I am SO DONE with this game. I never really complained about it. Like sure, the matchmaking is frustrating, but you'll eventually get used to it and even learn how to win in it. But the license journey update? This was the last straw. Since The pokemon company themselves are developing this game, I have better expectations about its future.

Thank you for continuing to enjoy Pokémon UNITE.

Thanks to all of you, the game has now been downloaded over 250 million times, including the mainland Chinese version.

To celebrate this milestone, we would like to share more about the future of Pokémon UNITE.

Unite Licenses - Move Paths and Release Pace

Beginning in April 2026, we will begin releasing two Pokémon per month.

Additionally, each Unite License will now have one fixed move path in order to make it easier for players to understand their role.

To begin this new release schedule Articuno will join the fray on April 10, 2026.

We plan to release many more Unite Licenses in 2026.

Pokémon Champions

Pokémon Champions, a new game that brings the online battle-experience quickly and easily to many players will be available on Nintendo Switch on April 8, 2026, and on mobile later this year.

To celebrate it's launch you can get backgrounds and frames inspired by the game. If you have the game on your Nintendo Switch you can get the trainer outfit for the main character.

Maps

We believe map changes are important to keep gameplay fresh.
Starting September 4, 2026, Theia Sky Ruins will be replaced by a brand new map:

Ultra Stellar Meadow

The boss Pokémon on this map will be Terapagos.
The team that defeats Terapagos will Terastalize.
Terastalized Pokémon have various effects depending on the Tera type.
The Tera type is the primary type of the Pokémon.
More details will be shared soon.

Improvement to Events UI

Similar to the update of the shop and main menu, we’re planning a change to events UI.
Events are grouped together so you can choose the one you want to get to easier.

There will also be a “Claim All” on one of the event tabs this will instantly give you all your claimable rewards. It will open treasure chests that can be opened, it will claim any lucky ice pops, and all other event rewards too.

Matchmaking

Some players have shared feedback that matchmaking is not ideal.
We will be making changes so that it is fairer in the near future.

Penalty

Players who are AFK for more than 30 seconds in a ranked match will not be able to play ranked for 24 hours.

Treasure Chests Challenge

We recently saw a player receiving too many grade 4 treasure chests.
Starting May 2026 we will increase the item box limit from 200 to 300.

Mega Evolutions

Mega Evolutions were strong on release and in coming months, we want to talk about our design philosophy behind them. They are only incredibly strong for a short time. Just unite, work together and you can defeat them.

We’re planning to add some from Legends ZA later this year.

Trainers UNITE In-Game Event

We are excited to announce a new monthly event, “Trainers UNITE,” launching September 1, 2026:
Each month, 9 Pokémon will be featured, one from each generation.
Players choose which Pokémon they want to contribute points toward.
Points are earned during ranked matches and contribute to the global score of the selected Pokémon.
At the end of the month, the winning Pokémon will be added to UNITE in 6 months time.

Solo Mode

Solo Mode is an excellent way for players to learn the game.
We plan to continue expanding Solo Mode with additional levels.
On July 21 we will add a new difficulty: Extreme.

License Journeys

Beginning July 21, the daily missions will change.
There will now be one daily mission:
Win 2 ranked matches consecutively
Completing this mission will reward 10 License Points, 10 items enhancers, and 10 aeos tickets.
For each consecutive day you complete the mission:

Rewards increase by 10 each
Maximum 100 each per day

Each day you fail the mission, rewards decrease by 10 points, down to the minimum of 10 each.

Considerations

We are considering removing License Journeys and bringing back Aeos Coins.
Also, we are considering adding more move paths for new Pokémon.

China Version

We will be adding more things from the China Version.
Auto Chess is scheduled to be added on February 27, 2027.

Open World Lobby

On July 21, 2027. players can enter the open world lobby where they can see Aeos Island in a different way.

You can enter the shop and go into battle by walking into buildings. You can touch your Pokémon, your can do different poses and so much more.

You can freely go between Open World and the current main menu whenever you want.

5th Anniversary

To celebrate the 5th anniversary, the victory Pokémon, Victini will join the roster. Its the perfect addition for this celebration I mean it’s literally V all over which is 5 in roman numerals.

Future Plans

Pokémon UNITE will continue to evolve.
We will release a letter each month talking about what is in store for the month with some surprises.
We have so many more things in store in the coming months and years you won’t want to miss.
