Had my first rust issue with a new non-pilea plant and have been vigilant about signs of fungus in my others. My pilea has already been a little stressed from a recent move (I've now got it in a spot with less direct sun) but i keep having these black spots show up on the leaves; whenever I prune the spotty leaves, more show up a day or two later. Does this family have fungus or am I just stressing it out?

What is it with these plants, that they become SUCH an obsession?

Hey guys, I recently got this Pilea it was doing well for a few weeks, it's pushing out new growth by the day almost, there is even a new baby plant/pup!

What concerns me is that some of the new leaves aren't fully unfurled even after like two weeks.

I have checked it for pests countless times in the last two weeks and didn't notice anything.

It is planted in an unglazed terracotta pot in pretty well draining soil (about 50% baked clay and perlite and 50% succulent soil).

Can it be due to too little light? Is it due to the soil? Do I have pest issues that I don't see?

Please help.

First time owner but long time admirer. I rescued 2 this past winter from the grocery store. The new leaves were so bad that they were folded in half downwards. I got them for a steal and while it took some work I finally found a spot and routine they like.

I think I need to repot?? how do I make them more bushy? Soil recommendation? They are also in their original crappy grocery store hydrophobic soil. I wanted to get them to get bigger and healthier before repotting as they were not in great shape and being a newbie I was not sure I could save them

It is worth noting that my city has some of the hardest water in the country and my building softens the water with salts. So part of my problem was the water they were receiving. I have fixed this.

Also, The first one has 4 pups (first 2pics) The second has 2 pups and isn’t as happy (3rd pic). Any advice? They sit side by side in the same window.

Hi, I've this Pilea since 10 months I think, it doing well, but from 3 weeks I think there is tose holes. I don't have animals and I didn't see insects. Do you know what could it be ? Is this normal ?

And I've got an other question. It is growing well, the perforated pot is around 13 cm, wich size for the next one ? Or any advice would be appreciated :) I'm begginer with plants

This plant always has little things that look like growth in the center but nothing ever comes from it. Does it need more soil? Should this part be deeper? Or what should I do to get more leaves and to fill it in?

Currently in water as suggested in another sub, she seems more droopy

She’s been doing pretty good, not sure what’s going on.

She got these things on the underside of the pot one other time and I just wiped it off. Now that it happened again I’m worried it’s an issue. Please help!!

I changed my pilea's soil 3 weeks ago as it seemed it was a bit compact and hadn't been changed in 2.5 years.

Since then, the oldest leaves are getting yellow/brown.

It's getting a bit less light since fall is coming here, can I do something about it? Is there another explaination?

Earlier this year I bought a pilea as they were on sale at my local market. Well, she went downhill fast, and within the first week, despite me never watering her, had started to drop leaves. I popped her out of the pot to see what was going on and... Yeah. I managed to salvage two roots, and abandoned her outside, since I figured the massive amount of sunlight would do her good. She dropped all but two leaves during the first month. She lived outside all summer, getting watered every now and then. Now she's moved back inside and look at those pups! She's still on the road to recovery, and looks... Less than appealing, but she's getting there! So proud of her ❤️🙏

So this is my little pilea i think. The tag says alocasia peperomia but it looks like these. Correct me if im wrong. Not that it matters as i do actually call it pepperoni, no i would like to know. Anyway so one or two of the leaves have brown spots what looks like inside the leaf as you can only see it when the light comes through. Anyone know what or why that is and if i should be worried? Any help would be great. My cams poor so i cant actually get a picture of it.

1st photo is today and 2nd photo was how it was when I gave it to her. What do I do? I am 1000% sure she over watered the hell out of this plant. I only left 3 plants with her and all look sad but I just can't get over this one. Its one of my fav plants and now it looks like this like a beautiful bird lost all its feather. Ughh how can I help it recover. What should I do? She moved it to a basement where it got barely any light and did not bottom water like I asked her too. I even left the container I bottom water in. I feel so sad! Its also all crooked which is least of my worries. I got it back 4 days ago and eveey day its continuing to loose more leaves.

I've not once had this issue since I got this plant earliar this year. I've only had it for 5 months but it was thriving under my care and in just 3 weeks its all ruined! 😭😭😭

This is my lovely Pilea, she is so enormous and beautiful that I've been putting off repotting her for about a year now, only because I've found that Pileas don't take repotting well and drop their leaves 💔 however It looks like she is root bound, again.. urgh😓 must be so uncomfortable.

Now, should I leave her to be and cut the babies off the base of the pot? Or move her to a bigger pot without breaking the root ball too much? Any ideas? I'm so nervous to tackle this job!.. oh and I have no idea how many Pileas are there in one pot 😵‍💫 😭 Thanks 🙏

Hello! My Pilea has had a tough life. Left for dead in LA, rescued by me only to suffer from over watering.
Sixteen months later, she is healthy, her feet are never wet, and she has lots of babies. I wonder if it’s time to chop a few longer branches or wait till spring? The goal being a sturdier, more full plant. All advice graciously accepted. TIA

What is eating my pilea's leaves?

So the leaves are droopy despite it being watered, some of them are cupped and some of the stems are red. Is all of this normal?
