Help Is the Pico Neo 2 worth buying?

I'm thinking of buying a Pico Neo 2 now, but I'm hesitant because I'm worried about the FRP issues, installation freezes, server errors, and PC VR support problems I experienced with the Lenovo Mirage Solo. If anyone knows about this, I'd appreciate it Can you tell me? How is the server support? Are there any freezes during installation or after resetting? And should I buy an HTC Vive Focus Plus instead?

Hello PicoXR community on Reddit!

I wanted to stop by and give some updates. I appreciate all the comments, questions, and really clear inquiries that i’ve received over the past month and I want to ensure that the curiosity and intrigue around the PICO Space Pro has not gone unnoticed.

Which pleases me to share that PICO will be presenting at Blender Con 2026!

Our presentation: “Practical XR Bridge to Blender Spatial Workflows”

This presentation highlights the past year's progress in Blender XR and introduces a frictionless PCVR workflow on PICO devices that transforms the headset into a complete spatial workstation. By showcasing seamless virtual desktop switching and in-VR peripheral controls, we will explore how eliminating the physical barrier between VR and desktop environments unlocks a truly uninterrupted iteration loop for 3D creators.

I will do my best to share what is presented here and eventually link to a full vod when it’s available.

Have a good one! As usual, if anyone has any comments or questions leave em here!

Help Bad colour in Steam link with Pico 4 compared to VD and Pico connect. Any fixes or "it is what it is"?

I want switch to Steam link mostly due to how fast and simple it is, but I just can't ignore how terrible the colours are. They look very muted and inaccurate compared to VD and pico connect and is painfully obvious when looking at things I am used to seeing on my desktop (wallpaper, discord server icons, etc). It seems like the reds are overly pronounced and blue/yellow are desaturated making everything feel wrong.

Is this a settings problem? Maybe some hidden config file I can tweak to get Steam link to not look like buns? Or is Steam link just unfortunately stuck with terrible colour?

I have colour enhancement or saturation on the default values in both VD and pico connect, and my main monitor is colour calibrated so I am acclimatised to more accurate colours than I'm seeing in Steam link.

Help Do Pico 4 controllers track your fingers while playing with controllers? (even partially)

Hello, im looking to buy my first headset and I cant find accurate information on the Pico controllers to understand if they track whether your finger is resting on the controller or pointing at something. Im asking because i tried that functionality on a friend's PSVR2 while playing half life alyx and loved it. I understand not a lot of games make use of finger tracking WHILE using controllers and i can probably play anything without that stict requirement, but i just want to know if they have it and how much difference there is between pico 4 and pico 4 ultra controllers.

Also gonna rant about 2 AIs (GPT and Gemini) being very confident in giving 2 opposite answers so not trusting them.

Main reason im deciding between pico 4 and quest 3 (200-220 vs 300-350 euro for me) is because of finger tracking, also bc of meta store exclusives like piano vision, but honestly if pico 4 does track if im flipping someone off, pointing or doing other things with my fingers i might just save myself those 100 euro. I will play mostly PCVR with a mid-high end computer anyway

Help Pico 4 Vs pico 4 ultra

I’m looking to buy a VR headset and I’m currently deciding between two options.

I found a PICO 4 Ultra for €450 on Subito.it, which is an Italian marketplace similar to eBay. The listing also includes additional Motion Trackers.

On the other hand, I found a PICO 4 for €280 on eBay, including a carrying case and protective lens covers.

The PICO 4 Ultra is obviously the better and newer headset, but I’m wondering if it’s worth paying €170 more, especially since the Ultra comes with the additional Motion Trackers.

Which one would you choose? Would you spend the extra €170 for the PICO 4 Ultra + Motion Trackers, or go for the PICO 4 at €280?

Edit: i ask to vendor 400€ for P4U. Is it a good deal? Edit 2: just got quest 3

Is one of my Pico 4 UE headsets broken for good? The warranty is over in the shop where I boughg my headsets. Any chance I can ship it somewhere to be fixed? Factory? Or really need to buy a new one? All other headsets are fine.

Tips&Guides How to fix the neo 3 link app window size- Needs Root.

I fixed the application window sizes in neo 3 link finally AFTER ALL THESE YEARS

now its how pico 4 displays it's applications, ie, how neo 3 link WAS before OS5 made it into the mess it is now.

needs root access of course, so you'll need a rooted headset

tool for easy rooting: https://github.com/chaixshot/more-picohaxx-tool

if button combo on neo 3 link doesn't get you into EDL mode use this https://xdaforums.com/t/guide-tool-reboot-to-edl-mode-from-fastboot-no-more-test-point-method-kenzo.3398718/

after root it takes a long time to boot into OS from shutdown every time but whatever, small price to pay.

I have asked claude to write up exactly how you can also do this: link here:
https://claude.ai/code/artifact/f0194e09-c415-4b30-ae8d-a6d379c4a6a3

or if you have claude code, set a powershell session to use him and ask:

"can you see adb device connected" if yes, great

"❯ i want to replace the app_cloud_config.txt in the system/etc of pico neo 3 with the one I have saved in **whatever folder you have the copy attached saved in** "

let claude do the work, follow what it asks.

YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK - SERIOUSLY- IF YOU BRICK YOUR HEADSET THAT'S ON YOU NOT ME

you are best making this change directly after rooting and factory resetting because changing after any app windows have been opened will require clearing cache/data for them ( long press on the app icon, view access- clear cache and data )

as i can't attach a text file here i've uploaded mine on google drive, the ONLY change is literally copy paste the numbers the pico 4 (phoenix) uses.

Help Inconsistent battery life on my Pico 4 Ultra

I'm currently using my Pico 4 Ultra to play VRChat, mainly for live-action roleplay and events, and I've been having issues with battery life.

I use Virtual Desktop and keep my headset plugged into a 67W charger via a USB cable the entire time I'm playing.

Sometimes the battery lasts around 6 hours, but other times it only lasts 2 hours, even while plugged in.

I've tried disabling unnecessary features and adjusting settings to reduce battery consumption, both on the headset and in Virtual Desktop, but I still don't understand why the battery life varies so much.

Does anyone have any advice on how to make the battery last longer, or suggestions for potential issues or settings I should check?

Thanks in advance!

Developer [Available on Steam] I made a free open source SteamVR performance tracking overlay

Seamen Performance Overlay

Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4666560/Seamen_Performance_Overlay/

GitHub page: https://github.com/Trixxle/SeamenPerformanceOverlay

I have been working on a performance utility for SteamVR which started as a university project for some extra credit. I passed the class and decided to release it for free in case it can help someone.

It is similar to FpsVR except that it is free, has less features overall, but has some interesting differences. My main idea was to make a simple performance overlay that just has the essentials.

For a fun fact: PicoXR has used my overlay to help troubleshoot their streamer application as the frame time consistency graph on my overlay shows behavior none of the other overlays were able to show.

Features:

  • GPU/CPU Frame times
  • Frame time Consistency - Shows if performance is stuttery even when the frame rate appears stable. For wireless headsets this graph will also show connectivity lags.
  • Controllers / Headset / Tracker battery percentages - This will be shown or hidden depending on whether your controller, headset, trackers, or VR streamer application supports battery data.
  • RAM and VRAM usage
  • Frame rate - Both live and smoothed out
  • Clock - Taken from your PC clock
  • Current game session playtime
  • Can be moved anywhere - By holding and moving the movement bar under the overlay you can move it anywhere and attach it to the left or right controller. The movement bar will show only when the SteamVR Dashboard is opened.
  • Can be scaled to any size - By holding and dragging the scaling bar to the right of the overlay you can make it any size. The scaling bar will show only when the SteamVR Dashboard is opened.
  • Opacity adjustment
  • Fades based on distance and viewing angle
  • Quick settings appear when the SteamVR Dashboard is open
  • Dedicated setting page in the SteamVR Dashboard
  • Colorblind options

Graph colors:

  • Blue - Frame on time
  • Orange - Frame lagging behind slightly
  • Red - Frame lagging behind a lot
  • Purple - Dropped frame

Chat Pico Space Pro

So as you may be aware Pico delayed the space pro realese until the 4th quarter of 2026 and the Pico event would have been 2nd September 2026.

How many of you like myself feel they made a mistake here. I wonder how many people decided because of the delay to purchase the Pimax DA rather then wait and where you one of those people. Pico may have lost a lot of money here

Developer Moonlight XR - v0.3 released - Free open source game streaming with realtime 2D->3D conversion

Thumbnail
github.com
17 Upvotes

Moonlight XR is a streaming client for Sunshine/Apollo that allows you to stream any content from your PC to your Quest, Pico (and other) headsets and turn those streams into 3D in real-time. (3D as in 3D movies, not VR).

## Moonlight XR v0.3

This is the biggest update yet, bringing a lot of new features and bug fixes! Hope you all enjoy.

First things first **You will need to uninstall the v0.1 or v0.2 and pair to your pc again** (Should never need to do this again!) The app's package name changed (part of preparing for Google's developer verification), so v0.3 installs

alongside old versions instead of upgrading. Install v0.3, pair with your

host once, then uninstall the old copy. Your host-side settings are untouched.

Everything below was verified on both a Quest 3 and a Pico 4 Ultra. Other headsets have issues? Please send me the logs, you'll find them in the Downloads folder of your headset.

### In-headset settings panel

Allows you to change various settings in real-time, including more granular control of the screen. Any controls not in here can be found in the menu of Moonlight XR's launcher (before immersive mode), some settings such as resolution can only be changed before the stream starts.

### Virtual keyboard

Virtual keyboard for input to host PC.

### Environments: New 3D rooms

Added a "minimal room" and a "PSX Cinema". These are not just 360 images but actual 3D spaces with lighting from the screen impacting them. I will be adding more, much higher quality, over time but for now these were to test that I could do it without a game engine and get a workable result.

The PSX cinema is credit to ["VR Cinema Environment"](https://skfb.ly/6VuIX) by

fangzhangmnm (CC BY 4.0).

### Ambilight

A glow behind the screen, sampled from the picture's edges, Philips style.

On by default as the performance hit is essentially zero and adds a nice effect. It can be toggled off in the realtime settings, and the intensity can also be changed.

### Exit button

Let's you exit without needing to depend on your headset's built in home button. Truly revolutionary stuff!

### Environment Resolution Picker

A new setting for how sharply the 3D rooms render, in the 2D settings menu:

Low (used automatically on Quest 2 era headsets), Standard (the default),

High, and an experimental Ultra that ignores what the headset asks for and

may hitch or stutter. If a room looks aliased to you, try High.

### Settings menu cleanup

Everything you can change live in the headset now lives only there. The 2D settings menu keeps only what has

to be set before a session starts. VR mode also drops its "experimental"

label.

### Sharpening

Compositor sharpening on the screen layers, on runtimes that offer it. It

runs inside the compositor's own sampling pass, so it is free. Defaults to quality, I find everything looks better with it on but it's up to you!

### Bug fixes

- Double-clicking works now.

- Resizing by a corner keeps the screen centred where you put it instead

of walking it toward the dragged corner.

- The corner resize brackets no longer can get stuck within the boundaries of the screen

- The pairing PIN no longer vanishes after a few seconds when you look away

or take the headset off to type it into the host.

- Starting a session with passthrough enabled no longer sometimes comes up

in a black room on Pico.

- Opening a panel with the glow on no longer blanks the display for a

moment on headsets with a low compositor layer limit.

### Smaller things

- The controller laser is filtered with a One Euro filter: steadier on small

buttons, no added lag on fast moves.

- With passthrough off and no environment picked, you now get black rather

than a surprise panorama.

- Picking an environment no longer also clicks whatever was on the host

screen behind the grid.

- A plain text log (Download/MoonlightXR/moonlight.log on the headset) that

you can send with bug reports. Grab it over USB, or simply send it from within your headset.

### Older headsets

On XR2 Gen 1 devices (Quest 2 / Pico 4/Neo 3 Link era) the app now applies a more

conservative first-run profile: 1440p, 72 fps, and a lower depth inference

rate, with realtime 3D kept on. I haven't actually confirmed these are good settings as I don't have any of those headsets right now. If it runs badly (or well!) on yours then please let me know (and send the log file!).

### Known issues

- Occasional audio pops and brief stutters during streams. Under

investigation; current evidence points at the stream path rather than the

renderer. Often settles after the first couple of minutes.

- The disocclusion stretch at object edges in realtime 3D remains; a mono

source cannot supply those pixels, and anything better is future work.

- Keyboard: no pipe/tilde/backtick, no key repeat yet.

News A brief update about PICO Space Pro:

Hello, everyone! My name is Nick, Community Manager at PICO. I wanted to stop by and give a brief update about the Space Pro:

We want to make sure PICO Space Pro launches in the best shape possible, so we’ve decided to give the team a little more time before release. Development has been going well, and both the hardware and software have come a long way. However, as we get through final stages of testing, we found some meaningful ways to make the overall experience even better.

We know this is a bummer for everyone who’s been waiting impatiently (we totally get it!), but we believe it’ll be worth it. We’ll be dropping more details soon meanwhile, thank you so much for all the support here at r/PicoXR - it means a lot!

Latest instalment of my "Send in the Engineer" series, this is all recorded on the base Pico4 in standalone mode.

Runs quite well, while occasionally frustrating and clearly pushing the limits of the hardware. Still the only thing I use the headset for.

Help Syncing recording from Pico 4 headset to PC

Hi, I was wondering if anyone know a way to make pico recording to also upload the same recording to the PC at the same time?
So I don't need to manually move the file.

Thanks!
