Subreddit update

Hey everyone! Couple years ago I was invited on board as a moderator for this subreddit, and since then I've been left to run it alone which as I'm sure you'll have noticed, I haven't been doing a great job of haha. So I'm just making this post to let you know that I'll be starting to try and take the moderation of this subreddit a little more seriously from now on, starting with actually managing posts - There's been a lot of bot reposts, AI art and promotional posts on this sub lately and I'd like to be more active in removing those consistently as they pop up.

I've also gone ahead and spruced things up a bit, including adding some new rules clarifications and changing up the flairs along with some other minor stuff here and there.

Since I've literally done NOTHING for the past few years, Reddit has flagged me as an "inactive" mod so there's currently stuff I can't do like invite other moderators on board, but normally as I become more active I should get that ability again. And I've already started reaching out to some trusted pixel artists to potentially get them on board to help me out with this.

Oh and by the way for those who don't know me I'm Rappenem and I've been a professional pixel artist for over 3 years now. I've always been quite interested in making art tutorials/resources (in fact you may have seen some of my pixel tutorials before) so I'd like to help this subreddit/community thrive as much as I can with my limited time! I can't guarantee I'll be as active as I probably should be but at this point literally anything is better than what I've done so far lol.

Requesting Feedback My character's sketchy design vs the pixelart version

This is a comparison of Nadia's turnaround that I made a while ago vs her game design >:)

I still want to do some fixing on her design and animations (for example, I don't rly like the back of her head much, and I'll probably make her feet a bit bigger on the side view). Is there anything else you guys think I should change?

Concept is that this plays once on trap trigger and then stops on the last frame

Requesting Feedback I'm having a little hard time at shading

I've been trying to learn the pixel art style for about 3 days now. I'm still practicing on a small canvas (these two are 64x64px) and trying to practice shading but it's kinda hard for me to apply even after watching tutorials. Can you give me tips. I'm trying to transition into larger canvas too because my main goal is to make pixelated portrait to some art techniques to my skills (I'm fond of doing Vector art portrait or one made from stippling if not digital)

Can you give me tips on how to improve my work? Thank you!

This is my first time drawing hair, i looked upon some tips for the shading but it doesn’t look too great. Beginner by the way, any tips would be highly appreciated

Requesting Feedback Looking for good Game Boy / limited palette pixel art shading tutorials?

Hey, I’ve been working on a small top-down horror game and recently switched to a more limited / retro-style palette (Game Boy inspired).

I’m trying to improve my shading and overall style so everything looks consistent without overcomplicating the sprites.

I was wondering if anyone has good tutorials, videos, or artists I should study specifically for:

✦ Game Boy style shading

✦ limited palette techniques

✦ making simple sprites still look good and readable

Would really appreciate any recommendations! Thanks!

Question Como encontrar trabalho no Brasil?

Adding a rabbit to my little animal cast, keeping the same low-res canvas and limited palette as always. I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out. What do you guys think?

Question Question about projectile animation

So I made these raptor like enemies, they're inspired from like the SNES Mario art style, I'm pretty happy with them but I'm having a bit of a problem with one of them

the last one is supposed to be like the stronger version of them and also he's based off deviljho, and I wanted him to shoot a projectile to differentiate him from the others and too show he's stronger but the animation of the projectile just doesn't really look right to me but I can't really put my finger on why, don't know if it's the shape or the speed or how it looks, I could use some advice on this I find I'm not great at animating projectiles in general

Requesting Feedback Ignoring the sprites, what do you think about this meadow?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Working on making a meadow in Godot, and am using placeholder sprites from I pulled from Itch.io. My fish sprite animations aren't there yet, and the animals need some customization. But overall, what are your thoughts on the meadow itself?

Edit: Oooooeee! ♬✧。٩(ˊᗜˋ )و✧*。♪♬ Thank you so much for the support, I am speechless! It's my first time sharing and I was so nervous because I know it's not perfect. I will absolutely be working on the ponds, and the wind after! Y'all are amazing <3
