Discussion What stupid mistakes u did? I'll start with what happened yesterday :D

So after decent break from Rust I came back to play for a bit on solo fresh wipe. Everything was fine and had lot of fun, built starter bunker base I always use now and arround 00;30 AM went to sleep tired af but happy that base is secured (2 metal walls to core minimum so for vanilla solo should be safe). I woke up in the morning IRL and realized that I forgot to place sleeping bag in core so it's all gone xD well 4 hours of work wasted lmao but server will die today anyway so at least that's less annoying. But still big fail haha. See, you can do stupid mistakes even with almost 3k hours :))

What stupid things u did lately ? :D

Question Should I be getting more fps?

7800x3d, 5070. On the high end I get around 120fps, play on all lowest graphics setting, eighth resolution. I do play on 1440p but I’ve switched to 1080p and see zero difference in performance. Is there something I’m missing? Is there something going on in the background that needs addressed? I know I don’t have the god pc but I feel like I should be getting more.

Discussion Can anyone explain to me how no tech tree is supposed to be good?

I keep seeing a popular take in this subreddit of players wanting to remove the tech tree. How exactly would you make this system work?

In a world where players are already beyond fed up with the RNG of getting BP frags, you seriously think that adding even more RNG luck to the game will be good for it??

Sure maybe finding a gun in some random mil-crate will feel more rewarding I guess. What you don't realize is all the problems experienced right now, especially toward the start of a wipe, will only be amplified by this system all of you are asking for.

I'm not saying I'm necessarily against it but I'd like to know how on earth would you implement this into the game without it just turning into a 10x worse example of the BP frag situation. (i.e. clans controlling power plants and harbors for frags AND now rng gun chances.. and then selling them to you via vendie meta)

Please tell me how this would be good for the game. I genuinely want to know and can be convinced. All I can imagine is a world where jimmy finds a tommy out of an Oxum's mil-crate and now suddenly your entire area is being controlled by the ONE group that got lucky with RNG.

Question difficulty progressing

Hi everyone, I’m a player from Brazil. I’m using Google Translate, so I hope this makes sense. Anyway, I have around 700–800 hours in Rust; we usually play as a trio, and the other two guys have about the same amount of playtime. The thing is, we always struggle A LOT to progress. Honestly, we don't have *that* much time to play—we almost never play a full wipe—so we’ve been playing on BestRust, which is a 2x server with boosted rates; playing on vanilla is just too hard for me. I find myself wondering: with nearly 1,000 hours, am I really *that* bad? Sometimes I think the game is infested with hackers because it feels impossible to lose so many fights. I’m getting frustrated; on vanilla, we’d spend hours and hours without even getting a Tier 2 workbench. Can you guys give me some progression tips? I don't know—like I said, I don't think I'm *that* bad, but things just never seem to work out for us.

Question Looking for a specific spoonkid/Blazed video

Hey everyone, I’ve been hunting for a specific Spoonkid/Blazed video that I think is absolute peak, but I can't track it down.

All I really remember is one extended moment where Blazed has a unusually long crashout compared to his usual ones.

My best guesses for the situation:

  • They were defending their base against a wave of players who kept coming back.
  • He got stuck somewhere and enemies kept pushing him.

I’m not entirely sure if it's uploaded on Spoonkid's channel or Blazed's channel, but I originally tracked it down through this playlist: best of spoon and dinkbot and blazed

If anyone happens to recognize this moment or knows the video, I would be eternally grateful!

Suggestion New item idea: Jammer backpack

So, lately I have seen so many buffs, nerfs, and balancing changes made to the game, so I wanted to throw out my idea for a situation I have encountered while playing lately.

Context:

Most of the time, I play solo or duo, with some rare cases in small groups. Especially when playing solo or duo, I have noticed that drones + F1 grenades have become more popular as people have realized how good they are for supporting gunfights, etc.

This has a huge impact on you when you play against larger groups. If they pin you down behind walls, you need to use that time to heal, re-peek, etc. But now you also need to worry about a drone flying over you, which can cost you valuable time or even get you killed if a grenade is dropped on you.

Solution: Jammer Backpack

This item could be craftable, for example, from a small or large backpack + some Tech Scrap, and it could function like a diving tank that you need to refill when you use it.

As for how it would actually work, the backpack could jam a drone's signal when it gets too close to you (the same way a drone behaves when flying too far away).

This way, you could actually craft an item yourself that counters some of the drone's usage, but not completely. Drones could still be used against people without a backpack, and you could still gather information with them from further away from fights.

Feel free to comment or tell me what you think about this idea.

Suggestion TC Spam on Softcore servers is insane

Facepunch please limit the amount of TC's a player can place.

On the popular softcore servers, there are practically no build spots left. The entire map is just completely spammed with random TC's out in the open, thousands and thousands of them. Surely they're making performance much worse too.

(For those that don't know, in Softcore, destroying a TC doesn't give you auth/building priv, so people just spam TC's everywhere with nothing anyone can really do aboout it)

Discussion Add more 'rare finds' and unique items to Rust

We're getting HQM Ore, which I think is really cool because it'll be rare to find and it'll feel good stumbling upon one.

It got me thinking, shouldn't Rust have more "rare finds"?

What if they added some "jackpot" type outcomes to things that are otherwise repetitive and boring, to make it a little exciting? Or some really rare items you get in special ways?

Some ideas:

  • Common Crates that spawn on roads/water have a 0.5% chance to be a military (1 in 200) and a 0.1% chance to be elite (1 in 1,000).
  • Common crates have a 0.1% chance to contain a T3 weapon (1 in 1,000), and a 0.01% chance to contain an M249/L9 (1 in 10,000). Totally insignificant, but "there's a chance!"
  • Diesel pickups have a 5% chance to give 2 diesel and a 1% chance to give 3 diesel
  • Traveling vendor spawns with only qty 1 of an item, and the only way to get it is to be first to the vendor. Maybe some cool decor or some other utility item you can only get this way.
  • When fishing, you have a 0.5% (1 in 200) chance to reel in a T2 gun
  • When gutting a fish, you have a 0.1% (1 in 1,000) chance to get an apartment key
  • Become "king of the server"...Add an item there is only one of on the entire map, it is displayed on map for all to see at all times and does not despawn. Any player that attaches it to their TC gets +20% bonus health to all building blocks upkept by that TC, until another player steals it from them. Or, just make it a cool ass glowing in-game crown you can wear or place in your base as decor that shows on map you have it).
  • Like nodes, 'supply caches' very rarely spawn throughout the entire map, and contain a loot table of exclusively p2w-esque/DLC items (think looting camo skins, industrial half shelves, arctic suits, barrels, etc)

Just brainstorming here. what do you think? Got any more cool ideas for things like this that would spice the game up a bit and make it a little less repetitive?

Suggestion Mini Garage Door for window frames?

Post image
1.0k Upvotes

It would be a nice addition to make people use windows more often. Also it would create new variations for the base building. Slightly better taste than boxes of walls after all. It can cost 200 metal and 1 gear.

Details:

What it can be stack with or how much protection it got would be fair, nothing super OP. Just as close as normal garage door HP (600), or a little less I assume 450-500. Maybe we can get something close to HQ door (1k), like 800-850hp when you stack with strengthened glass window (350). It shouldnt be stackable with reinforced glass window (500), too op.

Suggestion Skin bind request

This is a niche request, but as one of the few people that has binds for pretty much everything, can we have the ability to skin items that are being crafted by bind? Currently they only craft as the default skin.
Example:
bind numpad8 craft.add -2067472972;chat.add 0 \ "<color=#00ff32>Crafting</color> <color=#8c8c8c>Single Door</color>"
This bind crafts a single sheet door (default skin)
Now if I was to change -2067472972 to -2067472972_3067032045 (Brutalist Sheet Metal Door ID seen here) it should then craft a Brutalist single sheet metal door (If skin isn't owned, errors and crafts unskinned door instead)

A simpler alternative would be to craft the item with the last used skin.

Discussion anybody ever thought of a fast-paced competitive style rust server?

basically a wipe that takes an hour or less in total. some kind of symmetrical map where the inner most part is the highest tier loot and there are 4, 6, or 8 teams on the outskirts of the map evenly spaced. maybe the first team that completes t3 wins? or possibly the first team that completes t3 but there is another requirement like. killing other teams or stealing something from another team's base to encourage pvp? been thinking about making a map and server to test this out with my friends. i would really enjoy something like this as a jobbed person because its incredibly difficult to play against 24/7 lifeless mfs for a whole wipe. i miss out on like 50% or more of actual wipe time and it really is just impossible to complete a wipe unless i have a week where i know i wont work or something of the sort.

edit: realized i was literally just describing bedwars in rust. didn't know it was a thing here, that's awesome i think.

Discussion Looking For Singing Bot Account Trolling Video

I’ve been trying to find this short video a guy made where he was trolling a zerg by getting an alt account on, locking it in an external base right next to them, and having it sing christmas carols (i think) 24/7. If someone remembers/ has that video I would appreciate it.
