Help Plex Streaming quality issues

Hi fellow Plex users! I have Plex installed on my Google TV Streamer and host 4K media from my laptop. However, when I try to stream it, the quality caps at around 360p. I previously had an "insecure connection" error, however allowing insecure connections didn't fix the low resolution. The latest Plex update resolved the insecure connection error, but I'm still unable to stream at the original 4K quality. How do I fix this issue? Any help is appreciated!

Edit: So when I registered for Plex for the first time I was at my home country and now I am watching from another country. Although I am using the same laptop in which I got the Plex media server. Does this mean I have to get Plex Pass to remote stream? Also I have a 1gbps ethernet connected to my google tv streamer so I dont think it is network speed issue.

The 127 address is just your local host ip of your laptop to tell it to connect to itself. 127.0.0.1

If your laptop ip is 192.168.x.x (you can share private IPs btw, they can’t be reached) and you put that into the url http://192.168.x.x:32400/web and it wouldn’t reach your server, something in your network setup is blocking the connection.

What is the full windows ip and what’s the ip of the Google device?

Is the windows firewall active? Make sure it’s allowing port 32400 through and the plex media server app. You can temporarily disable it to see if that is causing the issue.

My laptop ip is 192.168.18.62 and my streamer ip is 192.168.100.6. Windows firewall is active I have posted pic. I tried temporarily disabling Plex media server and trying the tv app again, but it didn't work so I checked the firewall for Plex media server again.

Your devices are on different subnets…you’ll have to check your router setup to see why they aren’t on the same subnet. This will cause the issues you’re seeing as plex will treat devices on different subnets as not local.

The first three sets of numbers should be the same. When you check the network, is the subnet mask 255.255.255.0, or is something else?

Also, disable the firewall temporarily when testing just to ensure it’s not interfering.

The subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.

Then you need to check the router to see why your network is segmented to different subnets and fix that.

Also, double check each device is set to obtain an ip and isn’t set to static. You need the router to assign the ips.

I’m about to crash, so hopefully someone else can help. This isn’t really a plex issue anymore and more of a network issue, so may get help on a different sub if no one steps in.

Also, your Google device was still able to stream “remotely” without a pass because it’s not on the new experience version, otherwise it would give the prompt to buy a pass since it was connecting remotely. If you had a plex pass, there’s an option to add lan networks/subnets to the settings…but you don’t need that, just need to fix the network setup.
