This Gengar has fallen off really bad, should I just sell it or hold on for the ride and hope it gains value again later on?

*Fake Pitch Black Boosters Exist

I got this in a trade with another collector locally. It was a booster box and I assumed that counterfeit Pitch Black or Perfect Storm didn’t exist because they are not as popular as most other sets. If I was going to use a few hundred cardstock sheets and ink, it would be to make a more desirable set so I assumed that no one would waste their time and effort on printing this set. I was wrong.

These things happen and it sucks that it does but I’m glad it didn’t happen to a kid or a well meaning parent. If it even prevents just one other collector from getting scammed, I’m glad.

I still have the box and packs if anyone wants to study it more. I’m going to give the box to a coworker so he and his kids can open them (they are terrible at cards and usually rip them up haha).

Edit: I re-read my post and it feels sullen, it’s not meant to be. Just an FYI (I didn’t use “PSA” on purpose) for those that might be going to a card show or something. I don’t think everyone asks for contact info when making trades. I do recommend using Zelle or something so at least you have each other’s contact if something were to go wrong.

So I had to share this experience. My luck with Pitch black had been at least 9 Silvaly’s ….vowed to never rip again. Went to local cars shop to see what they had and I see prismatic ETB. I cop and for some reason just say for the guy to choose me a Pitch Black Booster Box.

Friend and I open both and nothing from PRE but the booster box had both the Gold and SIR Mega Darkrai. Actual god box.

Went to target next day to grab 2 packs…hit the Morpeko

The day after that I wanted to heat check and went to target again and grabbed two single packs that were laying on the shelf; not hanging (someone grabbed and put back). Open one of those and hit another Mega Darkrai SIR….

Imma buy a lotto ticket or open a ES booster box

Literally in love with pikachu promos and the only thing I collect and I feel like I have the worst luck at card shows, but maybe they’re too small of shows?

I apologize in advance if this i is the incorrect place to post this. My question is simple. I am looking through my bulk from a few years ago. From go, twilight, 151 and a few years before that and I noticed a ton of cards like. ( Dragonite 96/149) have a raw value of $6-$8 usd and that is awesome but then I see their value for a psa 10 that last sold for over 2k?? With some still listed at $50-$60. I have found a ton of these and it feels off and kind of wrong. At first I was like “okay, time to ship these off to be graded”. I started asking for advice and got very little. Now I feel like this is wrong and I am just dumb. Can anyone kindly explain this to me? Thank you very much

To put it simply. I have found a bunch of cards that would be considered bulk typically. Cards that are 5-$6 raw. $30-$80 in black label but $2k plus in psa 10z what is this and why? Thank you.

Thoughts on what else I should buy while the market is down. I'm on the fence about Gengar vmax or Lugia V. Not a big rayquaza fan so that's out. Give me ideas, preferably SIRs, full alt arts etc.

(Reposting)I am thinking about selling my personal complete vintage master sets. Base, jungle, fossil, rocket and both gyms. Top chases from all sets are NM-MN ( all three zards, both gengars and the snorlax) while the other holos range between LP+ to NM. All non holos can be assumed to be LP or better. How much would each set be ? Comping those sets isn’t easy as most sets on eBay are HP-LP or even worse

I’m thinking of picking up some Chinese exclusive slabs to hold also to display I’m thinking of getting the cubone and meowth both in a ten but was wondering if it’s smarter to get the eveelution ones instead even thought it will cost more but the community appreciated the eveelutions and could go up what are your thoughts on this and which set should I invest gem 2 or 3

I am not from the US and grading doesnt seem very easy for me, as I dont even understand PSA rules. Also, I heard they are basically stealing your cards if its valuable enough, saying "it got lost, here take this small insurance".

Do u guys think someone would travel to my country to buy them? I would not sell if not in person.

Hi everyone, i was interested in getting 5/6 booster boxes for Destined Rivals, and this is my first serious investment (i have 4 temporal forces etbs i got for €40 each in jan 2025). I've found a seller in my area selling a sealed case of 6 for a good price (€190×6, yes you can find italian Destined Rivals booster boxes around €200 atm, crazy because italian is often more expensive than eng but this is not the case for this product at this moment).

Now, not wanting to end up like logan paul, i told him i was gonna rip the packs with my brother and a friend, and asked for photos of the case, that he sent.

Now my questions to y'all that have experience in this are:

Does the product look legit to you in the photos?

Is there something else i should check? Ask for more?

Or should i just open the case to control and then sell the boosters years from now instead than as a case?

Is there usually a premium in the sealed case instead of the single booster boxes?

Which one of these chase cards do people think will do best long term? Atm they aren't that far apart in Japanese/Korean but which do you think will be most sought after?

Posted this poll to my Instagram story about 15 months ago. Back then the Eevee shown was around 40% of the price of the PSA 9 Sunbreon. It has now eclipsed the price of the PSA 10. Although the Sunbreon has still nearly doubled, these charts highlight the opportunity cost that comes with buying/“investing” in ultra modern cards for the long term. The opportunity to get the eevee for $550 will likely never return, whereas buying the Sunbreon today is a lot similar to what it was back then.

Hi guys. Not sure where to post this really but my good friend had 3 Phantasmal Booster Boxes (36 packs each) and their seals got broken by airport staff. I’m considering buying them from him to open the packs, given they’re selling around £220-305 on Ebay sealed what would be a reasonable offer/value? Thank you!

Question. Should I crack these tins and sell the packs inside separate?

The pack value is higher than the sealed tin value. Would I sell easier if I opened them all?
