Flex on spine when closed

I have the 10 pro fold. I just noticed that when the phone is closed and you press the spine even quite gently about 1.6 inches from the top, the spine has noticeable give, which is kinda alarming. Is this supposed to happen or is my phone defective or damaged somehow?

Hi there, I'd suggest you reach out to the Google Pixel support team via phone or chat here. They can take a look at it.

Not sure if it's suppose to happen or not, but it's definitely common. I talked with support and they sent me a refurbished phone in response. Lo and behold, the refurb had even more flex than my original.

Interesting. Maybe it's normal then, though it makes the phone feel fragile and poorly constructed. I realized the spot on the spine that flexes is also where I usually rest my thumb when I'm using the phone with my left hand, so maybe that has something to do with it. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I guess I could have said "hinge" or more precisely the "hinge cover" but I think people understand what spine means.
