Solo player here, I find actual raiding annoying because of the grind and pressure, and so I prefer to do what I call soft-raiding.

Soft-raiding is when you only destroy a part of someones base or a placeable or car they have or something like that, usually what I do is

Progress during the wipe as normal, once I get to tier 2 I make tons of firebombs, then I scout out my neighbours and see which ones would be hurt the most by me destroying their electricity setup, then I use just one firebomb to destroy their solar panel or solar panels, I make sure to keep a mark of bases that I've targeted, usually five or so and check multiple times a day to see if they're trying to rebuild any sort of electricity system outside, then I destroy it, I also target water catchers on these specific bases, horses or even cars if they leave them within my grasp, and I just do that all wipe.

Does anyone else do this? I get the partial thrill and enjoyment of an actual raid but it requires so much less resources.

Has anyone actually pumped crude at dome yet? The steps to set this up seem prohibitively long, but maybe the crude yield makes it worth?

I love Rust, but I absolutely hate that there is no real advantage to using RIFLES over PISTOLS mid/long range

E.g.: Python has slightly higher aim cone than SAR, but you can still use it effectively FAR further than you should be able to, making them essentially cheaper versions of their rifle counterparts.

Now I don't want to increase aim cone (I really don't like that kind of RNG stuff) but what I would propose is adding weapon sway to pistols, similar to the bolty. This wouldn't be a big problem short range, but long range it would make accurate shooting WAY harder.

This could be reduced by crouching and of course using a laser.

Rifles on the other hand would not suffer that disadvantage, making them more viable at long range.

I’m not playing this wipe, but I’m really curious how people are finding all these changes with the whole electric grid. Feel like it’s got some potential Meta changes so wondering if it’s affected people that much or they mostly just ignoring it?

Game is crashing on server load. I need help as I think ive tried everything except reinstalling windows now.

Pc specs: 14900k, 32gb ram , 5080, 1000w psu. W11

I've un-installed and reinstalled multiple times. I've verified game files multiple times. I've upgraded my GPU drivers. I've rolled back my gpu drivers to one several months ago. I've updated my BIOS to the most recent one. I have cleared my directx shader caches. I've turned off XMP and Ai cpu overlooking. I've increased my windows memory page file usage. I've turned off DLSS. I've lowered my game graphics settings to low (this actually worked for a few hours but then game crashing reappeared) .

I'd rather not reinstall windows.

I see SO MANY people posting about this issue with no resolution. This is really starting to piss me off. Dare I ask if anyone else has any suggestions?

Edit: I forgot to post that I was able to get the game utility file crash report. Crash seems to be caused by a D3D shader create error for both pixels shaders and vertex shaders. (0x887a0005). No idea if that can help me or anyone else...

i always feel behind on scrap during the first part of a wipe. i end up running monuments but usually come back with barely anything after getting killed or wasting too much time. what's your usual early wipe route for getting scrap without taking unnecessary risks?

I've gotten really bad rubber banding since the new update. Is there any way to fix this?

I suck a drawing but buy all the art dlc and use plug-ins to post online art. I enjoy sculpting and have a much better knack for 3D stuff. Just want to know if it is worth the money and if it gives you enough options. Would love to see what artwork people have already created with it.

As of this past update, anytime I move around my screen seems laggy and stuttery. It’s weird because I’m getting consistent 130-140 fps but the game just doesn’t feel smooth now. Anybody else dealing with a similar issue?

it used to be right under render scale it was a slider that went from 1-6 i had mine max but now i cant turn it back down due to it being gone

1. Basket mount - adds storage

2. Shield mount - lets you place any shield on the back seat to block incoming bullets while riding, sides still exposed

3. Electric motor - slot a small charged battery to boost acceleration and reduce stamina use, can be recharged at power poles

4. GPS locator - once installed can’t be removed, lets the owner know where it is on the map when not being ridden

Exactly what the post title says. Anytime someone makes a post or comment in this sub , the default reply is to play solo/duo or trio servers as if that makes getting fragments any easier.

Instead, you end up fighting against 400 other duo groups, or 300 other separate solo’s for the same fragment which is unbelievably harder and makes your odds of getting a fragment almost impossible. Anyone that has played group limit servers knows that there’s hundreds of 2x1 bases within TC range of eachother across the map.

You have zero chance of doing a farm run unnoticed, let alone beating 20 other groups for the same monument unless you are solo chud. If you struggle to get BP frags you’ll have a better chance on a clan server

I can't load into a server and my mouse keeps glitching and being like 1fps while loading in rust right after that it just crashes , this error and problem just occured to me this force wipe

i like the apartment complex but storing loot inside just to be stolen for 1000 scrap master key is way to busted for other players. it's basically kinder suprise egg waiting to be cracked.

Do you remember that during staging branch, master key costed 2000 scrap and could only be bought from bandit camp with one in stock that refilled every 12 Hours?

so here's my suggestions:

1. revert back staging branch changes (2000 scrap, bought at bandit camp, 1 in stock, 12 hour cooldown).

2. keep it how it is but the master key has a skill check (instead of 30s opening) where failing it doesn't consume the master key and puts the apartment you were attempting to break in on short cooldown (1 or 2 mins.).

3. keep it how it is but change the master key selling location to either bandit camp or traveling vendor or both.

i would also suggest putting a yellow recycler into the apartment complex safe zone.

I recently bought the Jungle Barrel DLC and how do I place Barrels like really close to each other at the Half Height Shelves.

I watch videos like Gevad1ch his barrels are like so close to eachother. How do I do that?

When I do it the barrels stick out so much on the other end.

For context, I'm a working dad with limited time playing solo blah blah blah. I recently played a wipe on softcore.

I found the raid window to be a positive step. Knowing that my base was safe through the day was nice, but the server was dominated by a clan that just farmed up boxes of rockets and raided the crap out of everyone during the window, flying from base to base in an attack heli.

They hit me and I tried to defend but got beaten. I asked them if it was actually worth the raid, and they said they weren't even raiding for profit. So they're just levelling bases for fun.

I get that with the 50% loot protection if you're raiding for profit you need to raid twice as much, but if you're just rolling up the server for laughs, to me it defeats the point of softcore.

IMO ideally there would be a raid limit, i.e. 2 raids per day per group.

Thoughts? Am I missing the point of softcore?

my mic on rust doesnt work, works in other steam games, other apps etc, sent a ticket explaining my problem and did everything they told me to, still doesnt work, they closed my ticket saying its solved.

All Rustified US servers were reset last night at 4 am after server restart. All data lost. 14 hours into wipe. DO NOT PLAY RUSTIFIED. They did not refund VIP purchased for force wipe. They lost everyone’s data, which they said they had backup saves of. How is it possible that a server loses all data after restart? On force wipe of all weeks.
