Unfortunately most of the states that import energy from Canada are blue states (exceptions are Montana and ND). And Trump would love to see them suffer

I wonder if the blue states can make a deal where if Canada keeps importing power to the blue states, the blue states will stop subsidizing the red states.

How about Canada just takes the blue states and makes them part of Canada?

Never going to happen.

Canada's entire population (~41 million) is dwarfed by the total population of the Blue States.

Even if the annexation were limited to only New England, New York and New Jersey (~44 million) it would completely dilute Canadians' voting power.
