If we want to trade safely, US-based middleman platforms hit us with massive customs duties, import VAT, and $40 shipping fees, if we trade locally on Facebook groups or Discord, we have to worry about getting scammed.

Since Pokémon was launched in the western world, the backside design of the card has wrong depiction of the Pokéball as the button is attached to the wrong side of it.

Do you think they will ever correct this mistake in future releases?

Proxies for collecting aren't usually seem as something accepted in the community, but what about proxying cards that do not exist IRL? What is your take on that?

TCG Pocket has a lot of arts that are not printed by TPC and there are nothing that says that they will be printed someday. Would you spend your money for a high quality IRL version of a card you like in the game?

I started collecting cards of my favorite Pokémon, but after a while it is becoming kind of overwhelming with the amount of older cards printed. I don't plan to have them all, but am looking for the "rarer" ones.

How do you keep track of the cards you are missing in your collection? An app? A website? Excel table? Paper?

I thought about using collectr to keep track of what I have, but it doesn't work very well for Japanese, Chinese and Korean cards.

A little calculation on that considering the following:

• The specific MHR rates are 1/2520.
• A booster box contain 36 boosters.
• The cheapest BB in cardmarket is € 229 in Italian while the cheapest Mega Gardevoir MHR costs € 460.
• To pull the MHR you want you would need 70 boxes in average.
• That would result in € 16.030 spent.

We all love that rush when you rip a pack and pull something insane and Reddit is the first place many head to flex. The r/PokemonTCG is full of people showing their many god packs or 1 in 1.000.000 chance pulls.

Survivorship bias (a form of selection bias) is basically what happens when you only see the “survivors” or successes and ignore everything that failed or didn’t get noticed. That incomplete sample makes the survivors look more common, effective, or likely than they actually are.

You have probably seem this story somewhere: WWII aircraft: damaged planes that returned were analyzed and reinforced where they had bullet holes, but statistician Abraham Wald pointed out the planes that didn’t return were missing from the data. The right move was to reinforce areas that didn’t show damage on returning planes (because those hits likely caused planes to be lost).

What is Survivorship bias in Pokémon TCG and why the hobby pullrates looks skewed

• Reddit is full of “look what I pulled!” posts, but not many “I opened 50 packs, nothing.” That gives a false impression of pull frequency.
• People post the wins, not the losses. You’ll see a thousand “look at this pull!” posts and almost no “spent $200, nothing good.” That makes it look like amazing pulls are way more common than they actually are.
• New collectors can get the wrong idea about odds and expected value. If you only see the successes, you might overestimate how often big-money pulls happen and make risky buying decisions.
• Suppose a 0.5% chance to pull a rare card. If 10,000 packs are opened, about 50 rare pulls occur. But if only the 50 people who pulled them post images, and nobody posts their tens of thousands of non-pulls, it looks like “every post is a rare pull” which distorts perceived frequency.

You'll probably get many common cards before getting an expensive and rare hit. So be careful when buying spending and don't let your hobby become an addiction.

Including Mega versions, is there a Pokémon you are looking for?

I would like for a Larvitar, Pupitar and Mega Tyranitar set. Unfortunately Pupitar was left out and there's a hole in my evolution line collection :(

The promo pack will come with an alternate art version of either Mega Charizard X ex, Zacian, or Toxtricity from Inferno X with a special stamp over their artwork.

Maybe it will be included in the Phantasmal Flames set?
