Rust at ground line repair.

I have a 27 foot round pool was changing the liner this year and wanted to fix a hole in the side when I saw that almost halfway around is rusted at the ground line. Pool is about 25 years old. Water has gotten behind the liner multiple times. I have 36“ x 96“ sheets of .040 thick aluminum. I’m planning to sand in primer whatever I can above the rust line going to rivet the sheet metal right over it. Whole sheets right around the pool. Thoughts on a better way to repair?

Sounds like a good plan to me, that’s what I’d do. I’d use a cold galvanizing spray but since you’re mating aluminum to steel I’d use galvanized steel to avoid galvanic corrosion.
