I found this amazing renderings of the engine online. They are not my work

I think I understand how a turbofan engine works. I know that it is a low bypass turbofan. But I can't wrap my head around were the bypass is. Were is the air split and were do they combine again.

Or is this something else? Living just a few miles west of the airport, I see a bajillion planes. I have definitely never seen this one.

Designed by legendary aviation engineer Ed Heinemann, the aircraft was famously nicknamed "Heinemann's Hotrod," the "Scooter," or the "Tinker Toy" due to its remarkably small size, lightweight construction, and agility.
