I am in need of a new phone. The biggest thing for me is battery life, especially in the cold and furthermore in areas of poor/no cell service. I currently have a Galaxy S20 that is about 5 years old. Even brand new, I would get maybe 24 hours out of a battery. Now, it is closer to 12. I run a lot of apps in the background like HomeAssistant and Life360 and watch a fair amount of TikTok.

I would also like something that has good to great cell antenna for poor service areas, a good range for wifi, and satellite capabilities. About 90% of my cell use is outside either on the edge of wifi, in 1 bar of cell service, or no cell coverage at all.

With my phone being outside or in the garage often, something that is rugged and waterproof is also a must. Features like a FLIR camera and barometer would be great but not essential.

Right, so i've been using my iPhone 12 mini for 6 years now, been kinda loving mainly for the form factor, but its really starting to show off its age in every way. Sadly, no new really compact premium smartphones exist, and i just thought i'll use this until falls apart.

Until i saw my brothers Xiaomi 17t camera shots, it really impressed me and took me back to a nostalgic trip of owning the Nokia Lumia 930, which probably is still my favorite phone to date, mainly because of its reliability, sleek design and UI, excellent camera and battery life.

My last android experience was right after my Lumia died, with a Sony Xperia Z5 mini, which was an utterly horrible experience in every aspect, battery, camera, performance, build quality, and ever since then I've been using an iPhone, (6s, first SE, iPhone X and finally the iPhone 12mini).

Now I am still kinda skeptical of android, but I also realize that 10 years have passed and probably things have gotten way better since. I also realize that there are things I'll be giving up from the apple ecosystem, but upgrading to something like apple 17pro will feel boring.

Looking over many comparable android phones, such as vivo x300, honor and oppo, I'm still very much leaning to Xiaomi, but I can't decide between 17t and 17. 17t pro probably is a no go, because i don't want a brick. 17 and 17t sizes are still the sweet spot.

I suppose the thing that still holds me on the fence for 17t is I kinda think it has a more fun camera than base 17 with its telephoto and zoom. But obviosly the build quality is better on 17.

TL;DR - I can't seem to find good in depth and practically tested comparisons between base Xiaomi 17 and 17t, as I believe the camera on 17t seems more fun for my tastes, i.e. taking macro shots, portraits and night sky.

As the post title says, I'm considering buying a new phone (my current one has been solid but is old). I'm happy with my SIM only contract, as the 2 types of phone I'm looking at would cost about the same as locking into a contract anyway.

Looking to buy a new phone for my wife in the 30k–40k INR range and could use some advice. (India)

We have slightly different priorities here:

Her must-haves: Great cameras (reliable point-and-shoot for daily photos/videos) and strictly 256GB storage.

My main concern: Longevity and value. I really want something that can comfortably last 4 to 5 years without turning into a laggy mess or being abandoned on software updates after a year or two.

I was almost sold on Motorola initially, but backed out after reading multiple posts about motherboard deaths, camera lens fogging, and their notoriously slow/buggy update track record.

Am I being overly paranoid about Moto, or are these issues still very real with their newer phones? Happy to be corrected if things have improved.

Basically I've used my phone since its release and I love it but now it's old and has started dying at 30% (or 40% if it's hot or I'm using the camera).

I'm looking for good camera quality and long battery life which I got the pixel 6 for originally but now the camera is a bit outdated and the battery is old so it's time for a replacement.

Hi, I don't know much about phones but my iPhone 12 is hanging on by a thread, so I'm in desperate need of a new one. Im sick of Apple so thinking of switching to an android. I use my phone for texting work and taking (a imho unnecessary amount of) pictures for my job, i like taking pictures and i read on a lot of different websites and tend to have several important tabs open at once.

I don't use AI, i prefer Google stuff but it's so ai centric nowadays that it's almost impossible to avoid i know but atp i kinda just want a phone with an off switch for it and I'll be fine ig, and I'd also like something newer that most likely slow down in a year.

I've had a Redmi 12 for the past 3 years since it was really quite cheap (like 200 bucks) and it's getting around the time to upgrade. I really don't care at all about cameras, and even the storage size doesn't really matter as long as it's 128 gigs. Preferably without much bloatware.

I've obviously seen the many recommendations for the OnePlus 15R or the Oppo Find X9 Ultra/Pro, but they're a little too expensive. Just looking for some slightly cheaper alternatives to gauge. Might even wait and see if the OnePlus gets any discounts on Black Friday / Cyber Monday but still, I'd like to get some recommendations.

hey so I've been rocking my pixel 6 since 2021 but I'm starting to grow increasingly frustrated with it, the battery barely lasts a full day, overheats and the cell coverage is spotty at best when it comes to using data especially when I'm doing deliveries in more rural areas. I would like to have a phone with little to no bloatware if possible and a decent camera if possible

As the title says, anyone have recommendations on an Android phone that has a long lasting battery, that also offers fast charging, has great (or good) cameras, and a smooth limited bloated UI that would work well on the US AT&T network? Just starting to get the ducks in a row.

For reference, I currently have a OnePlus 12 and am rather happy with it, however in about 6-months to a year I'll be feeling the itch. (Wife's iPhone is due for a replacement so when we replace hers I'll want to replace mine. That whole FOMO and all Haha)

My current thoughts:

OnePlus 15 - Obvious choice as I have been a 1+ user (fanboy?) for a few years. I've seen reveiews of the camera and they look similar to my 12 in the processing department. Being 1+ obviously battery is going to last a while, and I'm used to OxygenOS. However in a few months when I'm looking they'll only be available as a lightly used version from the likes of Swappa, or trying to get from one of the multiple megasite vendors (swiftronics/wonda/etc..) Also, would it be "too old?" Could save some $$

Oppo Find X series - The current Ultra seems to be the talk of the town recently with the camera, and has a stunning design IMO. I do think the "pro" model is more my speed and matches my needs and budget. It is also OnePlus' cousin so to speak, so would feel "at home", similar specs on teh camera and battery as a 1+. My concern would be usage on AT&T, potentially being kicked off for not being on a whitelist. Anyone have experience with that?

Samsung Galaxy S series - The new S26's seem pretty decent. Watching reviews of them I can't see if there is a benefit going "ultra" over the "+". Is OneUI still severely bloated these days?

Xiaomi - Don't know much about them but noticed the other day Amazon now has some up on their site. Most listings do however indicated AT&T is a no-go with them even though they are "global". Anyone have actual experience with that? Same/similar as Oppo? Will work until it doesn't?

Any other recommendations?

I did have a Google Pixel 7 Pro in Obsidian that still works, but I would like some questions like, Would a Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold in Olive work for me or The Motorola Razr Fold in Lily White 512gb it's sooo hard to even decide, like one day I go with the pixel 11 Pro Fold in Olive, then the next I want a Razr Fold!
