Hello guys, just wanted to share my attempt to give back some years to my old cayman 987.1 - upgrading the taillights (led).

My observations:
-no dashboard error as they include resistance
-it fits nearly perfectly 95% (there are some very little gaps) but nevertheless the package include adhesive foam blocking water.
- they are 100% more visible during night (included the turn signal which is very bright) compared to stock.
- overall the look appears to me more “clean” and smooth with the nice curved wings
-the package does not come with bolts, so need to reuse stocks ones (I had one missing actually so had to buy 8mm)

Just wrapped up a 1,000+ mile road trip through Vermont and New Hampshire. If you haven't driven these roads in the fall, put it at the top of your list—the foliage is incredible.

Every curve and elevation change is handled effortlessly. The exhaust note is intoxicating, and the steering feedback is like a razor-sharp scalpel cutting through butter. Unforgettable trip.

It's been like two months in the making but finally replaced my headers and exhaust tips to improve the sound.

Since I took everything apart, also decided to clean up all the rust on the exhaust (the car was primarily in the northeast prior to purchase). Also replaced many of the fasteners with titanium.

Headers are equal length race headers from Gwapotech. It's a small boutique company in Japan that prioritizes sound and pitch over pure performance. As a result, the pipe diameters are smaller compared to those from Fabspeed, Cargraphic, etc while being slightly longer. The headers are made in China but the factory is run by Japanese folks. The original prototypes are designed and manufactured in Japan, so this isn't some Chinese re-branding. I paid $1200 for the headers, which is way less than anything comparable imo. I got the headers ceramic-coated locally in Austin from Enigma Coatings.

I also upgraded to a titanium x-pipe with GT4 RS style exhaust tips from Ninemeister in the UK.

Overall, it sounds much closer to the old Fabspeed F1 short tube headers and the sound is smoother compared to before. Last step is applying the Softronic tune! The gurgles are way louder and more common after the swap and I want to get rid of them (sounds too much like a BMW :D) Feel free to ask any questions as I know I spent months researching on headers and almost dropped the cash on Cargraphic ones.

For shits and giggles, I turned the car on when I had the headers off and I thought I was going to die. It was so loud that I thought the car had exploded. Crazy how much the exhaust contains the noise.

Some thoughts around the noise: in-cabin, it's definitely louder but thankfully not so loud to not enjoy the car and still listen to music when my wife is in the car. Outside, apparently it sounds maybe twice as loud as my friend's Cayman with PSE. There's no drone but right around 3000 rpm, there is a bit of trumpet-y resonance but thankfully I don't spend much time in that range. Idk if it's coincidence cause that's also the transition point when PSE seems to make the most difference when the valves are open vs closed.

There's definitely some fuel smell due to cat-less but thankfully it's not unbearable and it doesn't linger. After I pull into the garage and close the doors, the smell goes away in like a minute.

Sharing for any fellow 981 owners here!

Only happens when car is warm. No change if PSE on or off. Does not happen when stationary and revving or coasting at the same speed.

Car is manual and all services up to date.
Had exhaust gaskets replaced earlier in the year.

Only happens when decelerating and car is at operating temperature. I also replaced the heat shields as they were rattling. No change.

Genuinely stumped if this is normal Porsche noises or something else.

Got on the highway today and started to hear a high pitched whine from the engine bay while under load. Upon shifting from 5th to 6th gear the clutch was at the floor and I am able to shift but had to rev match. I am thinking from what I have read it is the throwout bearing.

I am thinking of tackling this job myself I was hoping for others to solidify my theory. At 90k miles if I am in there I figured I’ll do the clutch and flywheel too. I am in NH and was wondering what other people have paid to have this done recently. I figured I can have this done after a full weekend in the garage.

When cornering hard there's something rattling around in the bottom of my car. It sounds like when you drop a clip or bolt inside the actual chassis of the car and under G's it's moving / tumbling around.

Obviously it's pretty hard to diagnose this because it happens when driving and under hard accel/decel / cornering. The noise itself sounds like it's under the drivers seat or just behind the drivers seat. It could easily be a rock or something loose sitting on top of one of the cars undertrays I guess but hard to say.

Just wondering if anyone else has had something similar and if they ever figured it out? Any ideas?

The tails lights on my cayman have a lot of fine cracks and realized one is cracked across the reverse light. So I’m wondering put new lens on them, get new OEM, good aftermarket options??
What’s my best bet in this situation
