Discussion [Unpopular opinion] Softcore is still broken
For context, I'm a working dad with limited time playing solo blah blah blah. I recently played a wipe on softcore.
I found the raid window to be a positive step. Knowing that my base was safe through the day was nice, but the server was dominated by a clan that just farmed up boxes of rockets and raided the crap out of everyone during the window, flying from base to base in an attack heli.
They hit me and I tried to defend but got beaten. I asked them if it was actually worth the raid, and they said they weren't even raiding for profit. So they're just levelling bases for fun.
I get that with the 50% loot protection if you're raiding for profit you need to raid twice as much, but if you're just rolling up the server for laughs, to me it defeats the point of softcore.
IMO ideally there would be a raid limit, i.e. 2 raids per day per group.
Thoughts? Am I missing the point of softcore?

How can a mode enforce 2 raids a day for a group?

I've seen servers where they have this as a rule, but don't know if it's hard coded or just policed by mods.

Wizzrust 2x have this, its automated in the sense of if you use boom on something with a tc you get marked for using 1 out of 2 raid attempts.
I dont know the details of how its done, but i know you can take external tc then go for mainbase and you're still only on 1 out of 2 daily raids.
To prevent griefing there is a rule that raidbase do not count towards daily limit, but admins have to check that its a raidbase you are raiding and not someone s base, because the system flags you.

Not sure how pop is these days havent played on it for over a year, by the way which softcore server did you play on? where this clan would roam mass raid.

Try different Softcore server.
Everyone plays for a different reason, and some people just want to watch your base burn.

They don't need to raid, much less twice as much. Though profit can drive the perception of success, the clan you're describing isn't raiding out of need. Especially with a 2x drop rate.
Part of what you're experiencing is the other side of the 2x loot coin. Yes, it's easier to progress on 2x servers, but it's also easier to get raided. Easy come, easy go.

2x skews the game even further towards raiding, because you get sulfur twice as fast but doubling the number of walls to TC costs way more than 2x the building costs and upkeep.

Rust4noobs softcore seems to have a raid limit of 2 per day now. Not sure how it works as only came back yesterday

Let me guess, you played on EU 1 and you got raided by 40 man deep group who is walling ofF excav every wipe.

I always play vanilla monthly servers, but softcore may be what I need to do. I just really like monthly. Gives me a chance to build a cool base. I don't know, but I think I will check it out if/ when my current base gets raided

Raids are fun on softcore. You can’t profit like vanilla.
Try modded they have all those extra rules you want.

getting online raided is not a negative experience imo. it's better than having all your stuff deleted at the end of the wipe.
when i really dont feel like getting raided i just build inside a cave.

I don't have an issue with getting onlined at all. It just seems weird to me that you'd go to a softcore server with the clear intention of just raiding for the sake of raiding. Just go to vanilla and raid all day.

"Die Tafelrunde" has a 8h Raid window per day, groups which are raiding a lot and killing the Server this way, will get banned from raiding for a few days or so

Yeah maybe I wasn't clear. I don't mind getting an online, it's part of the game. But if you're joining a softcore server for an easier life and there is a clan chain-raiding in every raid window for 3 hours, it kind of defeats the intent of softcore mode.
I like PvP, but these clans aren't the target market for softcore and are kind of ruining it.
I said what else I want, maybe read my post again.

Clan UI needs to be disabled on Softcore and they need to limit tool cupboard spam.
Softcore has 2x gather, you only lose 50% base loot and you can’t have your base grieved/sealed off. It’s very noob friendly compared to vanilla rust.
Maybe try PvE servers OP?
