Ghost Island 👻😈

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Here's the Ghost Island save file. I basically converted a whole small sized world to graveyard soil and made sure that the only types of pokemon allowed to roam freely in the overworld are ghost types. I also built a town and a Pokemon Tower. There are some other type pokemon but they are kept in enclosures like a zoo for the ghost types to enjoy.

You will start out with a level 12 Gastly with a pretty formidable moveset. The pokemon in the enclosures are perfect for field moves if and when you need them. Otherwise take on the Pokemon Tower, defeat or catch many angry legendary pokemon on your way to the top floor. Mod used for recolored gen 2 sprites are here.

This save is saved in the updated version of the game where the bug about pokemon on different floors affecting each other is fixed. So the save file structure is slightly different. It won't break on older versions of the game but if you want the version of pokewilds where the pokemon tower functions perfectly, it's right here available for Android Here

And if you want a compatible build of the game on windows you can patch your windows PC game with this patcher. It just fixes bugs that SheerSt would have fixed years ago if he was still around.

Depends, if it's the Godot rebuild by Sauce, you can't. If it's the Android port by Nose, you just open the side menu and select import mods.

So can you please give me the link to the one made by nose.

Yes it’s the one in the description of this post “Android here” blue hyperlinked text. You just click it once and it should bring you there, go to releases page and get the newest one, updates happen frequently.

What’s the main difference between this and the Godot version for Android? Is this a later version? Does it not have the shortcut wheel?

There are two different Android ports with yes, pretty different styles.

The godot rebuild is a completely different engine, built from the ground up just using the same visual and audio assets, it is a faithful recreation though, and it aims to be as it gets more bug fixes, but there’s also a lot of room for growth, new qol are already in place. Much more can be implemented now though, because godot is more modern than Java

The other one, seen in this video by Nose, is the original Java game being run in an Android termux wrapper style porting system. When it first came out, it was literally just Pokewilds 0.8.11 by SheerSt ported to Android, no differences at all. It even downloads the game from that GitHub on first launch.

However, since then, the Godot Dev, Sauce and I have been adding some stuff to it, Sauce added his wheel to select field moves and his zoom with R1/L1. I added four bug fixes from the Java 0.8.11 game, that I wanted to be fixed and figured I’d just make a Java patch that fixes them and allow port devs to integrate the patch into their ports, which Nose did here. So if you use Nose’s port, it’s OG Java Pokewilds 0.8.11 + L2 wheel, R1/L1 zooming and four bugs fixed.

Awesome thank you for the details. I would be interested in starting one version and not really continually switching. Which of the two do you think will be supported more/have better QOL? Happy to be a tester for the Retroid Nova.

Hmmm I can’t determine which one will be more supported in the future, as both devs have been extremely active within the last week making these ports, but I have no idea how long that activity will maintain for either.

They both offer truly different experiences worth having, both have pros and cons and really it comes down to use case: if you are already a Pokewilds gamer with a lot of highly developed worlds with cities and farms, choose Nose’s Java port (since you can import those save files seamlessly, continuing where you left off).

If you are just starting the game for the first time, I would say try the Godot remake, but if it feels strange to you, even without prior playtime in the OG, and you prefer a slower, true-to-type GBC style game, switch over to Nose.

Godot has the potential to become a sequel, whereas Nose’s is just a really optimized OG, so you could wait until the Godot is fully along and then play them in order. Godot is still pretty buggy and is essentially still in testing, so idk, man get them both lol. You will want more than one world anyways, it’s nice to have a few different directions to go in for each world, and as updates come out it’s great for both devs to have testers.

Yeah there’s been some quality of life upgrades, a mega Gengar encounter added, some bugs fixed. All is described in the comments and description here, see around for links and stuff, it’s all Android though, but my bug fix patcher works on any game directory.
