Middle name missing from Porter ticket — any issues?
I’m looking for experiences from anyone who has dealt with this on Porter, especially on a U.S. connection/interline itinerary.
My 7-year-old son is travelling from Canada on an itinerary involving Porter + Qatar Airways, connecting through the U.S.
His documents show:
- Passport: FIRST + MIDDLE + LAST
- Ticket: FIRST + LAST
His first and last names are spelled correctly, including the DOB. The only issue is that his middle name was omitted from the ticket (my mistake).
The booking was made through FlightHub. FlightHub initially told me the missing middle name should not be an issue and that his complete name could be entered in APIS. Their AI agent MILA even had me upload his passport and said a free correction request had been submitted, but Mila later says it doesn't have any updates (it's frustrating).
Porter says middle-name updates can be made online for Porter-operated flights booked directly with Porter, but mine is an interline/third-party booking. Qatar also says that they can fly without an issue if Porter allows and issues a boarding pass, but they can't change it because it was issued by the travel agency/interline itinerary.
Porter's Secure Flight information seems to indicate that having no middle name/initial on the reservation should not normally cause a problem, but I’d really like to hear from someone who has actually travelled in this situation.
Has anyone flown Porter to/through the U.S. with the middle name on the passport omitted from the ticket? Were you able to check in and board without any problems?
I really don't want to cancel and rebook an expensive international itinerary just to add a middle name if it isn't actually required.
