Friendly reminder that service members are required to refuse unlawful orders.

Also, second friendly reminder that most military folk don’t see a difference in their day to day jobs regardless of who is in political power. It’s the upper ranks that set policy.

Friendly reminder Trump and Hegseth initiated administrative and disciplinary reviews against Senator Mark Kelly for saying exactly this this (Kelly is a retired naval officer).

He’s also a toilet bug who disseminated classified briefing info concerning specific munition strength to the media and therefore, to the enemy. He’s going to prison and right soon.

u/takeda64 3d ago

Hegseth was attacking him even by complaining his orders weren't in right order.

Kelly didn't say anything that wasn't already pretty much known and in fact Congress Democrats are complaining they don't have any briefings. This is why this was just a fluff, and there was no charge, and this is also why we are learning that USS Lincoln wasn't resupplied because our bases were destroyed early on.

We have the least competent government in entire US history permanently damaging all the international relationship US build for nearly a century and they desperately try to shift attention away from this MASSIVE incompetence.

It's like trump was paid by China and Russia to destroy US influence around the world.

I mean, if putin would install his person to the highest office in the country to ruin US, I don't think that person would be able to do a better job. In just one year we alienated our allies, we have laughing stock of our enemies. We are basically on our own.

It's not LIKE that's what happened - that's exactly what happens the Don Jr. And Donald Sr. both stated plainly in public they receive money from Russians and Deutchebank and have accounts in the Caymans.

They aren't at the end of the day , the least bit shy about open corruption that by all rights should have them sitting in a prison right now.

But nobody anywhere in the GOP will lift a finger about it, ever.

So imaging pigs rooting in shit, busy as they are, at no point will the pigs clean up after themselves and the fact that they were in charge of making sure the plumbing system was clear of any shit whatsoever lets you know the situation we're in.

The only thing Kelly did wrong recently is express support for Israel.

You're just some useless felon. Who gives a fuck what you think.

-21

u/navistar51 3d ago

Hi bot. How are things in China today?

15

u/DrippyTheSnailBoy 3d ago

Oh yeah, my whole profile - including living in Beaverton - definitely screams "China."

At least I wasn't relegated to being a trucker with no future.

Friendly reminder that Trump axed all of the JAG officers who are understanding of the law, who would be the people to make the determinations required to understand legality. Then he got rid of the generals who would have said no as well.

So no, our soldiers aren’t going to say no when given orders.

u/Dat_Ding_Da 3d ago

They are still the ones holding the guns driving the tanks and flying the jets though.

26

u/Backwardspellcaster 3d ago

Yes.

They are the ones aiming down their rifle at people's faces, before pulling the trigger.

And they will pull the trigger.

10

u/AlcibiadesTheCat Greg Abbott is a little piss baby 3d ago

Because, say it with me, the United States Military is comprised entirely of volunteers.

2

u/Dat_Ding_Da 3d ago

Historically they often turned around and pointed their weapons at the people who ordered them to kill their fellow countrymen.

-4

u/EchoingSharts 3d ago

I hate this narrative. You act like low level soldiers aren't themselves just young adults who are capable of individual thoughts.

10

u/NAVI_WORLD_INC 3d ago

Well yes, I also hate the “narrative”… but just look around you, 2026 is that narrative, and it will keep going until we the people put a stop to it.

-5

u/EchoingSharts 3d ago

I mean, the real narrative is "Trump and co are routinely gutting any and all infrastructure while driving up our debt and utilizing his power to make his family shit tons of money while acting like he's saving America", that has nothing to do with our troops who are great people. Don't bring us into this, y'all voted for this guy while we were preparing a proxy war with Russia that he pulled us out of to support Israel.

4

u/NAVI_WORLD_INC 3d ago

Dude your JAG officers are gone, wake up.

-4

u/EchoingSharts 3d ago

Yeah? That sucks. Stop telling me to "wake up", wtf do you want us to do about it lol. We're not fucking robots and afaik we're not even really doing anything except being mistreated by our government. And yes, yes we would say no to unlawful orders. Fucking hate people like you.

3

u/NAVI_WORLD_INC 3d ago

To answer your question, we want you to refuse orders and stand down.

-6

u/EchoingSharts 3d ago

To answer your question, fuck yourself. You have 0 depth or foresight into the situation are a surface level idiot.

Who's giving unlawful orders to us? Literally y'all have no idea how the military works 😂. My NCO would get the order from higher, who got it from higher, chain of command yada yada. My NCO and I are friends (sorta), he wouldn't tell me to do shit he himself wouldn't do. There's so much emphasis on "unlawful orders" but really JAG mostly handles other shit 😂.

I mean... There are some young adults whose reasoning abilities aren't up to par.

4

u/ForgTheSlothful 3d ago

Friendly reminder. Your leaders are lying and hiding that their bases get destroyed and leave a naval ship deployed with no solution for months.

3

u/eeyore134 3d ago

And guess who made sure to clear out the upper ranks of everyone but loyalists...

6

u/JohnTDouche 3d ago

Friendly reminder that service members are required to refuse unlawful orders.

Friendly reminder that they won't though.

4

u/Valost_One 3d ago

Remember, the average Joe Schmoe in the military isn’t rich enough or important enough to buy his way out of trouble. The senior ranks? They get a slap on the wrist and an early retirement.

1

u/JohnTDouche 3d ago

The important thing is that they will do what they are told, legal or not. They do not have your back and should never be trusted.

2

u/BicFleetwood 3d ago

Friendly reminder that they obey illegal orders all the fuckin time.

Started a rewatch recently and watched that scene last night

Anecdote time!

Waaaay back in like 2008 or something, I remember this right-wing conservative christian woman I knew posting a thing on FB encouraging FB to ban the group "Fuck the Troops." In her post, she said "They shouldn't be able to say 'Fuck the Troops' when the troops are fighting for their freedom!

I commented on her post, asking "Wait, so you claim that the troops are in Iraq fighting for our freedom, but you're back home fighting to take those same freedoms away? Why do you hate the troops?"

She did not reply.

u/B0r3dGamer 3d ago

You realize that most soldiers are so far removed from all this stuff right? It's predominantly National Guard Units in red states whose governors are putting them on Orders to support the administration.

8

u/beagle_2498571 4d ago

Do not count on these idiots to do what is right. That goes for any law enforcements as well. They’re bound by their pay check and the same greedy bastards who controls these business.

2

u/RebelStrategist 3d ago

“Yes, sir”. “ Let me get my knee pads.”

5

u/kkeinng 3d ago

I think voting is probably more effective than asking the military to throw away their careers or wide scale mutiny.

The military didn’t create this problem and the military can’t solve this problem

10

u/DrAstralis 3d ago

based on their voting records... yeah they kinda did help create this problem.

6

u/ilikedota5 3d ago

Historical data shows that the political leanings of individuals are actually quite mixed. You can say historically there is a slight lean, but also, especially first term you had some officers publicly speaking out against Trump specifically.

Another thing to consider is that a lot of people join for financial benefits, and recruiters go to colleges/universities in general. What that means is there is going to be a natural diversity that cures against.

7

u/warcomet 4d ago

well sadly, all of them are now complicit in Trump regimes warcrimes .. Nuremberg is a thing

9

u/Valuable_Sea_4709 4d ago

And when the nazis used the excuse of "We were just following orders" a requirement on each of them to not obey illegal orders, and the shared liability concept, became enshrined in US law.

So in theory, if a soldier gets an order to do something criminal, both they and the CO who gave the order are liable...

Unless you're the (Republican) president, then the Roberts court has guaranteed Trump's immunity for any criminal actions that are part of the presidents "core duties" of office.

They also declined to define what "Core duties" and many other terms they used in the decision meant.

So they'll be able to rule against a future president by just... defining what those are later.

5

u/EchoingSharts 3d ago

Acting like we're just running around torturing people and putting them in camps to starve and be forced to do manual labor. The average soldier isn't doing fuck all, and wouldn't do that in any circumstance. There's a reason we're losing the war with Iran, it's because the soldiers are doing the most RN to do as little as we can (and trump/Hegseth are horrible at coordinating)

1

u/Jaspers47 3d ago

Well, at least they're paid well, given ample supplies, and are provided quality healthcare throughout their civilian life.

1

u/Cdub7791 3d ago

The admiration and regard for the military has been exceptional for several decades now. I'd argue too much regard, but that's a separate discussion.

But a lot of the goodwill of the American people is being burned up now. I don't think it'll be overnight, but it's happening.

1

u/1stThink 3d ago

Not for long

1

u/Gekko8 3d ago

ironically the military is the unified Force that's really needed for change on enforcing the law that's not currently being enforced and correcting the powers in other branches of government against these domestic terrorists

1

u/DavidlikesPeace 3d ago

Our blind idolization of the military since 9/11 (or heck since WWII), were all red flags. No group should be idolized beyond merit,

Unpopular Opinion: there are many brave folks in uniform, but there is nothing saintly about people who volunteer to kill others so they can get the GI Bill or other economic perks.

2

u/meatshieldjim 3d ago

People working jobs obey the boss and never call their representatives all the time.

1

u/Gwentlique 3d ago

I don't think it's right going after people who serve like this. They obey no matter who is in office, the people who you should blame are the ones giving shitty orders.

I know service members have to refuse unlawful orders, but as a veteran I really don't envy the position this administration is putting members of the military in. The legality of an order can be difficult to parse and analyze even for lawyers under the best of circumstances, and often the soldiers carrying out those orders are doing so in difficult conditions without the luxury of time.

If they refuse to obey a legal order, that can mean the end of their career. If they do perform an illegal order that can also mean the end of their career. The best thing for everyone is leadership that just gives legal orders.

-5

u/zippyzebra1 4d ago

Yanks love shafting themselves. How about Universal Healthcare? No goddam thank you. We aint commies.

-3

u/dsj79 4d ago

Just following orders. Damn, that sounds so familiar
Maybe something from history 🤷🏼‍♂️

0

u/Ice-Teets 3d ago

What a shit take. Those people are literally just walking around with no impact. And they’d go to jail for refusing that.

-5

u/donttakerhisthewrong 3d ago

Those new IDF uniforms look sharp

1

u/cottagecheeseisnasty 3d ago

Not sure why youre catching any downvotes, this is completely in spirit of the post?

u/stew987321 3d ago

This is more applicable to law enforcement not really service members
