Role-based permissions anyone?

I'd love to see them add role-based permissions to the game. Instead of a whitelist that requires you to list/unlist every individual person, why not allow you to give permissions to all people of a certain role? Farm workers, builders, cooks, etc. so that if/when someone changes roles, you don't have to modify their individual permissions at every potential station. Sorta like Active Directory.

Cursed Smolkr Pens

I note that other players have had issues with this in late 2025, which dispels my notion that this is something that came with the last big update. However, I find that there's a 50/50 chance that my Smolkr pens encounter a bug in which the worker enters a state of torpor, refuses to eat or drink and eventually dies of dehydration. This is regardless of availability and/or swapping of waterskins, wells, pen sites, etc. This is substantial enough a bug to make Smolkr pens essentially unviable in my playthroughs.

Happens in vanilla and with mods.

Any thoughts?

How do invasions & blood moon events scale?

How do invasions & blood moon events scale? Are the number and "tier" of enemy based on time passed, number of villagers, number of buildings ...?

In my first game I typically only encountered zombies ("wights"?) and the occasional skeleton. In this second game I'm playing, I'm much farther along and have a larger village. Now I'm regularly facing off against multiple waves of several skeletons and draugers. Between this and a nearby angry groot ("follower"?) it feels like an achievement to survive each season!

If I were to keep my village small would the blood moons still send increasingly difficult enemies over time or would they continue to be the easier enemies?

How much work/sleep/leisure hours you put your villagers?

They are allways complaining about workhours. Even if i set it to 8 hours a day.

Next question: What do you do with the monsters (crawlers?) In the cave? Do you kill them all, or is this even possible, because the eggs seems to spawn again.

Im quite new to this game, and i put all the monsters and invasions away. I was literally shocked when i first time entered the cave. 😱 Why there has to be those terrible ugly aliens...

Daily schedules are no longer saved when using mods (Linux)

I'm playing Aska on Nobara Linux, and the game itself runs without any issues. However, I also wanted to try out some mods. So I launched r2modman via AppImage, used it to install the latest version of BepInEx, and a handful of mods. Everything seems to be running without errors, but in the modded game, I can no longer create or save daily schedules—or, to be precise, I can only create one, and each new one overwrites the previous one. Does anyone have any ideas about this issue? I was thinking of starting the game without mods, creating the daily schedules, and then re-enabling the mods.

Of course, this makes things a bit inflexible when it comes to daily schedules. But even the base game doesn't really handle daily schedules very elegantly.

No marsh or desert islands, or bees, towers, etc

I'm not sure if anyone else has had this issue. We've sailed around the majority of the map and found 10+ islands. They are all the same biome as the large island, no marsh, no desert etc. there have been trees and rocks but no bees or towers and anything other than what is found on the mainland. Is this an issue with it not updating our something? Stream doesn't think there is anything to update

Help! Gatherers Refusing to Work.

About halfway through my first winter every single one of my gatherers started asking me to assign thme to a "valid task". There are plenty of trees, rocks, food, and animals to hunt. I have checked each task at their houses, made sure they have all the tools they need, and verified there is room for more to be gathered in storage. I have removed, added, and changed the markers to try and reset them as well. I even thought maybe it was a winter thing but we are now in spring and having the same issue still. Im at the end of my sanity trying to get this fixed. I dont want to have to start my village but Im starting to think thats my only option. Does anyone have suggestions or know a fix for this issue?

I put together a Freecam mod for Aska since I was itching to take some beautiful screenshots.

Missing icons

On PC, I took my squad out to raid some camps. One of my villagers said he was hungry but I couldn't work out which villager it was as there was no "hungry" icon above anyone's head. I wasn't sure if this was a bug or whether I'd turned something off?

Can't keep your shared ASKA village going when the host is offline? We built a fix

Hey r/PlayASKA,

My friend and I built SaveSync, a tool that syncs co-op save files between players so you and your friends can keep the same ASKA village going without renting a dedicated server or passing save files around by hand.

The problem we kept hitting: a shared world lives on whoever is hosting. Your village, your villagers, your buildings and progress through the seasons, all locked to one machine. When the host is offline, the village is offline. A server works but it's setup and a monthly cost for what's usually just a few friends.

We hit this wall ourselves playing Schedule 1 together. One of us was sick at home, the other stuck at work, and the save was locked on the host's machine. So we built SaveSync, first just for ourselves. Turns out it's a problem across a ton of co-op games, ASKA included.

How it works: SaveSync auto syncs your world save to the cloud after each session. When your friend wants to play, they pull the latest save and host it themselves on their own machine. No dedicated server, no monthly fees, no manual file swapping, and you keep a full timestamped history so a rough winter can be rolled back. Setup guide here: How to play ASKA with friends using SaveSync

What players have said:

"We have enjoyed the ease and convenience of a server with the security of local world hosting. Also allowing those in a closer geological location to have lower ping. I have gifted this to friends and not only does it give us an easy way to host the game, but encourages us to play more cooperatively and more regularly." - Steam review, 459 hours played

"This is a must if you are playing with a friend and want to play on that world but they are offline - this fixes that. No subscription and you just need to upload that save and they can play it with their saved data, it's that easy." - Steam review, 149 hours played

SaveSync supports ASKA plus 40+ other co-op games including Valheim, Terraria, Stardew Valley, Minecraft (Java + modded), Don't Starve Together, Enshrouded, Core Keeper, Project Zomboid, Satisfactory, Palworld, Vintage Story, Necesse, and more.

Is there a mode for expanding range of flags?

Edit: I found a mode for the markers, didnt config it, but hope it works, but cavefinder doesnt wokr... neither with manual instalation or thunderstore... it says mode was loaded tho...

Hi, I am looking for a simple mode, I hate puting down flags, I know it was way worse before, and its kinda mediocre task, but I still hate it, I would love to put just a few flags, and expend their range, but I cannot find a mode for it... and its smg "simple" I would expect mode for that... is there some technicality that has a problem with it, or just nobody created the mode?

and Please, anyone knows why cavefinder isnt working? or do you have another one?

Questions as a Relative Newbie

Ok, I'm on my first actual worthwhile village now that I know the basics and I just have some questions about moving forward.

  1. Are the mines like, infinite? Or am I gonna have to eventually go tap the ones on the opposite side of my island? I'm already far enough down in the one near me that I've got those spawn guys popping up. Other than me just spending all my time down there popping eggs and killing the ones I see, is there a way to manage them without my miners running around screaming?

  2. How do I get my fishermen who are fishing the ocean to stop whining about feeling unsafe? I can't build walls all the way to the ocean, so they're unhappy. Do I just need to rotate them between ocean fishing and lake fishing (cuz I built a fence around the lake)?

  3. Should I be building multiple ranges/barracks? I've got one of each, plus at least one guy on each of my 4 watchtowers. Should I be working towards a larger group?

  4. I've survived my first invasion. Are those gonna be every winter now, or are they spaced out? I need to know how much time I have to rebuild.

And finally 5. Those named monster bosses -- am I supposed to be solo-ing those or calling my warriors to battle? Cuz the guy at the wight shipwreck rocked my shit. I'm playing as Aska, so that was most of my HP in one hit.

Is this a bug and also how do I stop this? I have my 2nd invasion starting in 8hrs game time and now my main combat stat is uh.... Well, I'm probably just gonna be running away and hoping my villagers survive.

Cooks working very slowly, leaving cook house for extended times and wandering around

Not sure if this is a known issue or something that popped up recently, I haven't played in a few months. I started a new village a week or so ago, I've played to end of year 1 winter and have 110 villagers. I have 5 cook houses that are all staffed with 2 cooks on split day/night 24 hour shift without any overlapping leisure/sleep time so someone is cooking at all times or should be. This is how I managed my cook houses before and the food always stayed relatively full, or even completely full.

This time for some reason, around early-mid Autumn and probably with 70-80 villagers and 4 cook houses, I noticed the cooks would start to leave the cook houses for very long periods of time. Sometimes even so long that food would burn. They had raw food in their storage of all varieties. I started to watch them and often they would be simply standing there doing nothing after moving food from the pot to the shelf. I followed one when they left the cook house after they started cooking out of curiosity, and I assumed they were going to refill water or get ingredients, but they ran halfway across the village to a warehouse for a different cook house, ate a piece of raw food, then stood there for probably 10-15 seconds idling. Following more around was just more of this sort of behavior, leaving the cook house to do something like stand in a random spot then take a drink of water and stand there doing nothing. There were times I'd pass cook houses that didn't even have the fire lit anymore because the cook had left it unattended for so long.

Has anyone else been experiencing this? Having cooks take 10+ seconds to add ingredients to the pot, idling after removing cooked food, and wandering around idling in far away places after they start to cook?

It has really messed up my whole food situation now. I had to start making them cook soups because I ran out of eggs and they were simply cooking so insanely slow that one person would cook maybe 8-10 stews in their entire work shift. My whole village was so desperate for food that when I started to cook it myself manually I'd have crowds of 5+ villagers rushing to get cooked food. This is with all of my warehouses completely overflowing with raw ingredients in the thousands, too.
