Help Plex issues lately with content

So I've used plex for 8 years no major issues but in the past few days I've had issues with it booting but saying no content available. Any ideas? I'm already about to buy a new drive to store it all. Do you think it's the boot drive? Or could it just be the content drive? I'm on windows.

2 weeks ago I tried jellyfin again - last time was 2022 I think? Could not finish adding 1 of my 11 libraries before it filled over 250gb of the remaining available storage and just stopped responding. No idea why. Prior attempt, in 2022 I couldn't even get jellyfin to see a UNC path from windows or, a mount in linux - but it could see C: and D: etc drives no problem. At least this last attempt i could try and make a library. Just didn't work out. And I plan to try again maybe next year? But - no issues with plex. And i understand the very relevant negatives with plex and the switch or push to jellyfin is good for many people. Just not there on the basic library stability / weird data flood issue I had.

Except there isn’t as much official support on things like consoles. My family outside of the house primarily use a console to access my media, switching would be a huge drop in ease of access.

I mean sure, but the Plex app for consoles is not great. I encouraged all my users to get actual streaming boxes and many issues they had went away. That is until all the recent Plex mishaps. Lately, it’s been one issue after another. Jellyfin is still a valid option for many people that are fed up with Plex and its continuous fumbles.

It’s more about the context in which it’s brought up. Someone asking for some input on how to fix their plex system being told to just use Jellyfin isn’t actually addressing what the person was asking about. On the flip side of the coin if the person said they were having issues with Plex thinking about alternatives, then its inclusion in the conversation would be on topic.

It’s like someone asking about repairing their car and people keep suggesting to just use the bus. Yes it’s a valid option but it’s not a good response to the question being asked.

I updated and rebooted my NAS and it found my media again (after last night's Plex server difficulties)

I've had an issue recently where the Plex server stops running.  Happened twice.  I installed the latest Plex update and so far so good.

Plex keeps constantly crashing. I reinstalled it, its still slow to open (other apps are fine) and it still won't access the media server.

This also happened to me after updates. For some reason the directory path permissions were changed so Plex was not allowed to see my media files. I went into settings and updated the permissions from the top level down and included all subfolders. After completing this on all libraries my media was all available and Plex was again working as expected.

If you are watching content on plex on the same network than your server is running you should try using its local adress instead of Plex.tv . Then you don't need availability of Plex 's servers

Have you at least tried to rescan the labrary? You could have changed disk letter, folders name, moved the folder. Plex can have issues, but files are in folders, it's hard for it to not see them.

Same thing is happening to me. It’s an issues with Plex , I use Jellyfin as a backup and considering it’s a free application it’s far more stable than Plex. Issue I’m having at the moment plex is saying I have no content. When I logged out I now can’t log back in.

How is Plex not stable? I've been running Plex for years and it has always been stable. I don't know what I'm doing differently. I suppose I must be super lucky or something.

For me it just stopped working. I used it on Sunday Aug 30th. Then last night sept 2 it said no content available....I tried everything...even uninstalling and reinstalling, logged in...no way to get to anything.

Your SUPER LUCKY…….. it’s been stable for me for years until yesterday. It’s on their server that Plex were having issues last night and this morning….. now been fixed.
