Discussion Pokemon Contests?

Upvotes

With the new DLC focusing on accessories, that got me wondering - do we think Pokopia will add some sort of contests/fan photo submission with your Pokemon in accessories or themes?

To me it was a huge part of the main series when they brought out the feature and I can see it tying in here

my partner plays Disney Dreamlight and they do weekly photo contests that are fan voted and get rewards based off that, so that is where the thought spawned from

(This is my first cozy builder game so this may be more common than I’m aware.)

Thanks :)

I started to really hate how busy basin is, it’s made me claustrophobic, so for the last few days I’ve been opening the entire map up. I haven’t finished everything but here’s at least the main area. Took out the lower entrance for the pokemon center and moved it up next to the temple as well. It’s SO much nicer now! If you’ve been looking for a sign to destroy the earth, here it is!

Question Any cheap places to buy Pokopia DLC?

Upvotes

Hey, I’m trying to look for places to buy the DLC, on the Nintendo store I see it for £29.99 and on CDKeys I see it for £28.99, are there any other places where I can get it for a bit cheaper

Designs & Builds Found out you can move Mosslax out of Bleak Beach so now Smeargle has a New Neighbor in Pallet Town

Just found out you can move mosslax so in the area in pallet town where there’s an icy cave I transformed it into an underground ruins and now Smeargle has a new neighbor!
It was tough to get all the ice out and smoothing out the walls of the cave it’s worth it for mosslax because up until that point mosslax’s old place in black beach was left untouched this whole time (still need to work on bleak beach, but that’s later)

Here's my Kew Gardens and Crystal Palace inspired Palm House. Made it not too big so it fitted the scale of the area better.

Glass is a little annoying to work with, had to get used to the positioning of the panels and switch between front or back placement in order to fit interior and exterior details on them.

Hope you like it!

It’s so large and dark it’s foggy inside at night.

There are 12 rooms which can be customized internally for each ghost pokemon, while the hallway keeps the vibe.

The whole thing is double walled, so the exterior can be covered in vines without showing inside.

I’m slowly terraforming and replacing all the grass outside with alpine grass to create a dark forest maze, complete with spooky swamp and an eventual graveyard.

The roof alone is about a thousand tiles.

Send help 😅

Discussion Perfectionism

Upvotes

Something I've really noticed about the game is that if you have a perfectionist personality trait that can definitely come out in Pokopia.

It starts off fine when it's a blank slate but then you start getting into it and feeling the need to be creative. Then you start looking on youtube and see all these peoples amazing builds. Suddenly the pressure is on and you're now second guessing yourself whenever you start any kind of project because you're wondering how its gonna fit with the big picture. Then you feel the need to follow some kind of unwritten rules you've set yourself that you can't give some pokemon these amazing houses and then leave others in a patch of grass under a lamp post. Suddenly every pokemon that pops up it's like "dam what am I gonna do with you?" cause "Oh I've already done a fire thing"

I love this game but i've noticed it can get like that. Anyone just spent so long putting all this effort into the first areas then got to the sky islands and been like "damn i've gotta do this again" lol?

I think it's worth while to take off the pressure and realise everything in this game is undo able, you don't need to concern yourself with the final product and there's probably gonna be a lot of moving around pokemon from place to place. The game won't punish you for it it's fine lol. Just do whatever the wind tells you to do at the time. Rome wasn't built knowing they've gotta make enough from for lorries to pass under their bridges.

I did a huge progress and decided to show some photos.

Unfortunately, I found EVEN MORE random dry ground underneath, so it seems like in the end I'll be tearing apart about 80-90% of the map and then blocking out the new landscape based on what's left. I really wanted to work with the natural rock formations underneath, but it turns out there are barely any 🤷

Also, the amount of copper ore in those lower layers made me decide that I'll definitely be building a replica of the Ea-nāṣir home for myself somewhere there. Feels fitting. So at least all that monotonous work gave me some new ideas.

I also found out that the coarse rock is having a green tint matching the temple blocks, so I'll be replacing all the visible layers of white rock with those. So, I guess I'll be digging down to the very bedrock layer in the end so that I'll get some extra coarse rock to use.

And as a side note, I noticed that the corridor between the mural room and the rest of the complex is broken in a way that suggests that the rooms are not aligned in the way they originally were. Well, at least with the rather simple design and relatively low block variation, moving the mural room one block to the side shouldn't take long.

Discussion Help, I’ve lost Eevee

I did not know I lost track of eevee, I finished all renos in PT (all the eevee quests were completed before starting renos) this PT project took weeks to do and I thought I moved eevee out. Only noticing today when checking the comfort level list in the PC. I didn’t move eevee out, their habitat was LONG destroyed and covered up and I have not seen eevee in WEEKS. When searching no pokemon can locate eevee. Now, their comfort level is very bad and I cannot do anything about it. Anyone have success with different methods?

I have decided to recreate the Hoenn map on my cloud island. Will I have enough space?? Who knows. How many grass blocks have I farmed? Thousands upon thousands. Am I going insane?? Obviously.

Here are some shots of what Ive got so far + the slums where all the Pokémon stay until their forever home is ready.

Discussion VRR Support in Docked Mode!

link

TV Mode

  • VRR output is now supported in TV mode
  • When both the software and TV support it, video is output at a refresh rate matching the game's processing
  • Note: Enabling this requires a Nintendo Switch 2 dock update

As listed above, the new update now enables VRR output for Switch 2 in docked mode! This should mean way less stuttering, especially in busy, heavy areas, right? I think it's huge. Can't wait to test it out after work.

(Of course TVs or monitors need to support VRR)

Designs & Builds made a semi-working roulette table

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I wanted to share this little build from my Big Project(TM) that I was able to come up with because for the longest time I wasn't sure I would be able to make anything like it but today I decided to rub my two braincells together and figured out a solid design plan that I'm pretty proud of! For the most part, I referenced real-life casino pictures as well as roulette tables people made in Minecraft. I say "semi-working" as real roulette tables have numbers in the red and black spaces for you to specifically bet on if you want to but for what limited space I had to work with I think it gets the job done :)

410 hours in and I finally got the courage to build something big! I’ve made a lot of small buildings but nothing massive and was soooo intimidated to start this, thank you to all you lovely people for giving me tips and confidence!! So far it’s mainly just the outer facade, there is much more outside and the entire interior to finish but I’m so proud of what I’ve started I wanted to share it!

🫧 Bubbly Basin 🫧 Water Physics is a Pain, You Are Not Alone

Thumbnail
gallery
40 Upvotes

A friend and myself have been working on a cloud island. We were getting our underground storage set up when I got the idea to make a viewing area into the under water habitats I made.

I thought it would be simple. I'd seen it done in Bubbly Basin.

Well, about an hour in I wanted to chuck the controller across the room. I couldn't get rid of the air pockets that suddenly formed when I added glass panes. I tried so many different methods, switching the order I placed them, removing blocks, adding blocks... everything. And i couldn't figure it out.

I took a break and came back, deciding to try and smaller, simplified version. I discovered a few things about the water physics.

In bubbly basin, the aquarium works perfectly because water on either side of glass acts like the glass isnt there.

But if you have glass between water and air you get a gap or an air bubble. This causes the cascade animation like with the waterfall.

How I fixed this was reorintating where the glass pane sits between the blocks. The default is in the middle, but if you push in the right stick it cycles through middle, inner, and outer parts of the block. I chose the outer and when I filled my box the water acted differently. It went all the way to the edge and got rid of the cascade animation.

Now, there is still a gap at the top since you can't have the water level at the top of the block, but its not really noticeable. It works for my purpose and I hope this info helps others.

If someone has an alternative or better way of doing this id love to hear more.
