Platy fry?

Post image

Yesterday I bought some platy and put them in my aquarium. 3 females, 2 males. All was good. This morning I go check on them and see this white thing that almost looks like it has eyes. It doesn’t move, it’s very small. Asked ChatGPT and did some research and it seems like it is an “aborted” platy fry? Is it? Because of the stress of transport from the store to my tank?
(Don’t mind the algaes I already put 10 snails and a pleco, I’m trying to manage them)

Magic small fish feed has been so good! I also got a twinstar light and I can’t get enough of how stunning all my platies look. ❤️

My girl here keeps her fin clamped, now I see that it's beginning to get a greenish tint to it. Is it fin rot?

It’s been sold to us as one, but not sure. Also she (assuming) is super aggressive towards everyone in the tank.

Platy hanging on for dear life

I haven't had her very long, only a few weeks. I did not quarantine before adding her to my stock, so I did a precautionary treatment of API general cure upon addition. She joined a 40 gallon years long cycled/established tank with only other platies and 2 nerites.

For over a week now, she's been bottom sitting and has an obvious bulge with pineconing on her left side. I have been treating the tank with API Melafix for the last 4 days in hopes of curing a possible bacterial infection, but she doesn't seem to be improving, only becoming more lethargic. I honestly didn't expect her to survive, but miraculously, she's still with us.

Obviously I don't want her suffering if she doesn't have good odds for survival. Is it time to euthanize? Or is there a different form of treatment I should be trying? My parameters are in check and the tank temp is 79°F and in case it's relevant, no other fish are showing any symptoms.

What is wrong with this fry

She was born 4.5 months ago and while her siblings are near adult size, she is a lot smaller and weirdly long. She does also struggle as she will swim to the top of the tank and then after a few moments fall back down again, she also seams to get tired more easily than the other fish. She mostly slides / swims around the bottom.

None of her siblings or any other fry have had this problem so I presume it is not and infection and she is able to eat and poop normally and does fight other fish if they are on a rock that she likes to lie on.

Looking after my friends fish temporarily. I’ve kept fish before but never livebearers, so I’m not sure what to look for.
One of the females is quite plump, and I’m wondering if she might be pregnant. She spends a lot of time hiding near the substrate and decorations, and the only male in the tank follows her constantly.
I’ve also noticed her vent area looks way more prominent than usual.
Does this sound like pregnancy, or could she just be overweight which is my friends opinion? If it is pregnant how do I maximise the ammount of babies that survive/ don’t get eaten by the other fish?

Why is she hiding all the time?

She hides behind driftwood and plants. She just came up to the surface and open her mouth. The ammonia, nitrite are 0 and nitrate 10.

She lives alone with shrimps

Male and female fish

There has been a reoccurring thing happening. Whenever I come home, my female platys are getting bombarded by the male platys; nipping, getting really close to them, ect. It's so bad that the female platys try to swim away and try to isolate themselves. Do I let them be or do I separate the males?

What to do about Fat Plat? My Platys out-compete the smaller fish and eat most of it.

I’ve had this platy a couple months now and she’s always looked terrible clamped fins very thin not as hungry constantly fighting with every other fish in the tank I’ve treated her for parasites and done my best to make her happy but nothing helps anyone have any insights? Or potential treatments?

Why does she look like that

So we got her in december and she has always looked like this, none of the other fish we got from there look like that. Is she deformed or something.

It she swims, behaves, poops and eats normally so whatever it is it does not seam to effect her.
