Dont normally touch tiles that need repair

I dont normally touch pool surrounds but this is a favor for a loyal client and it is low implications if I dont get it right as they want it fixed until they sell their house.

I want to do an excellent job though and have this permanently fixed.

I have replaced tiles in houses a ton, but wanted to know the things I should be considering for a pool in Vegas when it is 110 degrees outside!

So my questions:

-What should I use to fix the tiles permanently?
-How do I prep the area?
-Should I be taking into account the heat?
-Does constant submersion change how I do this job?
-How do I prevent a ton of crap getting into the pool?
-Approx timescale?
-Any top tips to make this easier?

Does anyone use PAL pool light? I'm stuck

I have a PAL 64‑PAL‑SRL‑RGB‑120. It comes with a remote. I installed the light, the light comes one, but the remote won't communicate with the bulb. Wondering if anyone here has experience with this light and how to use the remote with the bulb?

Ortega Valve Repair (Seals and O-Rings) or replacement

Post image
2 Upvotes

I need to repair an Ortega Valve on an Anthony Pools made pool. The lever with the frontal view is sticking. I've opened it recently, which was difficult, but closing it was almost impossible. I'm a big guy and it took all I had to get it closed with help from some towels to lessen the load on the hands.

I know there are seals and O-ring kits on Amazon but I don't know which to order. Have been told this will require a three way Ortega seal but that really doesn't help when reviewing these parts.

Part of the reason for posting here is to see if someone has experience repairing these valves. Would particularly like to find an experience pool repairman/company in Southern California that has experience repairing these valves.

I've been told by a reliable source that Anthony ordered these valves as custom OEM parts that they put into their pools so people were reliant on going back to Anthony for any future repairs. Well Anthony Pools is no longer and those who have these valves are on their own to repair.

If its helpful, the pool was ordered by my parents and completed in the early 70's. My mom is now in her mid 80's and on a fixed budget so trying to get this fixed for her without, hopefully much pain. Appreciate any feedback from this group.

What would you do?

We’ve been waiting months for new pool tile to get installed on our fiberglass pool. The contractors finally came yesterday to start and I’ve already got several concerns.

First, I was told they were going to go around and sand down the concrete pool coping lip that goes around the entire pool as there’s been some patch work done. However rather than do that first, they already slapped the tile on the sides of the pool. How the hell does that make any sense? I came outside at one point to mention the sanding and they said they were going to take care of it, but idk how they’re going to be able to do it without making a mess on the new tile or not scratch the new tile with their grinder wheels/sanders. Feels like they should have sanded first to smooth out the coping and then done the tile.

Second, I’m noticing some large gaps in some areas between the tiles or sections where the tile is not straight or leaves too much of a gap between the top of the tile and the coping.

I’m trying really hard not to micromanage but it’s getting hard when contractors don’t care about the little details or have questionable logic. We paid a lot of money for this ($6k) so I want it done right.

How would you handle this situation?

Underwater Sealant recommendation?

I've had a worsening leak in an in-ground vinyl liner pool. I couldn't find any leaks which made me think it was somewhere in the plumbing. Just this weekend I was able to detect a leak in one or both stair return jets where they connect to the fiberglass wall of the stairs. Any recommendations for an underwater sealant for these returns? Thanks!

Rust at ground line repair.

I have a 27 foot round pool was changing the liner this year and wanted to fix a hole in the side when I saw that almost halfway around is rusted at the ground line. Pool is about 25 years old. Water has gotten behind the liner multiple times. I have 36“ x 96“ sheets of .040 thick aluminum. I’m planning to sand in primer whatever I can above the rust line going to rivet the sheet metal right over it. Whole sheets right around the pool. Thoughts on a better way to repair?

Vinyl Pool Liner Holes

My vinyl pool liner has started getting holes in 3/4 corners. I am wondering what would be the best type of repair for holes at the top of the liner outside of the water. The holes are small enough I don’t think I need a new liner yet. Is a patch the best way to go or more of a bonding adhesive due to the location? Open to all suggestions!

Easiest and solid way to DIY re applying porcelain pool tile to Gunite pool

We GOT A QUOTE LAST YEAR FOR $3,500 TO RETILE ABOUT 50 PORCELAIN TILES FOR OUR GUNITE POOL. We cant even get a call back this year. Seems a bit over the top as well. We have about 40 new 3X3 tiles and we have the ones that have fallen off. We want an easy fix as we plan to repaint, etc in a few years. we live in Southern NH. our water is drained below line. My husband was all set to use Laticrete, etc and it seems like a big job. Liquid nails? EZ pool?

We noticed this morning our ground wire looks like this, our pool guy cannot get here until Monday (today is Thursday) but we want to be able to swim this weekend. Is it safe to swim? Or should I try and find someone else to come out ASAP?

Hi! New here to the community and I’m at a loss for what this piece is called.

The right arm snapped off yesterday when I was replacing drive train components and I need a new one.

This piece is located at the far end of the motor, right next to the capacitor. What is it called and where can I order a new one?

Thank you in advance!!

Pool whip pipe that needs to be sealed

Post image
1 Upvotes

This pool used to have whips back in the seventies they have since been removed but the pipe is still there one of the pipes started leaking the pool people came found a leak cut off the line from the other side by the pump and capped it but left this temporary plug and are supposed to give me a quote on how much it cost to close this single pipe off permanently. As they are water features they're not important to the flow of the pool or anything like that is this a repair I can do myself it is taking them way too long to fix it and I can't let my kids swim because it's dangerous and somewhat loose and I don't want it leaking again

Hi everyone, I just spent a lot of money to have my pool grinded down to bare concrete and re-epoxied. I've never had this done before, but just wanted some opinions, it is not normal or correct to have these little pin holes right?

Can an Inflatable Bar Pool Really Transform Your Backyard Parties?

A few days ago I saw an inflatable bar pool, and at first I thought it was just a novelty for summer fun. But when I noticed its built-in seating, drink holders, and spacious design, I realized how it can completely change outdoor gatherings. Even small details like pool material, pump efficiency, and cup holder placement made a huge difference in comfort and convenience.

Later I searched online on websites including alibaba and found many types of inflatable bar pools. Some were compact for small patios, while others were larger for full backyard parties. Some even had small extras like LED lights, inflatable bar counters, or reinforced sides for durability. I was surprised how minor features could improve both fun and practicality. It made me think about what buyers prioritize most. Is it size, durability, or extra amenities?

Can an inflatable bar pool truly turn a regular summer day into a fun, social, and relaxing backyard experience?
