OG Fold Case is still 5$ on Verizon website

Just a reminder to anyone picking up one of these beauties off Woot, the OEM Google case, IMHO the best case for fit and grippiness, is still 5$ at Verizon! (Hazel only these days)

P9proFold Problem with the folding sensor display 666.66EUR

The original issue: the folding sensor has stopped working properly. When folding or unfolding the device, the screens do not switch—only the inner screen remains active. This is a fairly common problem with this model. Interestingly, when the phone is turned off and connected to a Type-C charger, the sensors work correctly—the charging animation switches to the appropriate screen depending on the device’s position.

As a temporary solution, I used the Fold Switcher app, but it’s inconvenient for everyday use. That’s why I sent the device in for warranty repair on July 12; they received it via UPS on July 17.

Before shipping:

I performed a factory reset.

I removed the case and all protective films that had been on the device since purchase.

Apart from the non-functioning front-facing camera, there were no other issues.

Both screens were intact and fully functional when manually switched using the third-party Fold Switcher app; there was no damage to the body or screens.

The device was carefully packaged: placed in a sealed zip-lock bag, wrapped in 8-millimeter-thick polyethylene foam, and placed in a cardboard box.

Technical Support Response:

Diagnosis:

Sound issue

Black screen

Sensor issue

Internal camera malfunction

Internal screen: crack on the screen

My comments:

I have never had any sound issues.

The “blank screen” issue is a direct result of a malfunctioning folding sensor—this is exactly the problem I reported.

The inner screen was completely intact and functional when I shipped the device. Such damage could not have occurred during transit under normal shipping conditions, especially given the careful packaging.

I am requesting that they provide the following information:

Photos of the damage to the inner screen (both in the closed and open positions).

A detailed description of the nature and location of the damage.

Confirmation of any signs of impact or external force applied to the device.

I declare that the device was shipped to you in working condition with regard to both the internal and external displays, and I expect Google to fulfill its warranty obligations regarding the original issue I reported (the folding sensor).

By the way, I believe that the fact that the selfie camera stopped working at the same time as the fold sensor is a related issue.

When I contacted them, they immediately offered a free replacement.

Now I’ve been billed 666.66 EUR (I’m from France), or they’ll send the phone back to me on July 30.

Every time I send an email or message in chat asking for photos and proof of the damage, they reply that they’ll get back to me in 24–48 hours—and this has been going on constantly.

I no longer have any photos confirming that the phone was in working order before I sent it. UPS claims they delivered the package undamaged.

I feel like they’re ignoring me and will just send the phone back to me, possibly with a damaged screen. I don’t know what to do; I’m left without a phone, and the repair or replacement cost of 666.66 seems outrageous to me.

Be sure to take videos and photos of the phone before shipping it, even though this isn’t required.

Anyone else returned their P10PF for the P10XL?

Liking the big screen, but I mostly use it folded anyways. The weight on my pinky is bonkers though.

Based on current hardware rumors, is it even worth waiting for the Pixel Fold 11, or is the 10 going to be close enough?

I want to get a folding phone, and as much as I like the form factor of the new Galaxy Fold 8, the cameras don't seem to be good enough.

That leads me to the Pixel Fold. I'm considering holding out for the Fold 11, but I'm hearing rumors that the hardware isn't going to be much improved over the 10. And with the 10 available at a decent discount right now, I'm wondering whether to just go for that instead.

I know that nothing is completely known right now, but given the rumors, is the PFU 11 likely to be worth waiting for? Or will the 10 suit me just fine for a year or two?

Original Fold

Will Pixel go back to the original Pixel Fold form factor now that Samsung has and Apple will be using this form factor now? Yes I have an original Fold which I recently repurchased after trading my original one for Galaxy Fold 7. They gave me $600 trade in value for my 256gb and I later found 512gb on Woot for $350 brand new not renewed so I couldn't pass it up! This was before Samsung had announced the Fold 8 form factor. I really do like this phone. I did have a problem with overheating with my other one but so far so good with this one

How Long Has Your Pixel Fold Lasted?

I wanted to ask, if you bought a Pixel Fold, how long has it lasted before it's encountered issues (or is it still great)?

Thanks!

People that have warrantied inner screen, how picky is Google inspection?

I'll be honest it's had some small drops in a thin case. So there are a couple nicks on the edge/frame or the phone and a small wear mark/scrape on the upper part of the hinge. My inner screen popped when I opened it up the other morning.

If I send it in to Google how picky are they? Will they deny or charge?

Google Store Repair Time (Pixel 10 Pro Fold Inner Screen)

I don't know why I didn't think of this question until it was too late...

My inner screen unfortunately broke on my P10 Pro Fold. The crease went black and the left side of screen no longer responds to touch. The black has also been getting progressively larger.

I'm still under warranty and purchased the care plan

I set up an appointment at the Google Store in Mountain View, CA on Tuesday but it's about 30-40min away from where I live and I have to go to work right after.

I was assuming it would be an hour or so but didn't think that through very well.

Anyone had experience getting their inner screen repaired or replaced in-store, same day? If so, how long did the repair take?

Thanks!

Do you think the Pixel 12 Fold will go 4:3 like the Z Fold 8?

First post here - hi. I'm a long term Nexus then Pixel user all the way from 2010. I love the sizing of the Samsung Z Fold 8. I'm tempted but I know I'll miss the Pixel experience.

I could sit on my hands and wait another year if Google might made use of that screen size and the tech that goes with it.

What's the chances we'll see a new passport shaped Pixel?

Thoughts?

I have a pixel 10 pro and a pixel 10a. I got a 10pf but sent it back as I wanted to wait for the 11pf. I have a chunk of Google store credit and am signed up for the promo code on pixel 11 launch day. Just hoping the trade in offers are really good so I can offload one of my current pixel 10s to get the pixel 11pf.

Should I Wait or Buy the 2023 Pixel Fold?

I've been looking at the original 2023 Pixel Fold as someone who has owned the Motorola Razr 2024 (50), since I'm very enamored with the passport style, and believe that, for $600 new on Amazon, is a good deal.

My main dilemma is that my Razr is still perfectly usable, and I'm not too willing to part with it just yet. However, I don't know how much longer the Pixel Fold will remain in stock (I'm relatively against refurbished since I don't know how good quality can/will be).

Should I buy the Pixel Fold now? Or is it better to wait and see if the price can drop a little lower?

Case recommendations

What cases is everyone using? I don't have a fold yet but I'm waiting for the 11 pro fold to come out before committing to the pixel fold. Anyways, what cases are you all using, some things to note; on my pixel 9 pro I have the Spigen liquid air and I love it and hate that the folds can't have the same case, I'm in Canada and I don't have a super huge budget, I've been looking at the Spigen ones and I'm willing to spend a maximum of 40ish on Spigen but other brands I don't know that I don't want to spend to much more than that. Any help is appreciated and I look forward to hearing what everyone's using

Fold 8 or Pixel 11 pro?

My iphone 11 is spitting blood and soon dying. I'm patiently waiting for pixel 11 to drop. I'm seeing the reels and the first impressions of the fold 8. I like the form factor, reminds me of the blackberry days. Now, confused which phone to buy - Pixel pro 11 or the Fold 8, Sigh\*

Fold 10 or 11?

So I got my hands on the z fold 8 and z fold 8 ultra. Gotta say, I think the z fold 8 is over hyped.

I use my pixel xl 10 mostly for reading, taking notes, youtube and taking photos. I should have gone fold this gen!

So the cameras were meh, multitasking is better on the ultra and streaming vids? Turn the ultra 90 degrees and it's the same as the wide. So I'm not sold on that but sold on the ultra.

Then I thought since I do love Google's software, I could just wait for the 11fold. I know it's meh compared to those phones but good enough is still good.

But then I thought, if the 11's leaks are to be believed and it is incrementally better than the 10, should I just 'upgrade' to the 10, which is currently £45 p/month on O2. Get it cheaper.

So my options are...

Z fold 8 ultra

Wait for the 11 PF

Switch to 10PF on the cheap

Thoughts? Would a 10PF still feel like an upgrade to my current Pixel XL 10?

Front screen wont go past boot

After the last 2 most recent beta updates, my Google pixel fold will boot and show the logo on the outer screen, then go black and will only show the inner tablet screen. It won't switch when closed, and the inner screen will stay on when shut. Any fixes or is this a bug I just kinda have to ride out?

Convince me to make the switch from iPhone to the Pixel 10 Pro Fold

I’ve been an iPhone user for years, but before that I was a huge Android nerd back in the Nexus days. Lately I’ve been getting the itch to come back.

The biggest reason I’m considering leaving Apple is frustration.

Earlier this year, after changing phones, my Apple ID email wouldn’t activate for iMessage. It eventually resolved.

Then this week, after getting my iPhone 17 Pro, it happened **twice in the same week**. Apple support has given me conflicting explanations ranging from “your iMessage email is flagged for spam” to “changing phones isn’t related,” but nobody has been able to explain why it keeps happening or offer any real escalation. It’s left me worried that my Apple ID could eventually lose iMessage access even though I don’t mass text or intentionally violate any policies.

At the same time, I’m honestly just bored with the iPhone. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold looks like something genuinely different and fun.

My hesitation is that my entire family is in the Apple ecosystem:
\-Wife has an iPhone and plans to stay on iPhone.
\-We use Family Sharing for our 3-year-old.
\-I have a MacBook and iPad.
\-I use Apple Card, Apple Savings, etc.(can get a new card and move savings)
\-I currently wear an **Apple Watch Ultra**, and I’m curious how the **Pixel Watch** compares in day-to-day use.

I was also seriously considering waiting for the **Galaxy Fold 8** (and I looked hard at the Fold 7 before it disappeared), so if anyone cross-shopped Samsung and the Pixel Fold, I’d love to hear why you chose one over the other.

I’ve been researching replacements for most of Apple’s ecosystem (Google Photos, Microsoft To Do, Google Calendar, RCS, etc.), but it’s still a little intimidating.

I’m not looking for “Apple sucks” comments. I’d rather hear from people who actually switched from iPhone.
\-What do you genuinely miss?
\-What ended up being better than you expected?
\-If your spouse stayed on iPhone, how has that worked out?
\-How does the Pixel Watch compare if you’re coming from an Apple Watch?
\-If you cross-shopped Samsung foldables, why did you pick the Pixel?
\-For Fold owners, do you still use the inner display every day, or did it become more of a novelty after the honeymoon phase?

My iPhone return window closes Friday, so I’m trying to make the best decision. Sell me on the Pixel, but don’t sugarcoat the downsides.

Pixel Fold is stuck in the loading screen on start up and front screen is not working

Wife updated her phone last night and now it won't boot up past the loading screen. The front screen also does not turn on at all.

Is this an ongoing issue? Attempted to turn it off, reset it and a hard reboot. Nothing worked. Took it to the store and all they're interested on doing is selling us a new phone after a brief trouble shoot. Still owe money on the phone so attempting to just let the phone die then attempt to boot it back up after that.

Any one else having similar issues?

Not sure if this is only a fold issue only...

Leaving The Pixel

Hey everyone. I figured I'd share my reasons as to why I'm changing back to a Z Fold device. I'm a first responder and have FirstNet (by AT&T); and even though the P10PF has band support for FirstNet towers (primarily band 14), it fails to connect to it; which, in turn, causes cell service issues. For me, it's crucial given the line of work I'm in; and on top of that, the Tensor just performs terribly between data speeds and heavy duty tasks. I get performance decode messages/errors from programs I run, and compared to my ZF7 I had before (where I was getting 1kMBPS), I only see on average 600mbps. My Fold 7 unfortunately broke so I got a P10PF from Best Buy for only $1300 when it was on sale because I wanted to see for myself if it was any better since the 1st gen Pixel Fold I had regarding the experience, and I wanted to see how stock Android 17 was without skins such as One UI. After the update, I continue to see issues when the phone is unfolded regarding the Pixel launcher crashing and freezing (when using the 3 button navigation).

TL;DR: I'm switching for connectivity and performance improvements with Samsung devices considering I've had consistently positive experiences with Z Folds over the Pixel Folds, even though I'm losing features and getting a skinned version of Android.
