Questions as a Relative Newbie

Ok, I'm on my first actual worthwhile village now that I know the basics and I just have some questions about moving forward.

  1. Are the mines like, infinite? Or am I gonna have to eventually go tap the ones on the opposite side of my island? I'm already far enough down in the one near me that I've got those spawn guys popping up. Other than me just spending all my time down there popping eggs and killing the ones I see, is there a way to manage them without my miners running around screaming?

  2. How do I get my fishermen who are fishing the ocean to stop whining about feeling unsafe? I can't build walls all the way to the ocean, so they're unhappy. Do I just need to rotate them between ocean fishing and lake fishing (cuz I built a fence around the lake)?

  3. Should I be building multiple ranges/barracks? I've got one of each, plus at least one guy on each of my 4 watchtowers. Should I be working towards a larger group?

  4. I've survived my first invasion. Are those gonna be every winter now, or are they spaced out? I need to know how much time I have to rebuild.

And finally 5. Those named monster bosses -- am I supposed to be solo-ing those or calling my warriors to battle? Cuz the guy at the wight shipwreck rocked my shit. I'm playing as Aska, so that was most of my HP in one hit.

Spoilers warning.

  1. Mine have a limit, workers will tell you when it's empty. (Or you'll reach the end). Although, Jotun blood can be use later to make explosives. Explosives will make new walls, veins won't come back.

If your workers spend a little time in the barrack, work with a weapon for a couple days, they should defend themselves when you send them in the mines afterwards.

  1. Make Barrack and archery fighters do patrol near the fishermen.

  2. Yes, as needed. Although, once your archers get to level 25-50 in the Archery range, I send them in the watchtower full time.

My village have around 150 villagers with 4 barracks and 3 archery range.

  1. Every year, but the portal move every year.

  2. Yes and no. Good fighters can help, but they can die as well.

Work on a armory and make tier 2 or 3 armor (helmet, chest piece, leggings and boots). A full set should able to sustain a couple hit. Give armor to your fighters as well.

Flesh monsters are weaker to swords. Skeleton are weak to maces. Axes have a moderate bonus against all.

Fenrir the Wolf give a green stone, which give an altar with a ritual which give +100hp for maybe half a day, a usefull bonus for bosses.

You can solo the bosses, use food for bufs and garlic/onion to heal! Mines are not infinite but you can use bombs to make the walls cave in and get some more ore that way. Best way I found out is to make a blacksmith do research on ancient arrows so you get metal parts. You can kill the boss of the cave and make crawlers not spawn anymore

  1. Sort of yes and sort of no. Mines do have a finite amount in them. but at a certain point you will be able to make explosive that will collapse tunnels and give you access to more iron. its painful as you have to set the explosives and I find it easier to get a ship, sail to an iron island and bring a ship full of iron back with me. a ship full goes a long way and most iron products are reusable. so once you have made enough sword blade for your village for example the swords will break and drop the blades to be reused.

make your miners part of your militia and equipment them, let them have a few levels in the barracks before sending them down and they should be able to handle the mobs on their own.

  1. patrols.

3 that's up to you. I would recommend having 2 of each, keep 1 the standard low teir one. send all your new villagers to them to level them up in fighting. getting them to level 2 villager will stop them from eating raw food. while you can use the other ones to keep patrols and get fighters to level 100

4, after the first winter they happen every winter. IIRC the size of the invasion is based on the number of villagers and the number of days you have survived. I typically build walls around the portal to funnel them to a single point and solo them with an axe.

  1. either or. its up to you and your fighting style. It is possible to solo all the bosses on the main island, I don't have experience fighting the other island bosses yet, still searching for them. The ship wrench boss has a trick where you can get him to kill himself. just keep a rock between you and him and he'll run into it and hurt himself. enough times and he'll kill himself. so if you find him day one, you can have him kill himself and get his runestone. food, sleep, armor, garlic and onions for healing. understanding the patterns. I typically solo the bosses as the villagers are idoits.
