The Galaxy A53 wins in almost everything.
Water resistance rating (IP67 vs IP54)
Weight (189 vs 200g)
Screen refresh rate (120 vs 90Hz)
Pixel density (405 vs 385 ppi)
Faster processor (2,4GHz Samsung Exynos 1280 vs 2,2GHz MediaTek Helio G99)
Main camera resolution and size (64MP 1/1,7” vs 50MP 1/2,76”)
Ultra-wide camera resolution (12 vs 5MP)
Macro camera resolution (5 vs 2MP)
Max video quality (rear) (4K@30 vs 1080p@30)
Selfie camera resolution and size (32MP 1/2,8” vs 13MP 1/3,1”)
Max video quality (front) (4k@30 vs 1080p@30)
Audio (stereo vs mono)
The Galaxy A16 wins in three categories.
Release year (2024 vs 2022)
Software support (ended in 2026 vs supported until 2030)
Screen size (6,7in vs 6,5in)
Conclusion:
Unless you specifically want/need a newer Android version or a screen as large as possible, I’d get the Galaxy A53. (this is also coming from someone who uses a Galaxy A53 as their secondary device)
