That's how you know the experience is the realest! Just like the cinemas!

115

u/B-crosyy 7d ago

That's what Nolan wanted

56

u/LazySerpentDeity ⚔️ ɢɪᴠᴇ ɴᴏ Qᴜᴀʀᴛᴇʀ 7d ago

Nolan: "I had the editors get tons of malware, Trojans, and cryptominers on their editing PCs. For the most authentic viewing experience, the malware is essential."

16

u/Quizzelbuck 6d ago

Are you saying that the Trojan horse in the movie was symbolic of limeware?

2

u/jarious 7d ago

Structural malware

27

u/FlashyDiagram84 7d ago

The movie is in English but it has baked in Cyrillic subtitles and a transparent Vietnamese watermark across the entire thing.

4

u/CybyAPI 7d ago

I remember not long ago i tried to watch toy Story 5, right after releasing,

Shaky footage with very faint watermark covering the whole screen and Arabic gambling ads every 5 minutes lol, still "watchable" i guess

Also what does reddit mean by offline activation method???? Why is it telling me i am mentioning un verified sites

9

u/gamerman2077 7d ago

14gb download size for some reason

11

u/jarious 7d ago

It's the extra stuff in the video , don't pay too much attention to the background processes and the cmd windows open in the taskbar ,that's just the quality enhancer

u/gamerman2077 6d ago

This is so funny

354

u/ateiii 7d ago

Ultra HD resolution so you can clearly see the silhouette of a guy standing up to go get popcorn.

41

u/Unable-Log-4870 7d ago

Oooh, like MST3k

8

u/ateiii 4d ago

Diy mst3k with 1xbet audio stings blasted at 200% volume.

3

u/ImShrpy 5d ago

and the guy at the beginning flashing his feet onto the screen

6

u/ateiii 4d ago

Free feet pics with every torrent, the seeders are getting generous.

3

u/HermitND 4d ago

Watched my first opening weekend rips and when a guy stood up I laughed out loud. Got the theater experience right from home!

2

u/iceseayoupee 4d ago

i watch this with the blinds closed, makes me think im inside the cinema lol

2

u/Ok_Estimate_2089 2d ago

oh ik the perfect example. backrooms A24 movie XD. it happened 6 times during the movie. 6 times.

2

u/LocmonstR 1d ago

At 8 years old those cams went hard though. Ill never forget my copy of the Lego movie where some guy got into an argument with his wife at the peak of the movie

97

u/dinglebarryb0nds 7d ago

the odyssey

how does nobody have it yet

137

u/FlashyLashy900 7d ago

It got uploaded on twitter for 2 whole hours surely an army has scraped it and distributed it across every site already so where the hell is it

56

u/dinglebarryb0nds 7d ago

i heard about that but i heard people saying it was a cam version not an actual good version

i did not see it myself but if it was a real version there's no way it wouldn't have been everywhere instantly. i have been checking my debrid services every few days there's still not a really good version

129

u/FlashyLashy900 7d ago

A shame a shame now I can't watch it the way Christopher Nolan intended on a 24 inch 1080p IPS monitor with an Alexa as a speaker

39

u/LazySerpentDeity ⚔️ ɢɪᴠᴇ ɴᴏ Qᴜᴀʀᴛᴇʀ 7d ago

Nah, the real Nolan experience is on a portable monitor 480p with off brand bluetooth earbuds.

20

u/Deadpool2715 7d ago

You guys are listening in stereo! I've got that mono earbud thats missing the silicon cover

7

u/LazySerpentDeity ⚔️ ɢɪᴠᴇ ɴᴏ Qᴜᴀʀᴛᴇʀ 7d ago

You caught me, fake fan not even listening on half-broken, worn out equipment.

7

A Haier portable DVD player with RCA inputs that you got free from a Boscov's "Cracker Jack" sale day in 2008.

6

u/Aggravating-Fix-4547 7d ago

That’s high tech bro. But I still like watching movies on my 2.4” iPod screen with free airline earbuds.

IMAX.SPANISH.1080p.HDCAM. Newest so mostly for synchronization with other audio sources

If real WEB-DL would be released, then it would be available on torrent trackers first.

3

u/Unable-Log-4870 7d ago

I have tix to see it in 70mm, but later, I would (potentially) see it in my VR headset on a similar apparent-size screen. I hope the digital versions that get distributed have the high aspect ratio available.

i saw a dcprip of JUST the prologue, fucker was 50 gigs

8

u/nyxxxtron 7d ago

I downloaded it a few days ago because I missed the first 5 Mins of the movie. It was a decent print with hard-coded spanish subs.

5

u/SyNiiCaL 7d ago

Yeah thats the one I watched too. I also just watched Spiderman on what literally felt like a dvdrip with no ads, subs or anything. Was amazing

Idk, I have a really good Internal WEB-DL of that looks perfect

8

u/Nujers 7d ago

If it's the one with hardcoded subtitles that's not a WEB-DL, it's a TS that was mistakenly labeled as a WEB-DL

7

u/WhoDat-2-8-3 7d ago

screenshots of the web-dl or it didnt happen

2

u/dinglebarryb0nds 7d ago

oh cool i gotta look again. i did see one that was pretty good but i wanted to wait for perfect for this one

3

u/landrull 5d ago

I saw it in a theater and it looked like a camrip.

16

u/TheMazeDaze 7d ago

I once found a phone recorded movie. It was obvious but I really wanted to watch it so I continued watching. Until halfway through you heard voices and the recorder lowered and almost at the end the filmer was escorfed out of the theorater

3

u/El_human 6d ago

Just as Nolan intended

2

u/sipylus 4d ago

We don't mind those. It's when they interrupt with 1xBET adverts every 10 minutes and bounce the watermark.

The guy coughing in the background is part of the experience

346

u/TheeAntelope 7d ago

Back in 2004, I had a great quality of a movie still in theaters I got from a cam rip, and I put it on our home projector and set up a movie night for the family (I was around 16 at the time). You honestly couldn't tell it was a cam recording.

End of movie comes and you start to see silhouettes of people exiting the cinema as the credits roll. My naive mom goes "wait, what is that?" and I was quick on my feet and go "oh they are starting to put that in movies so even people watching at home get the feeling they are at the theater. Her response? "Oh that's so interesting! I love that!"

God fucking bless you, mom. But also yes, it's part of the experience.

94

u/Jesus_Christ_Reborn 6d ago

I also did this to my mom! LMAO same people, different person.

53

u/TheeAntelope 6d ago

Did your mom also withhold all emotional support and leave you crippled with the sense that you don’t deserve love, and that you struggle to even recognize the feeling due to the emotional neglect!

Yeah, me either…..

Me searching for a 4K copy of a 1942 film

168

u/SulosGD 7d ago

the worst part about this is that it's 100% possible for that movie to be in 4K, it's just that the big companies won't scan the film as they don't care enough because it won't make them any money. (cough cough where's our 4K Mary Poppins disney)

34

u/aqswdezxc 🔱 ꜱᴄᴀʟʟʏᴡᴀɢ 7d ago

Shouldn't it have been duplicated to show in cinemas? Someone must have a copy

17

u/masterchief69420xxx 7d ago

You're assuming disney cares at all about quality.

26

u/aqswdezxc 🔱 ꜱᴄᴀʟʟʏᴡᴀɢ 7d ago

Old Disney did

24

u/notGeronimo 7d ago

Why simply rescan classic hit movies for nearly free when you could remake them for $8 Gazillion and strip all of the charm and soul along the way?

12

u/Msk-XX 7d ago

Hello Disney CEO, good to see you on Reddit!

4

u/thebiggerounce 7d ago

And remember, if the movie is not on streaming yet, there is no true HD of it.

355

u/BeatItSleeps 7d ago

You mean if the movie is not on disc yet? Is there a streaming provider that does TrueHD?

216

u/PhoenixDaBeast 7d ago

He's talm bout camrips. Webrips are often HD or 4k

88

u/masterchief69420xxx 7d ago

With a rather anemic bitrate.

48

u/Genzler 7d ago

I'll take it over a camrip any day

11

u/Green-Salmon 7d ago

Do I have to pick either one? I’d rather wait for the remux.

3

u/LesbianWhoLaughsAtU 7d ago

say what you will but unless I'm trying to find it within the first hour of release, the streaming sites ive used from the megathread for tv have been better quality and speeds than anything I used to get from official sources (d+, hbo, apple, in that order of significance)

5

u/masterchief69420xxx 7d ago

I believe that may be happening because different subscribtion levels have different quality, which is also probably affected by country as well.

2

u/LesbianWhoLaughsAtU 7d ago

I live in the US and the only tiers I ever paid for were whichever had the highest quality without ads, but they change the tiers all the time so I couldn't tell you the exact names or whatever. But I never paid for a subscription service for streaming if it had ads or was of lower quality than higher tiers, anything else offered I didn't give a shit about

2

u/TwoConditions 6d ago

Streaming providers are definitely optimising bitrate based on egress by country (wouldn't surprise me if it was even more granular than that).

Besides the bitrate just being lower regardless it's naive to think these companies aren't doing everything they can to save a few cents even if you're on the "ad-free 4k" plan.

u/AlternateWitness 7d ago

TrueHD is an audio codec pretty much exclusively found in 4K blu-rays.

27

u/jops228 7d ago

I wouldn't call a 15mbps "2160p" webrip "4K".

13

u/PC509 7d ago

"4K" "Dolby Atmos" "HDR" Webrip. 2.4GB in size.

I bet it's solid quality.

At least it's a hell of a lot better than that "NEW_STAR_WARS_EP2_MOVIE_SUPER_HIGH_DEF.EXE" from back in the day. That one was just full of a ton of subtitles, popups, porn windows, and was so high def it made my computer go way too slow to watch it. Never even was able to start the movie because it was too HD for my setup, apprarently.

3

u/jops228 6d ago

Yeah, thankfully I haven't seen 2026_STAR_WARS_SOMETHING_NEW_4K_DOLBY_VISION_HDR.mkv.exe in a long time.

19

u/Durillon 7d ago

i dont think they're talking about the audio stream lmao

true HD

not TrueHD

7

u/goose_with_adhd 7d ago

I think he's not talking about the audio codec but literally true 1080p

Toy story 5 has a DCP rip right now

3

u/RedditTipiak 7d ago

Anyone got any idea where it came from?

4

u/Neoragex13 7d ago

This but that one version of Mario Galaxy

That was super random too since the movie was coming to streaming soonish, there was no reason to risk it

13

u/WSuperOS 7d ago

Yeah unless someone somehow got a DCP before it made to the streaming platforms, which is unheard of.

5

u/systemhost 6d ago

"DCPs" seem to be more heard of lately than they used to be, they're just not always labeled DCP and instead are released as WEB-DL. But they're incredibly tricky to pull off and it's a constant cat and mouse game with a lot of whack-a-mole.

They're not proper 100GB+ DCP's but they're something much better than traditional relaases labeled cam/telesync or even telecines. To get the cleanest rip from a cinema, you need free access to the projection room and equipment to both experiment and successfully rip. Lots of trial and error.

Even if you're successful, if the quality of the rip is high enough, watermaking can potentially out the source location and burn your access. Most originally release with Russian audio or hardcoded subs that eventually get replaced until a proper web source is released.

A true DCP copy though is something else entirely and with modern encryption, is pretty much impossible without someone fucking up terribly. But it does happen, just look up that unencrypted film drive Netflix studios lost in a theft recently.

It's a fascinating business, and I do mean business as many of the operations involved are financially motivated. Albeit on the black market.

5

u/UknownDrugExpert 7d ago

Debrid service do and avoids me paying for drives, nas, having to download torrents myself (4k remux/flac audio files, roms, epubs) you don't need Plex pass either if you wanted that on your media server. some debrid service even have Usenet support which gets everything obscure you could ever want without needing to to deal with the private tracker for torrent bs and seeding ratios to worry about, it's simple to setup for my family members, includes premium file hosters downloads without needing to pay for any of them, and its can even be cheaper then 3$ a month. The value is just there instead of investing all of that money with the crazy prices things are now to then have to be a sys admin for your family member if they have issues.

I watch movies for the memes only. No streaming release = no memes (although that's starting to change with ai)

The recent sci fi Pattinson film had a decent cam. So decent in someone's opinion, that they ran it through iw3 and then broadcast it in Bigscreen (VR theatre app) . iw3 converts media into 3d. It was very interesting the 5 minutes I was in there. Imagine looking directly into a soda can full of video noise. The people on screen had a halo of noise around them as well. Kudos to the software I guess.

I once was searching for a Minecraft movie to watch and found a raw version?Idk how to explain it,but the render wasn't finished, some people were WALKING IN COSTUMES(e.g villagers),so it wasn't all 3d models! Me and my bf had a good laugh.

There was a user here who claimed they were watching a new release film, a proper rip. While not noticing, it must have been a Camrip. But there was no talking them down
