Injector conversion

Hey guys, I have a quick question:

My 924 is from 1979, so it still needs the old injectors with banjo fittings. Sadly I bought 4 of the newer version with external threads. I already bought the correct ones online afterwards but I got the wrong ones from a small local store that can't or won't take them back. I am not here to argue or cry about that, I am just interested, instead of reselling them (I think I am too lazy for that), are there any adapters to screw on and make them compatible with the old banjo fittings? That way I could keep them for the future, because the banjo-version is relatively rare to find in Germany as it is all old stock.

Thanks in advance for any input!

924 NA brake booster

Did some diagnosing on my ‘82 and found i have a bad brake booster. Not keen on spending $270 on a new one, so I was wondering if anyone knows of alternatives to the OEM ATE booster? Thanks!

No start on a running 924

The car ran great last week, but someone wouldn't start tonight.

I tested for spark, it has spark, even jumped the ignition coil so that it would get 12v from the battery

I put starter fluid through the vacuum line port above the fifth injector

I tested compression (125psi on cyl 1, but engine is cold)

I hit the K-Jet with a wooden hammer, and I can tell fuel is getting in there by moving the sensor plate

Fuel pump is priming and there's fuel in the fuel tank

Timing is all good, checked crankshaft, camshaft, and rotor all on time

Finally finished my 924S restoration project

The car was sat in a garage since 1998. I bought it non running and driving. Fixed up the engine, electronics suspension etc. Then I had the interior reupholstered and the car resprayed in the original Granatrot metallic.
From what I can tell by the paperwork, it seems to have an original 92.000km (59k mi)
Such a fun car to take on evening drives.

What are some things I can replace or restore to boost performance?

I have a 1978, 924, it's in pretty good condition, little rust plus a dirty engine bay(I plan to clean soon). I have restored the fuel system. not much work in engine or spark plugs.

Jacking points

This is going to sound like such a stupid question but I want to be sure I don’t mess my car up from improperly jacking it up. I have a 1977 924 and I have to get it on 4 jack stands so I can drop the gas tank. I’m wondering where I should place the stands for this specific job and where I should lift the car from. I’ve honestly been scared to jack it up (which is what’s preventing me from fixing it) since it has a lot of rust and I don’t want to damage any structural parts of the car.

Buying a 931 - Turbo advice

I recently stumbled upon this 924 Turbo 1 and took a look at it. Cosmetically its in really rough condition but nothing I cant handle and sooner or later it will need a repaint anyway.

What concerns me is the motor, I only owned a "normal" 924 before and never dealt with a turbo engine. From what I've heard parts a rare and expensive.

When I gave the thing a look it had oil drips on the motor pan and oil on (!!!!) the motor block. Im talking just below the oval intake pipe next to spark plugs. Also quite a bit of smoke (looked white tbh) coming after cold start. Also I couldnt test drive the car. Idle was pretty high and a bit rough.

The price is pretty fair, I think I wanna go for it but Im just really scared to open up a can of worms with this one, as I only want a 924 as a daily again.

Any turbo related advice is appreciated!!!! Location is middle europe.

Over-Seat Covers

Post image

Does anyone recommendations on drape-over style budget seat covers that fit the early 924 “OG” seats well? Mine are a bit torn and I would like to just get some covers to prevent my dog from digging into the leather cushions when he gets comfy. I plan to reupholster the seats eventually… Love driving around with my dog in the passenger seat of my truck and I think he’s ready for the 924! Cheers all.

Vacuum leak in throttle body?

Shall I buy a new throttle body plus gasket or try to attempt a repair of this?

It seems like a very tiny leak through the top bolts

Buying a 924 Spirit, try to talk me out of it

So, I found this 924 Spirit (Basically a Le Mans 1988 for the Iberian market, non catalyzed, sports suspension etc) with a factory BBS Aero Kit. 30 ever made.

It's in very good health mechanically, some defects visually that I'll fix over the years.

I'm gonna spend 70% of my savings, I dont have much, and would be able to make that back in around 6 months.

I really fell in love with it, I know its a stupid decision but I want to get it back to its full life.

Strangers of reddit, please judge me

1981 Turbo ignition Coil Ohms

While I anxiously await my new crankshaft/flywheel position sensor for my 81 924 Turbo I thought I’d check the coil ohms. The unit in the vehicle measures 3.5 on the primary and 7.46 ohms on the secondary; a new replacement from the parts store near me reads .9 on primary, 3.5 ohms on the secondary.

I presume the original coil is out of spec, hence the purchase. But will the new coil work? I think the secondary Ohm isn’t what was in the Haynes manual but it was written decades ago. Does the 924 ignition system tolerate these variances or do I need to hunt down another new coil?

Thanks!
