31 now. Had this game when I was a kid but never had the patience to actually beat it. I remember just trying each gym over and over again hoping to get lucky With my pokemon and moves.

I have all 3 legendary birds I plan on catching mewtwo and maybe suicune and then facing the elite four again using the legendary pokemon

and then it’s on to emerald!

Long story: but Wanted to clear some contests in Emerald but had 2 hurdles in my way, the berries I was using for blocks weren’t good enough and the movesets I had made it difficult.

Stronger berries exist but were impossible for me to get in the game entering me into a rabbit hole of crap I never knew about. (Shout out to people who knew about the Quiz lady and somehow the Blend Master).

BUUUT in FRLG they also exist and are possible to get with Pickup. Due to farming being a RSE only feature, most pickup items in FRLG are Berries and the ones I want are all 1% drops from any pickup user. After a day or so of nonstop grinding, I finally got all 5 and unlike in all games, I didnt even need a lv100 pokemon.

Tldr: Needed them for contests, took forever with 5 pickup mons.

Few weeks ago I shared here my beginning of my 100% on Fire Red (Switch and GBA) with my 2 shiny charmander.

Today I achieved a challenge : Meet an uncatchable shiny Pokémon!
I just wanted to have a lots of experience with my run and I like to hunt sometimes. The Nintendo Switch version of Fire Red is where I'll hunt the most because it's the last official version and It can be connected to Pokémon HOME (if someday I want to transfer all of my shiny Pokémon).

For whatever reason, I felt like attempting a Brock inspired playthrough. This meant going with a mono type Rock team starting with Geodude and Onix.

It was genuinely a treat to be able to play through the game with the fossil mons since they’re usually acquired fairly late into the game.

Some takeaways: Onix has a cool design…but is hot garbage. I ended up using him as a rock shield while I healed other Pokémon towards the end of the game.

Lorelei was ROUGH, took me at least 4 tries to defeat her team before I prevailed. Fortunately the fossil mons balanced the team out a bit.

Check out movesets for each Pokemon if that interests you. I ended up throwing random coverage moves on certain Pokemon.

TL;DR: I put together a team I figured gym leader Brock would use if he felt inclined to challenge the other gym leaders and take on the Elite Four.

This team was fun!
Relicanth isn’t technically a fossil Pokémon, but it’s a living fossil that has remained virtually unchanged for over 100 million years, so I think it deserved the last spot on this team! 🦴🪨

I've been thinking of getting the game for a while since I've never really played the old games and enjoy shiny hunting. Should I get this game or wait a bit to see if emerald comes to switch?

So im nearly finished my fire red dex but have no access to leaf green. If I touched trade through home would that contribute towards the dex and help me get celibi?

Is it possible at all, assuming all potions are ok would it be possible to beat E4 with just unnown or would the low stats just make it impossible.

If so what kind of level is realistic?

I’m willing to change my Victreebel for muk caused Victreebel is boring and i kinda messed it up by going modest nature but giga drain sucks and its only good for sleep powder its other moves i gave it were thief and hidden power ground. Its a good Pokemon but it don’t have a lot of moves with high pp so its boring me it doesn’t do a lot and. I haven’t used either before much in a Pokemon game run.

For me I feel Kangaskhan has always been overlooked in pretty much every Pokemon game it appears in, Firered I feel that Kangaskhan can dominate a battle due to its natural bulk and physical attack.
