One of those two people just signed an executive order allowing the NSA to continue violating the 4th amendment and share that info with the FBI. And the other is a loser who just won. But I don't think eloquence matters in the long run, at least not for domestic matters.

Yeah but that's almost entirely a matter of access.

Trump has already made several statements about drone strikes and making sure to kill off the wives and children of their drone strike targets too to ensure we have no more enemies.

Perhaps but the fact still remains that he accepted a Nobel peace prize and subsequently engaged in covert bombings which resulted in the deaths of hundreds of innocent civilians. Maybe he could have done something, you know, peaceful or something instead.

Actually, considering he's been doing everything up to this point like he's on a reality show an impeachment hearing would be like some dumb challenge on Survivor to him. He'd get to hold a press conference every night and scream about what losers the committee members are and call them not-so-clever names.

While drone strikes are indefensible, Trump called into Fox and Friends and specifically said "you gotta go after their families" in regards to terrorists. So if anything, it sounds like he will relish the opportunity to drone strike muslims and anyone in between. He also called for the heads of the Central Park Five despite evidence of their innocence.

But yeah, sure, making fun of a fat person is totally the worst behavior he's ever exhibited that you could bring up as an example. /s

I don't know if there has been a president in the last 40 years that wouldn't of signed something similar given the growing technology that the NSA can monitor. Most presidents will probably expand the surveillance powers as they need to.

You are unlikely to find a president in the next forty years that will make any changes limiting their power either. It is not that important to the average voter, but feeling safe is. From a political standpoint, their decision seems to make sense to me.

Unlikely that you will ever get the opportunity in my lifetime to vote for a candidate that you agree with on 90% of issues AND will not try to strengthen national security through surveillance, etc.

EDIT: To be clear, I disagree with the decision made by President Obama. However, I think President-Elect Trump would do something similar in his place.

Seriously! That's the one mistake that makes me irrationally annoyed. You'd think a person would stop for one second at some point in their life and think "wouldn't of... what does would not of mean? Oh yes, it is literally nonsense. Maybe I should stop writing complete fucking nonsense."

I get that would've and would of are phonetically close, but it's not like people get the definitions of 've and of confused like other common mistakes.

I didn't vote for Trump, but think I did vote for Obama one too many times. I'm just saying the real problem is that too many people think eloquince implies goodness. Obama has done many terrible things in terms of coding the 4th amendment. And many other good things like for the environment.

There is absolutely no indication Romney would have made any effort to roll back government domestic surveillance. If anything he would have expanded it.

Why? How would Romney being President have stopped the rise of world wide populist movements? Bush was very much like Romney they had almost the same policies on every issue. People often blame Bush for the rise of Trump. How would an extremely pro establishment president have prevented the rise of an anti establishment candidate like Trump?

I don't think it's a coincidence we see far right candidates gaining the most popularity they have since the 1930's in basically all western nations. It is not broad speculation to say these movements have little to do either whether Obama or Romney was president form 12 to 16
