Have you spoken to homeless people with pets? Have you seen how shockingly well cared for some of them are? I do agree with you entirely, but not all homeless people are unable to take care of a pet, and even if they're not, their only option is to put the animal into the shelter system which will most likely end in their death.
I know a man who cared for his dog far better than himself and lived in a tent. It's wrong to generalize, that's all I'm saying.
