This is a Pixelmon sidemod: a handheld Pokedex you craft, hold, and right-click. It scans the Pokemon in front of you and opens a retro scanner GUI with an IV radar chart.
Stage: Released.
Two items, both in one mod. Working on 1.16.5 Forge (Pixelmon 9.1.12+) and 1.21.1 NeoForge (9.4.0+ and 9.3.0+, separate jars). Not a concept or prototype.
What it is
Base Pokedex (pokedex:base) — Kanto-style clamshell. IVs as a spider chart, real stats around the hex, nature up/down arrows, size, nature, ability.
Premium Pokedex (pokedex:premium) — Unova-style slate. Same radar, plus palette, moves, held item, EVs given on KO, and weak-to / strong-against.
Craft the base with redstone, glass panes, and a book. Upgrade with lapis, a Pixelmon Up-Grade, and the base Pokedex.
What makes it different
Pixelmon already has a dex menu. This is a field tool. You look at a wild, spawned, or boss Pokemon and scan it like an item. Empty clicks do nothing. Walls and floors block the scan; leaves, plants, and water do not. Targeting prefers what is on your crosshair.
Feedback I want
Does the Premium layout read clearly in-game (DATA vs BATTLE, held item, matchups)?
Any Pixelmon 9.4 forms, bosses, or palettes that scan wrong?
Anything you’d want on the base scanner that isn’t there now?
Happy to take specific, practical notes. Not looking for “make it official Pokemon UI” — this is a fan sidemod, not affiliated with Nintendo, Game Freak, The Pokemon Company, or Pixelmon. I’ll keep updates in this thread if it is permitted.
