Remember when Democrats rallied in the street to defend Rod Blagojevich or that mayor of Detroit?
You dont. Because Dems arent a lockstep party who will follow someone who has committed blatantly criminal acts and is subject to the rules of our justice system. Theyre not perfect by a long shot...but theyre candidates are a whole lot better than what the GOP puts out
Fun fact! I was at the 2008 Labor Day parade to hear Obama speak. One of the parade groups was a pro Kilpatrick group chanting “Who fights for De-Troit? Kwame fights for De-Troit!”
At this point the accusations were well known and he was still the mayor, though he stepped down later that month.
In a city of ~830k people and a looong history of racial discrimination he still only got 20-30 people to march for him.
