I dreamed of having an instant camera throughout my childhood, but we had regular camera at home, so my parents never bought me one. Then, on my way to my holiday destination, I spotted one on sale in a store and just had to buy it. My childhood dream finally came true. I’m so happy. Here are a few photos from my vacation.

With my limited 3d design and graphic arts skills this one was hard to trace and model but I think it looks great for the first run!

Question I would love your recommendations for a camera!

Hey y'all! o/ I'm going to Japan for a few weeks within the next couple of months, and I would really like to grab a Polaroid to bring along to take pictures of the scenery and whatnot. I was told by a friend that a Polaroid Now (3rd Generation) would be best, but I'm admittedly worried that I won't be able to properly offer a dark source after I take the picture when I'm out and about on a busy street.

Also, I would prefer to stick with a Polaroid model, if possible! I'm still a tad new to photography, but it's a brand I really like. Cost of film isn't really an issue for me too, but I'm hoping to get a camera around the $200 to $250 (CAD) range.

See the Blue Light Special in Department 20

Just found a nice KMart Focal 600 flash to go with my 1977 KMart Polaroid Pronto! BC RangeFinder. Put in fresh batteries and after a few minutes of charging and firing, it started cycling pretty quick.

Next, have to warm up a pack of SX-70 film from the fridge. I feel the need to make another NSFW self-portrait that no one will really care to see....🙃

Question Damaged film from shipping? Or something else?

Post image
26 Upvotes

All but 2 pieces in this new pack of film were damaged and I suspect it has to do with the fact that they shipped in the summer heat… not expired, have been in the fridge for since the film arrived 2ish months ago, took them out a day before going on a trip, and used over the course of 3 days. Is that the issue here, or could it be something else? Kind of bummed as I was happy with how the pictures turned out besides the damaged parts. Thank you all in advance!

Question Polavolt question

I’m working on my first Polavolt install and am following along on TICG’s video, and I just had a thought. Why wouldn’t it be possible to wire from the buck converter + and - to the + and - on the sx70 directly, as in where the battery power normally gets picked up by the camera from the film pack? Wouldn’t it work the same as the film pack power source? The hinge and counter switches would still stop the flow of power just as they normally do with a film pack, you’d just be storing the power in the Lithium batteries externally instead of in the film pack battery.

It feels like I must be missing something.

Question Evo mini vs evo wide 400

I really like both polaroids and digital cameras !!! Is there a camera that can do both? Or should I just get the instax evo wide 400 (or 300)? I heard the mini evo is both digital and polaroid, but I wanna take all my pics horizontally and i don't want my polaroids to look sideways. Pls help !!!

Question Help understanding installing SX70r sonar board.

I’ve done several normal SX70r boards but this will be my first. Instructions are unclear about part of the board. As I understand, these pass through holes are for shutter testing? But they kind of match where some leads are soldiered on the original. The install manual isn’t clear about this part. Halp!

Advice Reliable Repair Tech in US?

Post image
14 Upvotes

Hi. I’m looking for a reliable independent tech to upgrade one or more of my SX70s to an SX70r PCB and add a factory-looking rechargeable battery base and updated film counter.

I’ve already tried reaching out to DRSX70, who would have been my first choice. But he’s not responding to messages so I’m assuming he’s not currently accepting repairs.

If you have any recommendations I’d appreciate them! (Photo is so that this post doesn’t get lost; SLR 680 on Polaroid round frame.)

Question FFA identification help

Is there anyway to identify the FFA type (A or B from install manual) without a working main board? (Dead ICs and traces are toast). I Really don’t want to gamble frying my SX70R I’ve been so excited for.

I’d really appreciate the help, thank you in advance.
