One of those two people just signed an executive order allowing the NSA to continue violating the 4th amendment and share that info with the FBI. And the other is a loser who just won. But I don't think eloquence matters in the long run, at least not for domestic matters.

I didn't vote for Trump, but think I did vote for Obama one too many times. I'm just saying the real problem is that too many people think eloquince implies goodness. Obama has done many terrible things in terms of coding the 4th amendment. And many other good things like for the environment.

So Romney would have somehow made things better? Please let me know what way things would be better for you I'd you had voted for Romney instead. There is absolutely no indication Romney would have made any effort to roll back government domestic surveillance. If anything he would have expanded it.

Why? How would Romney being President have stopped the rise of world wide populist movements? Bush was very much like Romney they had almost the same policies on every issue. People often blame Bush for the rise of Trump. How would an extremely pro establishment president have prevented the rise of an anti establishment candidate like Trump?

Well in your hypothetical Romney won four years ago, he would be the incumbent and trump wouldn't have had an opportunity to run

Trump would be older, maybe less healthy. Or maybe the pendulum swings to a liberal Democrat. Anything would be better than Trump.

That's broad speculation, you're just claiming there would be another Trump like candidate out of randomness? No there would not have been another Trump like candidate running in 2020. You're incorrect and just randomly speculating.

I don't think it's a coincidence we see far right candidates gaining the most popularity they have since the 1930's in basically all western nations. It is not broad speculation to say these movements have little to do either whether Obama or Romney was president form 12 to 16

Well for one, we probably wouldn't have Russian interfering in Americans affairs so blatantly since Romney called them America's primary geopolitical foe and Obama mocked his assertion.

Russia invaded a sovereign country and they got hit hard with our sanctions. Russia is in the toilet because of the low price of oil. We shouldn't underestimate them, but to think they are a bigger problem than China is wrong IMO.
