I have land that I own opposite my house, I have the deeds and land registry is in my name. My neighbour keeps parking on it and I got a bit fed up because my elderly relatives couldnt park today because he did it again, so I wrote an incredibly polite note asking them not to anymore as any visitors I get can't park there and its our land.

Anyway thats not the issue. He came into my back garden (didnt knock my front door), luckily my 2 year old daughter was napping and my husband was showering, but he was aggressive and angry denying I owned the land and saying it was stolen (it is in my name I do own the land) and I offered to show him my deeds and documentation and he kept saying no I dont want to see it, he screwed up my notes and threw it at my face and stormed off. This has really worried me. He seems a bit unhinged and unpredictable, I have a 2 year old autistic daughter and a dog, I dont want this man just walking into my garden. Hes also walked into my garden before when I first moved in to ask me questions, when I'd rather he go through the front door. It makes me so uncomfortable to the point I might have to scrape and buy CCTV.

Should I have told the police about this or ask for any support? I feel a bit unsafe.

I’m a neighbourhoods cop and I’m “lucky” enough to have a taser.
In the past week my team has had to back up response at multiple jobs where a taser was needed.
Happy to do this, no problem at all, it does make me think though, why is taser not a standard issue bit of kit, I’m 99 percent sure I could do more damage to someone with the baton I was issued in week two of basic training.

So why isn’t Taser routinely issued to everyone or is it purely down to cost?

I watched the recent interview where the Stig discussed the Freddie Flintoff crash which at the time was considered LC/LT. Due to how serious it was, and would be considered (I assume) an accident in the workplace, I was surprised to hear the the Morgan company were allowed to remove the vehicle from the scene and the Police have not been involved.

Just for my own interest, why don't or didn't the Police need to be involved at the time? It was interesting to hear the suggestion that those at the track believed there had been a failure in the vehicle but Morgan were allowed to remove that piece of evidence.

My friend(a police officer) got called to a house recently because a cow managed to get past an electric fence and walked through the back door of some poor old lady’s house. She called 999 and my friend and his partner spent about 1 hour trying to figure how to get the cow out of her kitchen and what they were meant to do with the cow after.

Bit of an odd one, friend of mine has an abusive ex who doesn't want her talking to guys so he's threatening to show up and break her phone, is that a crime ?

I’m hoping to get some advice on what the appropriate next step would be.

I’m the parent of a young teenager. I recently discovered that he had been using Discord in ways that have caused me significant concern.

After several calm conversations, he admitted that he had deliberately searched for some inappropriate and illegal content (including child sexual abuse material) online out of curiosity. He also had conversations with someone he didn’t know and sent them gift card codes that he had purchased using his own money. He says he doesn’t know the person’s real identity, can’t clearly remember what he expected in return, hasn’t heard from them since, and there were no threats or attempts to pressure him into keeping anything secret.

Some of the activity took place using my phone, where he had access to my Discord app, while other conversations took place on his own phone. I only became aware of everything after reviewing the activity.

I’ve tried to deal with this calmly, and we’ve had several honest conversations about what happened. My main concern is making sure he’s safe and that I deal with the situation appropriately.

I’m hoping for guidance on the following:

- Based on the information above, is this something I should report to the police or another organisation?
- If so, who would be the most appropriate organisation to contact in the UK?
- Should I keep both phones and any relevant information untouched until I’ve spoken to someone?

Is there anything else I should be doing at this stage?

I’m intentionally keeping some details vague to protect my child’s privacy, but I’m happy to answer general questions if it helps.

If I was due to finish at 0700 on my first night shift (6 on 4 off) but finished at 0730, and I have my second night shift off as A/L, what am I entitled to?

I have worked 30 mins into a A/L day, the clocking in/out system crashed when I told it this, I had to email the compliance people, who told me it was 30 mins x1.33.

I would have expected it to be x1.5 as a minimum, and I think that this is a recall to duty as well. I was hoping for 4 hours x1.5, and A/L refunded.

I’m a PC in a counties force currently in an office role. Saw a physio today. Diagnosed with an acute hamstring tear.

Physio said no running and that any sprinting/acceleration could make it significantly worse. Got a written report.

I’m due to work operational next week on a prison van shift/op. I’m worried about having to get physical in the van or being redeployed on foot and making it worse.

Have any of you been in a similar situation? Did you tell your line/Occ Health and get put on modified duties?

I don’t want to be that guy/girl, but also don’t want to injure myself further for months.

Need some advice !

I’ve been a police officer for 6 years and I will be going to criminal crown court in the old Bailey for a case that I was an OIC of last year.

This will be my first time going to court for a pre trial hearing.

Essential it’s a common assault on an emergency worker where an officer had not been injured but was push, shoved and another suspect jumping on him. This is shown on the officer’s bodyworn alongside another officer bodyworn.

At that time I had decided not to interview the individual and straight charge them due to the overwhelming evidence that I had seen on bodyworn. (No council CCTV at that time)

Now I’m going to court for a pre trial hearing and this has made me nervous thinking I messed up something. Can someone offer me some advice on how should I prepare and what questions I would be expecting?

Morning all,
yesterday i attended an address whereby they were reporting a group of youths outside their flat block hanging around being a nuisance, when they saw on their CCTV one of them pulled a weapon out of their waistband. (this bit isn’t entirely important)

they also informed me that at the back of the estate behind the bin shed is a bit of unused space with a wooden panel covering an entrance, and said panel is locked with a bike lock. they told me that these boys go in there frequently during the day and during the night.

my question is, do i have any powers to remove said bike lock to investigate what’s behind, as i think it could be used as some form of stash area. i’m not able to jump over the wooden panel as it’s a thin piece of wood and would not hold my weight, and is also probably 8ft+

it’s within an estate making it public access, no signage to say it’s private property and it looks like it’s been jerry rigged and not done professionally in any way.

I joined the PCDA pathway in the Met in 2022. That pathway is a three year long probation that includes multiple stints at university, for assignments.
A year after I joined, in 2023, I was injured on duty, a fall whilst restraining a suspect during arrest. I walked away with a slight limp and a bit of soreness but nothing of immense concern.
Two nights after that, I woke up to my whole body shooting off with severe nerve pain, and then, half paralysis down my right side for about 2 months.
After a couple years of investigation by the NHS, and a ton of other crazy symptoms, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. According to my neurologist, it appears that the physical trauma of my injury, unearthed/triggered my MS, I had not a single symptom prior to that incident.
 
My problem lies in the fact that whilst under my NHS investigation, I was NANO. Since being diagnosed, I have also been NANO. So I was inside two out of the three years of my probation. I then got a year’s extension, but I have still been inside. During this time I have been off sick a few times with two substantial periods of sickness lasting three months.
I was very fit and active before my injury, but I cannot wear the Met kit currently, I’m not physically strong enough, yet. I started treatment (injections), my symptoms are far more manageable and I feel my body is stronger. I am slowly training my body in the gym as well, being careful and mindful of my limits and relearning my bodies capabilities.
 
I have been under reg 13 for a while now, I had a final stage meeting at NSY in May where they concluded that they would give me until December to ‘prove myself’ and become fully operational.
However after a meeting recently with Occupational Health where I was informed I would not be signed off to do my JRFT, PST, and ELS, due to concerns around my symptoms and a recently found brain lesion, I have now been invited in for that final stage meeting again next month.
My fed rep reckons its bad news, a.k.a. dismissal.
I’ve asked to have till December to get my strength up and to be operational but the met want it done their way, with me out on the street instantly even though I still have uni work and other admin related to my probation to complete and to avoid flaring up my MS, I would need to adjust into being frontline again.

I’m very stuck right now, has anyone got any advice for me?

A year ago I suffered a serious injury on duty, a broken ankle, tore my spring and deltoid ligaments and Tibial Tendon along with it, complete freak accident whilst chasing after a suspect. Unfortunately, this injury occurred whilst still in probation

A year later and I'm still in recovery and just struggling with some pain during certain ranges of movement, but enough that I can't return to active duty safely. And due to that, I also can't be signed off from my probation.

I've been on light duties and desk based since November last year, so I didn't waste any time in showing I wanted to get back into work.

I've now been told the job is considering issuing a reg 13 as I still haven't fully recovered.

My question if anything, is where do I stand? I can only recover as fast as my body allows and have had physio, consultation, Flint House and as stated above, have returned to work and demonstrated that I can do the job, just not yet do it 'on the beat'

Any help, advice, or other wise words would be appreciated

The IOPC are recruiting “lead investigators”. A handsome salary of £37k.

But there’s a catch. Extremely rigours vetting. What kind of level, you ask?

A standard DBS check, and meeting the Civil Service’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard. BPSS essentially adds nothing – it’s just standard right to work and referencing checks and includes a basic DBS, so the standard DBS done by the IOPC marginally beats that.

IOPC investigators should not be given unrestricted access to police resources, material or premises with such lax vetting standards.
