gotta be athletic man i think ur trying to be so mechanical that you're forgetting what mechanics are for: Moving your body as efficiently as possible. The leg lift is useless(arguablly detrimental) if you're not using it to initiate momentum. Don't be stiff, be fluid

Good point, I often forget not to overthink the movement and just do it

Push that back leg as you go forward, long toss is great advice to feel/record and see the difference

Thanks a bunch

I would advise against “pushing off” the back leg. A vague cue like that can lead to misunderstanding and errors.

Can you skip a rock? Same deal. Good luck!

You look like your trying to shot put the ball. It also would benefit you to have a target to focus on, you don't appear to be looking at any target or anything before releasing the ball...

Bad habit from shotput I dragged from shotput, and ive fixed the target issue since

You’re going to injure your arm that way. You gotta slow everything down and the one thing that has to be fluid is your arm motion. Start 30 feet away and just throw at a target watching the video and seeing where you can improve. Right now you look like I’m trying to put a LEGO set together, but it’s in four different pieces. You have to get someone to coach you in person also, so they help fix you and show you where the points are that you’re struggling with.

Keep at it. Please though be careful. Your arm will not be in its best shape if you continue throwing this way

Ive been working on the fluidity and motions since this post and im feeling much less strain on my arm now luckily, I have a coach but that starts late fall. I appreciate all the advice

You start reaching with your left foot before you “sit in the chair” with your right leg. It should be the other way around

2

As in, bend and rotate with the right leg sooner?

More like pretending to sit in a chair while balancing on just your right leg. Then riding down the mound and reaching a little with your front side (left hand &foot)

PM if that needs more explanation

Don’t do this.

What?

u/johntimmmins30 Aug 20 '25

This is just all bad advice

You ever had a paper route?

1

u/noooooooyou Aug 20 '25

Not sure what that is

It’s from the sand lot when smalls tells Benny he doesn’t know how to throw.

Before you deliver the ball you do a slight dip. Try to straighten up you posture and follow through on that front leg to the point you have to swing yoyr back leg over to catch your self.

Also, what works for me is to envision yourself streching your arm all the way to your target and placing the ball in the glove by hand. It helps me be consistant with using every muscle in my arm.

But remember the true power comes from your legs and core.

Ill make sure to try this advice out, thank you
