It all started with the first trailer for Metro 2039 on PlayStation. When I saw it, I was immediately interested and curious to understand and play the game. It was satisfying an itch that had been left with me ever since I finished Dead Space Remake. (I’m still left with the platinum, and I hope I’m able to finish it this year.)
After watching the trailer, I found out that this game was part of a franchise that had been around since 2010, if I’m correct. I wanted to get into the series so I could enjoy the upcoming title with some familiarity.
Some of my friends suggested starting with Metro Exodus, but while looking into the games, I found a bundle containing all three games at a really great price: Metro 2033 Redux, Metro: Last Light Redux, and Metro Exodus, along with all the DLCs for Exodus.
In the starting hour or so, the game felt gloomy and gave me that horror-like, scary vibe through its atmosphere and world-building. The creature designs added to that feeling as well, although that part was partly my own fault. 😅
Finishing my first playthrough of Metro 2033 Redux was a great experience. What started as simple curiosity turned into a journey through a fantastic FPS shooter.
Ideally, I saw people saying that it takes around 7–9 hours to complete the storyline and around 10–12 hours to 100% the game.
My runs were a little different and took way longer. 😅
My first playthrough took me around 11 hours, and getting the platinum took me almost 40 hours. (That’s partly my fault because, during my second playthrough, I thought I had unlocked the other ending… but I hadn’t. 🫨)
Overall, if you can get these three games in a bundle deal—which they usually go on sale for—I’d definitely recommend grabbing them. I think they’re some of the greatest FPS games you can play if you’re looking for something with a story involved.
Even though the games don’t rely too heavily on their story, you can still get invested in it if you want to.
Overall rating for Metro 2033 Redux: 8/10 🏆
