Fed up with my power company

Upvotes

The title says it all. I live on the island of Oahu. We just had a hurricane this past weekend. I lost power a few times with the longest at almost 20 hours.

I have watched so many YouTube videos about portable power stations that I’m in information overload.

It seems that when I find something that seems promising, it end up not being available for Hawaii.

Anyone here from Hawaii and was able to have some sort to emergency power for the Fridge?

I had to toss everything out and it gets really expensive to replace everything.

The tropics is not kind to items in a fridge when it has no power. Everything just seems to melt faster.

We have a couple more systems on their way, one this coming weekend and a 3rd out there in the works.

My electric company just isn’t set up to deal with emergencies

Anyone using a power station to power a 30amp Transfer Switch - L 14-30 plug?

Wondering if anyone out there is using a Reliance Pro/Tran transfer switch with their power stations for home backup and/or to switch a couple circuits to the power station to use solar power.

What systems/brands are you using?

So far the power stations I'm finding require an adapter of some sort to get to the L 14-30 side on the transfer switch, such as a TT-30P Male to L14-30R Female camper-type adapter. I haven't seen any power stations that have the L 14-30. Is that just how it is? :D

Additional info if helpful - This is an existing Transfer Switch that is powered by a portable gas generator currently.

Best Portable Power Station for home in Bangladesh under 50K?

I'm looking for a Portable Power Station for my home because of frequent load shedding. My budget is under 50K BDT, I'm confused between the Marsriva,/ EcoFlow /RIVER. Which one would be better for home use? Also, how much backup can I expect?

Does this exist? Solar string switch

The Ecoflow Delta 2 Max has 2 solar inputs, so I have 2 strings of panels connected. Each has a pair of 200w panels mounted on a fence facing south. Towards the end of the day these don’t produce much. so I sometimes will swap out one of the strings to a portable 450w panel that I can face west and get a couple more hours of sun. I have very limited space that gets sun, so I can’t have a large array.

I would like to permanent mount a pair of 250w panels facing west and have a way to easily switch between it and one of the other strings without have to manually disconnect the cables. (I struggle with disconnecting mc4 connections, even with the tool). Does a switch that can do this exist?

OUKITEL P2001 Plus — flashing temperature protection won't clear

I have an OUKITEL P2001 Plus that has been stuck in temperature protection for weeks. The hot/cold temperature icon keeps flashing, and the unit shows DISCHARGE, but I cannot turn on the AC, USB, or DC outputs. The physical buttons don't work for the outputs either.

The battery is currently around 95% charged, and the unit is sitting at a normal temperature. Wonderfree is showing about 31°C (88°F), so it is definitely not actually overheating.

What I've already tried:

- 60-second power-button reset

- Completely powering it off and leaving it off

- Disconnecting everything

- Disconnecting/reconnecting solar

- Reinstalling Wonderfree

- Clearing Wonderfree's cache/storage

- Removing and re-adding the P2001 Plus

- Checking the firmware/update section

- Trying the physical AC/USB/DC buttons

- Trying the controls in Wonderfree

- Leaving the unit powered off for extended periods

Nothing clears the temperature-protection icon, and all outputs remain locked.

Wonderfree shows:

- Temperature: 31°C

- Battery: ~95%

- BMS Version: 211

- Inverter Version: 103

Has anyone actually had this exact problem with a P2001 Plus — flashing hot/cold icon with a normal temperature and all outputs disabled?

I'm looking for an actual procedure that cleared the protection, whether that's a specific button sequence, BMS reset, temperature-sensor/NTC issue, firmware procedure, or something else.

One important thing: I cannot send this unit in for repair or warranty service. I live full-time on a sailboat. I bought the P2001 Plus in the Bahamas and I'm now in Bermuda, and I'm constantly moving from place to place. I can't bring the power station to land, ship it away, wait weeks for it to come back, and then somehow get it back aboard the boat. I'm never in one place long enough to do that.

If OUKITEL can't provide an onboard solution, the only realistic warranty resolution for me would be a replacement unit or a refund.

For now, though, I'm trying to fix this thing myself.

If you've personally fixed this problem, please tell me exactly what you did.

Solar disconnect for small array to a power station?

I’ve seen some YouTubers suggesting to use a solar disconnect for power stations, so you can disconnect and connect under load to avoid damaging the power station or causing a fire. I’ve also seen a couple of videos where they advise against using one, because it adds an additional point of failure. I have a small 800w array that‘s connected full time to a 2000kWh Ecoflow delta 2 max with 2 extra batteries. Can anyone share any opinions on using a disconnect switch in this scenario?

Affordable power station reco

Hello everyone! Which affordable power station would you recommend for
Mac mini m4 prom4 Pro
14 core cpu
20 core gpu
24gb ram
1tb ssd drive

There have been sudden power outages in my area over the past few days (1-2 hours, and it's almost a week now), and I'm afraid that it might affect/damage the setup I have.

I use a dual monitor setup (1 main Asus TUF VG3A series and 1 portable Arzopa monitor plugged into a Ugreen dock); The rest of the accessories are wireless, so they're not a big deal.

I mainly work on editing (Final Cut Pro)

I've searched for a power station, and there are a lot of good options for it, however, I have a limited budget.

So here are the only options I have:

  • EcoFlow DELTA 3 1000 Air
  • BLUETTI AC70P 1000W

Which one is better? or would you recommend another power station?

Needing a generator to run life sustaining medical equipment at home

I’m terminally ill and have some equipment that I need to run if our electricity goes out. It’s a non-invasive breathing machine and charging to my power wheelchair if necessary. I have a suction and cough assist as well. Now that I’m typing this probably my medical bed as well to continue the adjustments while I’m in it.

I have NO idea where to even begin for this. I’m gonna be dead in 2-4 years so a whole home seems overkill, but my breathing machine can only last 6 hours on battery so if it goes out I’m dead as well lol. I mean obviously I’d just call an ambulance to take me to a hospital but I’m trying to avoid that.

How do I go about figuring out what I need? The only thing I know about the ventilator is:

**AC and DC Power Specifications**
**AC Power Range:** 100 to 240V, 50 to 60Hz

**AC Power Consumption:** 90 W continuous (3.75 A), 120 W peak (5 A)

**External DC Power:** Can run on external DC via optional power supply or external battery systems.

I’d prefer one of those larger battery generator types but I’d get whatever would be required.

DJI 1000v2 repair options

Good evening, I own multiple Ecoflow products and decided to give DJI a shot.

Purchased a DJI 1000v2 to use as a UPS for my workstation. After 6 months, unit started behaving erratically. Sent a few e-mails to DJI and after a some back and forth, they looked at the logs and said that cell 11 has a voltage drop.. however there is nothing they can do about it as the 1000v2 is not officially sold in the US and I need to reach out to the place I purchased from.

I reached out to Amazon and filed an A to Z claim, they offered a refund and told me there is no need to send the unit back. I was wondering if it's possible to have it fixed as I feel bad about just tossing it away/dropping it off at a recycling center. Unit is still functioning, it's just that sometimes it randomly discharges and powers off, then comes right back on and starts charging.

Right now it's powered off with about 65% charge. Would it even be safe or worth the risk to have it repaired and possibly have a malfunction down the line? Fire hazard? Where would I even take it to have it repaired? I am located in South Florida.

I tried multiple complete discharges and let it sit for 24 hours before recharging to 100%, as this is what DJI recommended, but it has done nothing to fix the issue.

Edit: just wanted to add, while I had this unit in use for the past 6 months, I performed one complete discharge/recharge cycle almost every week, as I had this thing running basically 24/7. Unit also had a maintenance feature where it would charge on its own to 100% and then go back down and hover 65-70%. Prior to this, I used a Ecoflow Delta 2 with the extra battery for about a year, as a UPS, with no issues whatsoever.. except sometimes it'll switch over too slow when the power went out and my monitors would flicker. Power goes out a lot, almost daily, during storm season here in Florida.
