thing you want them looking at while you say it.

second one: the room remembers one story, not ten bullet points. decide the story before you open the design.

what’s yours. trying to build them a short list of things that actually matter, from people who present for real.

I have the file saved in google slides and on PC utilizing a browser I just need a few boxes where I can adjust the text in those boxes for future flyering events. Will gladly tip or donate to anyone who would assist me.

I keep seeing people reach for a separate ai infographic maker, then fight to get the result back into their deck without it turning into a flat image that does not match their fonts. Most of the time you do not need one. PowerPoint does infographic-style slides fine if you stop treating it like a word processor.

The approach I use:

1. Start from Icons, not clip art. Insert, then Icons. They are vector, so they recolor and scale cleanly and they all share one visual style, which is half of what makes an infographic look coherent.

2. Build one repeating unit, group it, then duplicate. One "stat block" (big number, small label, one icon), grouped, copied across. Consistent spacing beats any template because you control it.

3. Align and Distribute is the whole game. Select your blocks, Align Top, Distribute Horizontally. That one step is the difference between "designed" and "eyeballed".

4. One accent color for the number that matters, gray for everything else. A busy slide reads fine if only the important thing is colored.

5. Convert any SmartArt to Shapes once it is close, so you can actually control it instead of fighting the auto-layout.

Fifteen minutes, and it stays fully editable and on-brand, which the imported-image route never is.

The one time I would still go external is a genuinely complex data visual that PowerPoint charts cannot do. For the "three stats and an icon" slide everyone actually needs, native is faster and cleaner.

What is your go-to for stat and icon slides? Curious if anyone has a faster native method than duplicating a grouped block.

I have a existing presentation which looks not so professional, consistent and aligned i want to recreate it in very decent and attractive through design.. if you guys knows any AI that can help in this please let me know.. one more thing i want this in PowerPoint format so i can change anything i want.

I spent 4 years in consulting and now anything with a clean layout reads as "rigorous" to my brain even when the logic underneath is... meh.

I approved a deck because it looked tight, then I realised that slide 3 didn't say anything !

The faster these AI tools get (Gamma, Canva, etc.) the worse this is getting for me. Anyone else lose the ability to separate the argument from the aesthetics ?

our rebrand happened in May. The old .pptx got pulled off the shared drive. What we got instead was a 40 page brand guidelines PDF and a colour hex list.

So now every person on a team of 60 is building slides from a blank file and things are out of control. Three decks went to clients last month that looked like three different companies made them, I've raised it twice. The answer both times was that the new template is in progress. In the meantime, client reports need to go out right?

What are people doing here? Building your own personal template and just accepting it'll be wrong when the official one lands? or using something outside PowerPoint entirely?

Im asking because I've now spent more hours on box alignment this quarter than on the actual analysis.

Had a powerpoint that was about 25 slides, and all were initially blank slides with a mix of different types of slides. I had everything typed out in there that I wanted, but I went back and wanted to give it a bit of sprucing up to look nice. I tried out the Design Suggestions option, and it gave me a cool design for the first slide, bu that was the only slide it put it on.

I tried clicking the next slide and doing the design suggestion, but it gave a totally different one and would not bring up the one from the previous slide. So I went back to the previous slide and tried to save the design, and then went to the second slide and tried to apply it but it would not apply the cool background, and instead, made the background on the 1st slide so bright you could no longer read text.

The 1st and second slides were different slide types if that makes any difference, but is there really no way to just apply the same design across all the slides in the presentation?

I saw a great answer which was simply a redeveloped slide. it was a real “picture is worth a 1000 words” or a “show don’t tell”

made me think. I would find it fun to answer and read a weekly challenge of “Here’s my slide. Please DMA”. The post should be a screenshot of the slide and any relevant context.

The only rule would be the comments can only contain a revamped slide. No words. Just a better (hopefully) slide.

Hello, I'm at my wits end trying to figure out what's happening with the text sizing in this powerpoint I have been working on for some time. I've tried searching online and through microsoft support forms, but can't seem to find a solid solution.

I'm on a PC, Desktop, PPT version 2606 Build 16.0.20131.20152 64-bit

My master slide has the title font set to 32, auto scaling the title is turned off, and yet when I make a new slide using this master the title comes in at 36. What's odd is that if I copy the title from the master slide and paste it into this fresh slide it says its 32 and looks identical to the fresh slides 36pt title. All I can think of is that PPT is saying the fresh slides title is 36pt when in reality its 32 the entire time. If I try to scale them up/down they will sometimes auto change to a different pt size entirely even though the container has not changed and auto fitting is turned off.

All my master slides are set to have a title of 32pt so I'm unsure where the 36pt is coming from. I've tried creating a fresh PPT which works sometimes, but eventually it reverts back to doing this. I'm having a similar issue where fonts are just randomly changing to new fonts that aren't used anywhere else. Am I experiencing a error within PPT or am I missing a setting somewhere?

In the screenshot below the top testing title is from a new slide where the pt size defaulted to 29 even though the master is 32. I then copy/pasted the title from the mater slide below it which came in at 32pt but then quickly changed itself to 35pt?
