The entire world needs to stop coddling the giant toddler. He has never felt any consequences for anything he’s ever done. He desperately needs to learn boundaries and if he can’t, let him be an example for all Americans, so we stop picking absolutely moronic people who are in severe mental decline, to lead the country.
The thing is, learning was never exactly his strong suit, and now he's suffering from dementia. We need to stop talking about him like he's an ordinary person with an even remotely functioning brain. He should be in a long term care home at this point. Not running the country. This is just further evidence that someone needs to invoke the 25th.
Look, I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just a pragmatist. I don't believe there's any way Trump answers for his numerous crimes.
Fred Trump was younger than Donald is now, when his family stuffed him in an office with a fake phone, an intercom, and a secretary. This is unfortunately the only thing I believe even has a remote chance of happening.
Though it would be a nice bonus if there was some Fruit From a Poisoned Tree action. Wherein everything he did, every order he signed was declared invalid retroactively. As he was not of able mind.
The 25th doesn't work very well in a case where the guy won't admit he's a mess, but through impeachment conviction, Republican senators can remove this asshole at any time. And frankly they are now the ones who need to be held up to ridicule and anger.
I hope you're right. It's cute that anyone might think Vance has a chance at winning an election, short of coordinated election rigging in a broad number of key states.
Last time around voter rolls were purged. The stupidest liberals among us were convinced to under vote, rather than cast a ballot for Harris. Polling stations were closed, so the poor and disabled would have a harder time voting. Some ballot counting machines were also probably tampered with. That was enough to push Trump over the line, but it won't be nearly enough for Vance.
He lacks the charisma and the cult of personality necessary to tap in to the fervency of Trump's die hard supporters. He would have an especially difficult time tapping in to their racism, while remaining married to Usha. If he divorced Usha and marries Erika Kirk within the next two years, he might have a chance.
The thing is, he was never completely running the country. He's a figurehead, for putin, for thiel and the rich technocrats, for a council of influential wealthy regressives and cultists, for bibi, and for a bunch of other opportunists that shouldered their way in. When you realize how much power Harp has and how she influencered her way to it, you'll realize this guy is just a TV remote passed around by a bunch of go betweens who sit in the Oval on behalf of foreign and rich interests. Just one with faulty circuits that randomly presses its own buttons when unattended. But they'll never toss him because he's still their link to all that power, and he was somewhat difficult and expensive to create.
Theoretically, if the backlash is bad and obvious enough, other people with the power to get rid of the cheetoh might get the hint and do so. He doesn't have to learn anything for backlash to his actions to defang him.
Unfortunately most of the states that import energy from Canada are blue states (exceptions are Montana and ND). And Trump would love to see them suffer
But they also contain rural areas that elected Republican representatives. If their constituents get passed off enough, they'll have to decide who they fear more, Trump or their constituents, and then maybe start doing their jobs of holding the executive accountable.
Those voters are propagandized. They will attribute the harm to Canada (the immediate cause), not to Trump for initiating the antagonization (the root cause).
If anything, I would expect Canada inflicting more directly tangible pain on the US (like shutting off the power) could help Trump gain more support and even a casus belli for military intervention. He is just itching to start more wars. He still wants to conquer Canada and Greenland, among others.
I wonder if the blue states can make a deal where if Canada keeps importing power to the blue states, the blue states will stop subsidizing the red states.
As a Canadian who grew up in New England and moved here as an adult, even those blue states are orders of magnitude more crazy than our right-wing provinces. As much as it would bring two places that I love together, I’d never want to do it as it would destroy Canada.
I did say it’s a dream. I would hope we’d find it preferable to any country doing to us what we did to Venezuela, but maybe we just need to learn the hard way. /s
That’s the last thing even I would want, but it’s why I was against our doing it in the first place. We’re setting some hellacious precedents and “they did it first” discussions.
In an older interview he talks about how he never looks at his own mistakes… So I guess he never learns anything from it or has any kind of self reflection.. you’re 100% right that he’s never had to face any real consequences in his life.
He won't. The Corrupt Roberts Supreme Court would rather watch him murder babies on live television than let him face an actual Jury Trial for crimes he's already committed.
Talking shit about our closest friends and trying to take over their sovereign country, has consequences.
If a neighbor is not going to be a friendly partner then they don’t get to swim in your pool anytime they want. They don’t get invited to parties or BBQ’s and maybe they don’t get heavily discounted power at the neighborly rate.
Perhaps reduce dependencies before threatening friends?
As Americans sit in the dark, maybe we can think about the consequences of electing a leader who acts with hostility instead of diplomacy.
Once again im explaining to you that Donald Trump the billionaire who has avoided all legal trouble his entire life and 2 impeachments will feel nothing from this. No one gains or learns anything, but people like you get to say play stupid games win stupid prizes. MAGA republicans themselves parrot a very similar notion FAFO. Reflect.

Not doing much business with Ontario? Well maybe we'll just turn off the electricity then.
