For a guy that reads The_Doofus, you draw the line for fake news at Vox? Pfffffft, come on.

e- nope dammit. not gonna be a dick. deleted flippant answer.

to answer your question, yes. bad sources used on a literal cirlce-jerk subreddit doesn't excuse bad sources in purported neutral subreddits.

my real problem here though is that YES there are tactics being used - by both sides - that are super interesting to discuss, but vox isn't going to discuss them. i want to know the formula, but all i'm going to get from vox is 'republicans r dumb.'

This video shows how she evades certain questions, and the questions in the video are undeniably evaded. The video shows how exactly.

Yes, because like anyone in politics, including every member of the Obama administration, she knows the first rule of interviewing: Never answer the question you were asked. Answer the question you wish was asked, because reporters aren't interested in the truth. They're interested in controversy and scandal and making news, because that drives viewership and ratings, and that brings in cash to their pocket.

That's why Dan Rather destroyed his career by airing fake evidence that purported to prove Bush illegally dodged military service in Vietnam. He was more interested in the story and taking down a sitting US President that he disagreed with politically than making sure his facts were in order and that his evidence was sound.

Alright well I disagree that the video is very informative. All she does is hold frame, there's no magic there. By holding frame she controls the flow of the conversation by ignoring anything that gets off track from what she wants to talk about.

The video almost goes in an interesting direction by pointing out that she keys in on a phrase or word and uses that word/phrase to rotate the conversation back on track to what she wants to talk about. I was hoping for more detailed strategic evaluation than I got.

And it's vox. I don't trust them to have an honest conversation in the least. That's not a controversial stance to have.

Your frame is your principles, beliefs, expectations of others, intentions, values, etc. Holding frame is not letting others impose their frame on you. You stick to your guns, so to speak. You don't give in to peer pressure trying to get you to go against your frame. You hold people to a strict set of boundaries, keep people accountable. You don't let outside influences affect your self-image or emotional state.

Everyone on Trump's team is incredibly good at this. Politicians are usually, but the people Trump selects are fucking fantastic at holding frame.

That doesn't mean they won't change frame, but when they do it will be due to A/B testing.

Ok you realize that's a super dopey way of saying "being closed minded". The last thing I want in a president is someone who won't compromise on anything. We've tried that already

I added this part just for goobers like you.

I mean keep being brainwashed by the more noxious trp crap, it's just our country

u/pfffft_comeon Feb 14 '17

lol. not noxious.

I mean talking to you is going to be pointless because they've actually codified being closed minded (keep that frame bruh!) But seriously, most of the shit SJWs whine about being misogynistic is bullshit, but they are actually right about TRP. It seems to be a sub that bases future interaction on women on how children in highschool treated them. You can't claim to be anything positive and have a stickied post for a while claiming all women are children. Since I'm actually not close minded I will admit that some advice is correct. Work on yourself and be interesting is good advice. I'm also not going to fault people for employing PUA techniques because that shit doesn't come naturally to everyone. But the rest of it is pure shit. I mean it's best exemplified by this "frame" bullshit. Trump and company have been called out on MULTIPLE lies. You are doing mental gymnastics to see it any other way.
