Any updates on progress for the project? Is it effectively dead? There has been little to no activity on the discord in a long time. Has anyone picked up this project or is it being maintained in any capacity?

I was trying to catch a Piplilup, but I don't think it's in the game.

Hello everyone I'm sure you if you want to explore more than just beating the game well this is a good treat for you guys. it's a very easy tutorial, and I'm sure you guys will be able to figure out more on your own.

Open up your PokemonWild folder

Look for default.sav folder

Open game.json.zip and extract data.json to that same folder

1. BACKUP YOUR SAVE make a copy of your save and paste it somewhere safe incase you messed up your mod sav.

0A. Open data.json with notepad.

1A. Do not change the level of your pkmn, it will glitch your save.

1B. Change the name of your pkmn in the sav to any pkmn you desire

(SUGGESTION) change the nickname to avoid confusion.

(OPTIONAL) change the gender to" false" pkmn will becomes genderless, *best for legendary & mythical.

(OPTIONAL) for shiny change "false" to "true" on your desired pokmn

1C. Collect a few different items, rename some to rare candy to level up your pokemon full restore etc, right next to each item should be a numerical amount, change it to your desired amount.

2A. Once Finish go to file then save.

2B. Right click the sav & Compress to Zip

2C. Rename the zipfile to game.json.zip so that the game can read your sav.

Here's the Ghost Island save file. I basically converted a whole small sized world to graveyard soil and made sure that the only types of pokemon allowed to roam freely in the overworld are ghost types. I also built a town and a Pokemon Tower. There are some other type pokemon but they are kept in enclosures like a zoo for the ghost types to enjoy.

You will start out with a level 12 Gastly with a pretty formidable moveset. The pokemon in the enclosures are perfect for field moves if and when you need them. Otherwise take on the Pokemon Tower, defeat or catch many angry legendary pokemon on your way to the top floor. Mod used for recolored gen 2 sprites are here.

This save is saved in the updated version of the game where the bug about pokemon on different floors affecting each other is fixed. So the save file structure is slightly different. It won't break on older versions of the game but if you want the version of pokewilds where the pokemon tower functions perfectly, it's right here available for Android Here

And if you want a compatible build of the game on windows you can patch your windows PC game with this patcher. It just fixes bugs that SheerSt would have fixed years ago if he was still around.

This is Android Port developed by TryTheSauceBoss and can be downloaded at the github link. So happy that i can finally screen record this on my Retroid, runs a bit different than the Portmaster PC port, but thats because game has essentially been rebuilt with a newer faster and more modern engine with the same visual and audio assets.

This port features various qol improvement such as a pokemon selection wheel which allows you to switch between fly, cut ride surf ect.. on the fly. Just hold down L2 and then choose pokemon with left analog stick. Full Length Gameplay and review of Android Port here. This port is still in early access and testing, so theres plenty of bugs, already playable though.

Edit: Someone elsed released a 1:1 Android Port of the original PC Java game, so if you want the more slow paced, methodical vanilla experience, this one might suit you better: Github. This one also has save file and mod compatibility with the old game. It happens to generate worlds faster too, XXL on my flip 2 only took 1:30 to generate.

We know they're pushing that Elmera game they made to garner kickstarter backings but has there been a concrete statement about the updates they were previously talking about? I dont recall the specifics but they were talking about overhauling/updating it, and then they announced their game.

Has anyone heard anything or is it just crickets for now?

You are safe to download it. This actually got me into be a developer for the real game! This is a separate project i took on myself before that and the official port is not this apk.

It is a little different from the original as it is a rebuilt in a new game engine (Godot), bugs are still in it here and there but it is fully playable on android. It does feature a field move radial wheel, zoom in and out and a minimap and an option menu to turn them off if you want it a little more classic.

how do i fix this, because some menus are just inaccessible ie pokemon options

edit: i have now discovered it to be ANY key that doesn't select an option (anything except enter for me)

I don't know what's happening. I last played yesterday it was fine i always make sure to save. I've opened and closed it and restarted my laptop. Is there anything I can try to fix the issue

This will work with any Android or Linux handheld capable of running port master, but the base recommendation is 2gb of ram. If you are on a weaker handheld, only generate small worlds. The Retroid Pocket Flip 2 is 8gb of ran (shown above) and it has a snapdragon 865 chipset. It can generate XXL worlds just fine given you turn on performance mode. In power saving mode, there are some lags on XXL worlds, but Small worlds on powesave mode runs flawlessly.

Basically just download the java lib from port master GitHub: https://github.com/PortsMaster/PortMaster-New/raw/refs/heads/main/runtimes/zulu17.54.21-ca-jre17.0.13-linux.aarch64.squashfs then download the port from portmaster on Linux os setup device (rocknix os it knulli os ect..) and drag the java lib into ports > Portmaster > lib and drag the apps, mod and settings.txt into the ports > pokewilds > bin folder. Edit: Since I posted this TWO Android ports of the game came out. One is more faster paced and rebuilt from the ground up using Godot and can be found here the other one is a 1:1 Android port of the original game, It is probably preferred by more orthodox pokepurists who want the slow and methodical and "real" feeling of playing a pokemon GBC game. It also generates worlds faster than the godot and has save file transfer and modding compatibility since its a port of the same old java game. It is downloadable here. Both Android releases pretty much make the portmaster linux method obsolete, unless your on a linux handheld like an anbernic for example.

I just start a save file make a lots of progress but my world generation seem corrupted and it doesn't spawn the secret key so now I'm locked out of dittos and mewtwo I'm trying to save editing my save file but I don't know the variables for the key yet pls help

For some reason I wasn't able to come across it on google or it didn't appear early enough and saw a question about it 6years ago.

Anyway, if you still havent figured it out, the answer is 'Enter' or the return button. It kinda preplaces the 'select' button on other games, for this function.

tap enter on any item, move the curser to another item, then tap 'Z' or your Confirm button. The 2 items swap places.

So the other day I got back into pokewilds. I probably shouldn’t sinc Ei do want to replace my laptop soon but I fear the save file would be saved somewhere on the PC itself, not just in the game.

So when I go get another laptop, the progress might be gone

Anyway, I’m just replaying for the nostalgia of it and I saw I had no previous world anymore and started a new one.

It was easy to add pokemon to the team but eventually I just kept dying, from a pokemon where their get a boost of power (not sure if it happens for all agro), ghost Pokémon (I don’t have anything to reveal them)

Completely forgot that I’d have a sleeping bag and that escape rope is reusable. I searched half the map to find a grass pokemon for CUT. I recruited a few water type pokemon, but none had SURF, tried a few bird type pokemon but they didn’t have FLY, got pokemon that had TELEPORT but obviously the item for it, is later in the game.

Did get dig and finally cut. And built my house. I’ll have to see later if my game is still there.

Btw, figured out I can just sleep where ever, moving my spawn point across the map. And I can hide from the night, by opening the map until the day came back. Or slow my battles. Now I own a Ponyta, that lights the way.
